EXCELLENT tutorial! Super easy to follow with clearly visible pins, markings, and captions. I also appreciate the absence of distracting talking. As someone prone to headaches, that’s a big plus for me! I can’t wait to get started. Thank you!

I hear you on that one. I usually turn the sound off and use the closed captions, I can't stand lots of natterimg throught tutorials. I don't mind instructions, but sometimes the person talking goes off on random chit chats about their aunt Fannies cat with 3 legs, lol.

I made some of these a couple of years ago and forgot how I did it. Thanks for the tutorial again! My grandkids use them regularly and they said they need some new ones. The really do help to keep from burning your hands.

I just randomly remembered that my grandma made some of these when I was a kid and thinking back on them they were actually cool, so here I am now learning how to make them. These seem to be incredibly easy and I'm excited to make my own ❤️

Please let viewers know that ALL materials: fabric, thread & batting MUST be 100% cotton so that even the cotton batting has NO scrim. Anything other than 100% cotton can ignite and cause a fire 🔥! The fabric bowl is great for cold dishes too.

Since some viewers may not know you have additional information on a blog &/or may just watch your KZfaq by happenstance so I didn’t want a viewer to not know that piece of information ~ there are horror stories of fires from not knowing (& thus using) material, thread or “100% cotton “ batting that had scrim which caused fires. Your tutorial on technique was very good, many viewers will love making this project❣️👍

There's a couple of ladies who have made a business sewing these in various sizes. I bought one for my daughter for Easter. They sell at pop up stalls in NSW shopping centres.

Thank you! I found another tutorial, and for some reason the dart instructions just weren't becoming clear to me - now I definitely get how to do this (and will be making a few of these ASAP)! I used 2 batting squares. This made my cozy bulky and awkward. So. My next cozy will be made with one square of batting.

Hmm guess you don't need fusible interfacing, guess I was thinking of something else but these seem quite simple to make! I'm going to find me some wrap n zap cotton batting then and fabric I like to make some! I could make a couple for my family to have

That depends on how deep you want the bowl to be. For instance If you want it deeper then increase the 2”. If you increase the 1” then the sides will be more upright.

You can make them any size. Just reduce the size of the dart

Thanks, this was super helpful! I have one question, maybe this is something I should have known not to do, but I cut my cotton batting on my "self-healing" mat with a rotary cutter. Now the mat has stripes of cotton fibers stuck on it where the cutter passed. The cutting wheel pushed fibers into the mat. How do I clean it and did anyone else have this happen?

Yes you can! Just use 100% cotton for fabric, batting and thread.

I don't know. I would put a piece of batting in the microwave for 2 or 3 minutes to test it out before I use it in a bowl.

I just started one tonight ftom another tutorial. I used cotton batting from Spitlight and Guterman thread with cotton (I hope all cotton) tea towels from K Mart. Will the Guterman thread be ok as I cannot find if it is pure cotton or not? I have several to make but will wait for an answer before going ahead. New to all this. Tku.
