The regulators must know they can't win in court over this and we know Sony don't 'need' to sign as they will still get CoD on their Platform - unless Sony actively goes out of their way to block and/or make it very difficult to port/optimise for their Hardware (by recalling or not supplying Dev-kits for example). They may have had a 'chance' to argue that MS's 'word' is not 'legally' binding and that they could 'claim' to bring CoD to all these Platforms, but then change their minds, go back on their 'word'. They could 'argue' with Hypothetical 'what if' scenarios -- what if MS pulled CoD from Sony in a few years, what if they don't allow other Cloud services to have CoD on their platform - not as if A/B would EVER deal with 'Cloud' anyway as they are 'Sales' focussed only - hence NO plans to release ANY game into Game Pass/PS+/GeForce or any other 'streaming' service. Basically EVERY argument is countered

@@BAMozzy69 perhaps. But what I think makes Sonys whole argument fall apart, is they have said the loss of COD would hurt them. That they believe COD wouldn’t ship on their platform etc etc. - Microsoft has a 10 year deal that pretty much can be renewed etc. Heck COD could even show up on PlayStation Plus. So all of that sounds great! - Then in February Jim Ryan President of PlayStation said he doesn’t want to make a deal for COD, he just wants to block the merger. That pretty much throws all of COD BS comments out the window. Clearly Sony doesn’t really care if they lose COD… yet they tell regulators false stories that if they lost COD it would be detrimental to them. One would think if that was their concern then they’d sign a favorable deal with Microsoft for the game. Yet they don’t want to make a deal… It’s like saying you want hot coffee, being offered hot coffee and not taking it.

If Sony doesn’t sign or agree to have it on their console, you cannot force them to. They’d look like the biggest asses in gaming if they don’t sign and the deal goes through. Microsoft has stated that they want to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation regardless, they just want a legally binding contract so that it looks better to the regulators

Bethesda games didn't go straight into gamepass when the deal was done it takes time so yeah June 6th is diablo 4 release date I don't see it coming to gamepass soon even if the deal goes through tomorrow

@@kevinlist3330 Okay I was 2 DAYS out the deal for Zenimax was closed the 9th of March and the roundtable where 30 games were added to Game Pass was the 11th and I don't believe I said they'd go straight to Game Pass as soon as the dal was closed I just said that they would and Blizzard and Activision won't have a say on that.

It's not even about choice. if the deal goes through, Activision Blizzard will cease to exist as you know it. They will be folded into Xbox, and their sole responsibilty will be game development, just like any other 1st party studio. When and where those games go, how they will be monetized etc., will be up to daddy Microsoft.

Define "Pushing the Industry Forward" and "Taking Risks" in this context. Because I am not sure what "Risks" Sony has taken in recent years. They have announced development into live service and mobile games which is new to them but considering how much money those kinds of games earn that is probably not the biggest 'risk'. Maybe you were referring to their VR efforts? Nintendo took some risks early on with the Switch Hybrid concept that paid off big but they have played it fairly safe after that. Microsoft has in the last several years popularized the Games as a Service model which has become a new standard that even PlayStation has emulated with restructuring PS+. They have also been one of the biggest early forces into cloud gaming which is mostly new territory and still in it's early years. Beyond that they took a risk by designing two separate current gen consoles to appeal to a broader audience taking the risk of no one wanting the weaker version Series S. They also took risks in bringing their console exclusive games to PC day and date which resulted in more people being able to play those games without needing to buy their hardware. Or a huge risk(that did not end well) in making Halo Infinite's multiplayer a free to play live service. So with all of that in mind I am not sure what you are qualifying as a 'risk' in this context.

@@cloudknight6128 I think it's clear to anyone who loves games and wants to see constant progression of the media why Sony are the kings. Yes, VR. To invest so hugely in VR and selling HW at cost price ( and yes I understand why they do that to get people into the ecosystem and buy their games). But remember their original VR wasn't that successful. Microsoft are all about the numbers now and starving out the competition, they have not invested in pushing VR, which I think personally is an excellent and very worthy medium. They don't want to compete with Sony in either VR or AAA exclusive development. Nintendo do not sell at cost, they make money on HW from day 1. and their HW is technically, basic, if sometimes innovative. The switch for me is a childs, or casuals play thing, a toilet console. It has a few exclusives but generally it's 5 year old game ports for kids who aren't allowed access to a tv. I'm not knocking the quality of the developers though, they're excellent with what they work with even if they aren't to my tastes. Gamepass as a service is diminishing the value and investment in games. It perpetuates average and takes advantage of developers who products probably won't make a profit on merit by purchasing their games for game pass at cost. Apart from the 3 exclusives, Forza, Halo ( just aweful) and ms flight sim.. niche. Yes there are goodish games but nothing which pushes the medium, just copy +paste blah. It's like Netflix but without the trust in the content creator and freedom taken away. Now think of HBO who care about what they do and make, generally, superb TV (and yes I know hbo max) but that is only part of their revenue. Sony invests heavily in unique games and knocks out several exclusives per year with massive investment and a lot of creative freedom. Look at the last of us, uncharted, god of war, ghost of Tsushima, final fantasy, metal gear, the last guardian, death stranding for example. Now give me 4 great MS AAA exclusives from the last 10 years? Name me 3 excited MS exclusives for this year. Give me one example of MS innovation from the last couple of years. Ive bought an Xbox every gen, and the last 2 got sold after 2 years of gathering dust and having no exclusive software to justify the purchase. And for me, renting average games on game pass doesn't give me anything like the same motivation to play them as it would if I owned them.

That 'toilet console' has literally outsold the PS4 and is on track to displace the PS2, but let's not get into that. As far as VR goes, while interesting is little more than a niche market for now. Sure, it'll likely grow but I think recognizing that not everyone may not be excited about VR as you are could go a long way. I for instance am far more interested in the possibilities of cloud gaming myself. I find the ability to play away from my primary device or to save storage far more practical than wearing a headset and waving motion controllers around. As far as games as a service and the subscription model goes for games. There is literally no evidence that placing a game on a sub(which has already been developed mind you) impacts the quality of that game. The resources that go into making a game all occur before that game is placed into a subscription or released for sale. On the contrary subs like Game Pass or PS+ have done a lot for getting games more exposure than if they were not included in such subscriptions. And you last paragraph is almost like a wikipedia reading of games released by Sony. Sure, a lot of them are well received but creative is a stretch when most are in the same genre of 3rd person action adventure games. And most of them are just long running franchises with new entries. That is hardly diverse. Sure, they have Ratchet and Clank(a platformer series from the PS2) and Gran Turismo (a racing sim from the PS1), God of War (Another long running series from the PS2) The Last of Us and Uncharted (Long running series from the PS3) Ghosts of Tsushima is a new IP that's fair. So is Horizon. The Last Guardian was....unique I guess. Xbox just for this year has the Season 3 update to Halo Infinite, Redfall, Starfield, Stalker 2, Forza and just published Hi-Fi Rush and probably some other games I am missing. PlayStation has Spider-Man 2 this year, some DLC for Horizon and If we are lucky The Last of Us Factions finally after the delays? Regardless all of that is a moot point. Game preference is subjective and people prefer different exclusives and experiences. This discussion began with asking about what "Risks" PS has taken and rather than directly answer you hard pivoted into Gatekeeping Nintendo, spreading misinformation about subscription models and giving me an entire list of your fav exclusive games.

I'm not sure your seeing this from an unbiased or elevated enough standpoint. I'm a gamer, the hardware I play it on isn't important, it's about the games. The last Halo was ...bland and technically archaic. More seasons means more of the same blah. I prefer GT to Forza but that's irrelevant. Forza has terrible wheel support and lackluster physics hence it isn't for me. stalker 2 and Forza Motorsport look good but me they aren't system sellers and hifi rush maybe innovative but it's far from a big budget game. Let's not forget, NOBODY IS PRAISING XBOX FOR THEIR EXCLUSIVES TO THIS POINT OF THIS GEN because there's hardly any of them. ** It's a risk to make big budget games and to make forward thinking hardware at cost, I'm not sure why you aren't getting that! You do know they can't start projects until the deal goes through so any projects will be started a little time after that and games take time. The average development is 3/5 years so obviously you ain't going to get a new project as soon as the deal goes through you Moron.
