Күн бұрын

Dr. Jordan B. Peterson sits down with industry consultant, science activist, and past president of Greenpeace Canada (1971 to 1986), Dr. Patrick Moore. They discuss his time in Greenpeace, the historic timeline of global ice ages and climate change, the clear lies being peddled to promote alarmism, and how the woke left manipulates science (and scientists) to promote a falsely perceived and politically incentivized future catastrophe.
Dr. Patrick Moore has been a leader in the international environmental field for more than 45 years. He is a co-founder of Greenpeace and served for nine years as President of Greenpeace Canada and seven years as a Director of Greenpeace International. As the leader of many campaigns Dr. Moore was a driving force shaping policy and direction for 15 years while Greenpeace became the world's largest environmental activist organization.
In recent years, Dr. Moore has been focused on the promotion of sustainability and consensus building among competing concerns. He founded and chaired the BC Carbon Project, a group that worked to develop a common understanding of climate change.
In 2021 Dr. Moore published "Fake Invisible Catastrophes and Threats of Doom" exposing the fake news and fake science around 11 claims of disaster including climate change, coral reefs, polar bears, plastic, nuclear energy, and more.
This episode was filmed March 21st, 2024

Anyone have any more information on the 'global greening' which Peterson described 'as the amount of the earth thats green since the year 2000 is equivalent to the total land area of the united states'. Can't wrap my head around what he meant by that.
@marksouthern7542

Google 'greening of the earth' and either CSIRO or NASA. Both of these organisations used satellite imagery to calculate how the earth has greened. The science behind the greening is this....higher levels of CO2 in the atmosphere means that the stomata (which are holes in leafs) can be smaller and therefore the plant is more water efficient. Therefore, the earth is greening in places of low rainfall (see Western Australia for an example). Hope that helps.

It’s also a geometrical equivalence, so that two surfaces can be called equal based on quantity of surface, rather than by shape. This way the increase of green land, whatever shape it might have, has the the same surface quantity as the US.

Give it another try, it's really not that hard. The modest increase in global atmospheric CO² has reduced water loss through the stomata in plant leaves living in marginally arid regions sufficient to allow those plants to reclaim desert in a combined area equal to the that of the United States. If you can't understand that you shouldn't be worrying about global climate change.

@jacobh2714 Ай бұрын
In simple words: more CO2 in the atmosphere leads to more photosynthesis by plants, and therefore to more vegetation. Since most plants are green, this worldwide increase in vegetation is referred to as "greening of the planet". The worst mankind can do is to take CO2 from the atmosphere and dispose it forever in underground cavities - CCS: Carbon Capture & Storage. By doing so, carbon is definitively excluded from the Earth's life cycle. This practice could be viewed as ecocide.

Could you tell me why all the graphs I've seen, beginning with the movie, An Inconvenient Truth, exclude the Mediaeval Warming Period? My cynical conclusion is that if it was included we would just be entering into a phase where humans had been 1000 years before, but that's not frightening so they leave it out.

Moore is not that guy. He’s a Greenwashing lobbyist. I actually like Jordan a lot. His psychological advice is amazing. I said it in my comment, But I find it’s funny that when he has a climate change critic on his podcast, they’re always in the pocket of some industry that’s not good for the environment. Why not have actual climatologists on the podcast? Most climatologists agree that An Inconvenient Truth did more damage to the movement than good. Because all the things it got wrong/alarmism it stoked gave Climate Change Skeptics more ammunition. But the science behind C02 as a greenhouse gas is sound. Look up Potholer54 video on Moore. (Ignore all the cringe Atheist crap, it bugs me too) He brings up many, many ways that Moore does not understand the data.

@@kingdancekiller Moore has done more good for mankind than you will in 100 lifetimes. Its an insult to suggest that making money is somehow against the scientific method. Pure marxist ideology. All life must struggle to survive, and to attack the man instead of his science is just plain lazy. Potholer is a good example of those who are scientifically illiterate in our society. There is no claim about CO2 that is true, except that it is essential for all life.

@@thegeneralist7527 Moore is free to make a buck, sure. But when you show a graph that supposedly shows “that C02 and temperature are not correlated” but fail to include Solar Activity in the models but then say “it’s the sun, stupid.” It’s either gross incompetence or willful blindness. And that IS against the scientific method of peer review. :) Expand your mind and watch some critical videos of the guy. “It’s the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.” I’m not an alarmist and while I don’t agree with JBP’s climate opinion. I understand it and there are several truths in JPB’s argument that climate activists should contend with. (Most of which are solved with Nuclear) However, the solution to advancing the climate debate isn’t calling upon industry shills like Lomberg and Moore to reinforce his viewpoint, he should have people who can present a counter narrative and they can figure it out.

The problem with GMO's isn't the GMO's themselves, it is that the plants have been modified to not be affected by Monsanto's RoundUp. They have also been modified so that the seeds are sterile. Monsanto's plan is also to patent the modifications, which means they "own" the plants. This plan was devised to take over the world food production but many countries have now banned GMO's mostly to prevent contamination of the non-sterile plants.

I hear you . What muddy’s the water unfortunately is that there’s many opposing factors at play. I do think Dr Moore is correct in pointing out that the activist lobbies are being manipulated to push forward sanctions on the people for invisible and unmeasurable threats. All the while not reducing the claimed threat, but clearly taxing the people further more. Wedging our freedoms further away from our grasps. What the GMO cartel is doing though, is creating a monopoly on farming that’s keeping independent minded farmers in a stranglehold. On top of it , if the last few years have taught us anything, it’s that the health regulatory agencies, pharmaceutical and agro industry complex, have weaponized these consumer goods against the health and best interests of the citizenry. We are ill equipped to concisely express these threats in any workable manner, however, some of us have noticed the perverse incentives that are motivating them. The precautionary principle is our only defence. However those things can only be measured in time , something the takers aren’t very tolerant of .

Whether that solution is mass evacuation or building cities/towns on raised plates like you see in Final Fantasy 7 - either way let's not completely write off some of the climate change doom mongering. Some of it is true...

Absolutely! Gives governments more power to regulate our lives and tax us into oblivion. It doesn’t seem like all the changes we have made have had no appreciable effect on weather patterns. In fact, changing from combustion engines to electric engines have created serious problems, environmental problems of mining and the use of slave labor to mine, plus the continued dependence on fossil fuel to obtain materials and run grids. It’s pure madness.

It’s so presumptuous for us to think we can build a thing and have it remain throughout time. Especially when we make such attempts right on or at the water’s edge! If you want a building to survive the test of time, you may want to consider a structure that’s as mobile as the earth on which it resides or perhaps relocate to a geologically stoic place like Mars or the moon…🤷🏾‍♂️

Many of us had a sinking intuition that we were being manipulated by the climate alarmist for years. Im grateful to finally hear other experts hash this out for the public in thoughtful long form content such as this podcast. I do have an issue with this podcast, Im hoping someone can help with. Regarding GMO. I avoid GMO. Not because Im randomly scared by things I can’t see though. My understanding is that the industrial farming movement and the inclusion of Glyphosate (aka roundup) is the problem. Farmers started to spray this toxic element on our food to the point where it wasn’t just killing pests but also killing the crop itself. The solution of simply not using so much poison and/or returning to natural techniques might seem obvious, but instead, our thoughtful friends at Monsantos, decided the better idea would be to genetically modify seeds to create crop fully resistant to the poison. Of course, they didn’t genetic modify our microbiome to be resistant, so we just ingest loads of poison with our food, and whitest doing so create all kinds of GI and other health issues. So my read of GMO, is basically (this veggie has been sprayed with so much poison that we had to modify the genes in order for it to grow…good luck with gut).

My mother was younger they claimed we were entering an ice age and everyone was going to die, then it was smog, then it was acid rain, then it was the oceans getting more acidic, then it was the hole in the ozone, then it was global warming, then it was the rising sea, and now we just have all over global catastrophe coming from humans and cow farts. I'm 48 years old and from what I've seen in my 48 years as we have more of a climate equalization. As in the winters aren't as cold in central Pennsylvania and the Summers aren't as hot. So we have more of an evening of a year-round temp. Which of these two will change looking at the geography of the state that I live in. Glacial till out here in the country in Pennsylvania is a big thing. We have tons of glacial till which tells me that there were glaciers in central Pennsylvania at some point in history. Dr. Moore talks about the 40 or so ice advances covering the country, the last of which occurred 20,000 years ago. I remember as a 12 or 13 year old after having learned about glacial advances and retreats in school or from a book (not sure) speaking about that to my cousins, aunts and uncles at a cottage on Georgian Bay. They laughed at the small boy who they thought was telling a tale. I later studied geomorphology and did a minor in microclimatology. Common folk compare their perception of earth changes to human life span periods of time rather than geological spans. That is a mistake which makes them vulnerable to mis-guided narratives like the current climate agenda. If only people would remember their high school geography classes.

The arguments aren't even vapid for global warming, they're seemingly non-existent and just pure cultural dogma. Any time I talk about this, I find it's key to state outright that we're all against pollution and should avoid oil spills, plastic islands, deforestation, etc. but the CO2/warming arguments always amount to 'there's research I haven't looked at that's too complicated to understand/explain.'

Cheaper for them to dump than to recycle. Best thing you can do at your end if you find this concerning, is to firstly reduce your own personal consumption and or throw the spent item in the trash. I knew it was only a matter of time until someone like Jordan interviews Patrick Moore. Kudos for this. Another great scientist to interview about the so-called global warming is Willie Soon. Looking forward.

I've been saying bits of everything here in the comments of every video on these subjects. I am so happy to finally hear people with an actual audience telling the truth. I had no hope of promoting these ideas. Thank you both so much. I will share this with as many people as I can.

My one pushback so far is on the GMOs. Do you not see a correlation between GMO usage and cancer?

Saying something causes cancer, I think, is the desperate plea of people looking for anything negative. Everything in some sense can potentially increase your chance of getting cancer, like the sun for example. Having said that, I do think we should be concerned about the food we farm. My guess is that gmos would be bad not because they are dangerous, but that they are bred to be higher in sugar, carbs and have less nutrients, thus leading to less healthy foods, but the answer to that, i think is to encourage farmers to cultivate healthier foods, not just sweeter or better tasting crops and not merely to ban gmos, because even natural crops can be still raised to be sweeter and less nutrients as well.

100%. I recently lost a friend to ovarian cancer at 46 and currently have another fighting leukemia. Far too many people are being diagnosed with cancer in their 30s and dying before 50. That's not normal

@joshuasummers7554 from personal relationships, politicians, doctors, scientists, teachers, bosses, cults, social groups, mass media, etc. Any can devise events that require you to give up rights or personal beliefs for a cause without you being in the inner circle of things. You backing down, relinquishing, getting out of way, shutting up, accepting reason without being allowed to question, etc gives them the advantages you and other might have obtained. It's.common sense to question claims that are designed to restrict you.

@joshuasummers7554 Because, it applies to everything. The ability to control itself is broad. One just needs to learn how it works to protect yourself. If you are not able to quantify it unless it is a specific event, that is how people become vulnerable to control. When someone wanting control over you does something you like and approve, that is the worst place to be. This is how people fall victims and are unable to see why they should question the situation. These same victims/people are more likely to see others (who they disagree with) being controlled than themselves or like-minded.
