A 3 day adventure into the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex in Northwest Montana to packraft the Upper Middle Fork of the Flathead River. It was nothing short of amazing with taking a scenic flight into Schafer Meadows to start the 28 mile trip downstream to Bear Creek.
This section of the Flathead River is rated Class 3/4 as it is designated backcountry wild and scenic with no roads and very little encounters. Lots of wildlife and some really fun whitewater if you have the skills.
Big thanks and credit to my friends Kinsey and Zack for making this trip happen i could not have done it without you guys i truly appreciate this experience. Also for having a good eye for filming in which i could combine videos i had with yours to make this video. Cheers!

Thanks for your delightful medium low water trip down the Middle Fork. I’ve had the privilege to do four trips down the MF. The last one was in 1980 or 81 when we didn’t have self bailing rafts yet. Thanks again for your trip tour down this marvelous river. Would like to know the flow?

I’m see bears almost every time I go in. Or at least see fresh scat and prints. Lucky all have been at a distance and most of the time black bears (even though they sometimes look like small griz). I’ve used the same guide the past 20 years or so and those guys have some of the wildest stories you will ever hear. I mean…these guys help train seal team 6 in this part of the Bob. No joke.

I was wondering the same thing. I’ve fished the middle fork of the Flathead numerous times in the complex, but typically in late August/early Sept (right before Elk season) and the water is way lower than this. Still some good water for rafting, but more conducive to fishing. Absolutely insanely beautiful no matter when you go!
