Fun fact it was NOT a Whale that ate Jonah in the original Biblical tale, it was legitimately a Giant Fish. We know this because there was a Hebrew word specifically for whale, but they don’t use it, instead it’s referred to as Dag Gadol, which literally translates to Giant Fish.

Fun fact: veggietales has a cancelled movie, The bob and larry movie. The film was gonna be about how bob, larry, and the rest of the veggie crew met and started veggietales. Also they were gonna add actual humans in the film. Sadly, the film didn't make it but the materials are lost and concept art are shown. According to phil vischer (creator of veggietales) has the copy of the script but can't release it due to the franchise now onwed by universal pictures

Veggie tales is honestly such a great way to incorporate the stories of the Bible into a fun tv show for kids that’s also watchable for adults. It’s not like some early 2000’s movies that kids like but adults hate, these are genuinely great.

@Isaiah Garza Kind of odd that they did Jonah and not The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything, as Jonah is, in a way, the sequel, and its context is needed for certain jokes, like the cheese curls. Then again, I can't really blame them, because Jonah's nature as a sequel isn't really clear unless you watch both movies in the first place.

I heard that the animators started to get tired of working for the people who started it, for religious reasons, and the heads of the company had to keep hiring and rehiring more animators just to get the movie made, which pushed them way over budget, plus, the people who told them the budget had apparently been way to generous with their estimates, so the thing went so far out of budget it killed the company

Completely agree. Even as a non-christian now, I still find it enjoyable to watch, so I guess that goes to show how good the movie actually is. I had a lot of good memories watching this movie on VHS back in the day and I don't regret it one bit.

I was more referring to some movies that I watched where the message was shoved down the viewers throat and was not balanced with plot or character development. One pit fall I feel like a lot Christian movies fall into. Veggie tales is a really good example of Christian show done right. :)
