The film is fairly good. But the book is a classic masterpiece of the last century ! Since the work is a long one I think a Netflix series of 10 episodes will become a wonderful film. A 2 hour or 3 hour film cannot do justice with the epic novel of roughly 600 pages by Salman Rushdie...,..

Are people really so unused to seeing Indians in movies that every film with an Indian cast must be "Slumdog Millionaire 2" or "Life of Pi 2"? Some people really have to get out more.

Took 5 days to complete the book. Also watched the movie.Good adaptation but I loved the book more as this is so deep and obviously it is not possible to include everything in just 2 hour film. Must read this legendary work of salman rushdee A bit tough!! But the twists and plots r amazing. And really well crafted ❤️❤️

@@mr.adventureboy8891 bro, this movie isn't adequate to convey the msg if there is one. If u can mng to read the book, im sure u wouldn't be disappointed. How a boy's fate is connected to the nation so deeply, how that boy is connected to every historical events in india- pak. Atrocities of partition and emergency period, and all the significant wars between ind- pak and role of that poor boy- Saleem Sinai- in all this. Its a great work of fiction over indian history spanning 30 years after independence and surely this cant be covered in a single film..

@@SachinDabral94 the story moves back and forth a lot. You need immense concentration and also a good memory; like people tend to forget what happened in the first chapter when they reach towards the end. That's when you start loosing the links. Literally a difficult novel and yet one of the greatest post our Independence. :)

Indian desi characters speaking english in india during 1940's is as unrealistic as american actors speaking hindi in bollywood film.

Its based on an English language book. But Idiots like you probably think South Indians speaking Hindi in a Bollywood movie is normal. just an FYI the film took place in "Bombay", where English at the time was official, and not Hindi. (In case your too unintelligent, Hindi is also not native to Mumbai)

I don't think you know anything about the book, sure the movie's not anywhere as legendary as the book but it's a good enough adaptation. Besides, you really have to be into Indian history to be intrigued by it anyway.

This is a not a good movie and a bad adaptation of a really good book....just because bollywood standards are low doesn't make a slow boring movie good!

Hopefully its accurate and doesn't have Muslim bashing, or other minorities. It deals with partition, where the a select group of Indians and the British divided India in two, into India and Pakistan. Muslims were to go to Pakistan, and Hindus from pakistan to India. However both these groups committed atrocities on each other.

I tried reading the book when I was in high school and it was really boring. I never finished it, and I got excited when I saw there was a movie coming out for it. This doesn't seem that interesting of a movie though.

I personally thought this movie was great. all the twists and especially when he married Parvati anyway and the childs blood is technically from the parents that raised him so they the real grandparents. i only wish Parvati lived though. but yeah loved this film.
