What's kinda sad is that no one cares about Dinesh D'Souza is that no one gives a shit about him. Say what you will of Al Gore, but at least he matters enough for South Park to mock him. I am so sick and tired of hearing this argument that both political parties and both candidates are equally horrible. I'm sorry, which party wants a wall on our Southern border to "protect jobs"? What party wants to evict a single religion over the actions of extremists in another country because that will "make us safer"? Which party has stated numerous times that homosexuals are lesser human beings and deserve to be treated as such? When you consider that the worst the other party did was nominate a candidate who doesn't know how to manage an email server and was led by a shitbag who stacked the odds in her favor (and was immediately ousted for it), you can't say that both parties are equally bad. When one party this election wants to literally tear America down and rebuild it into some kind of Rapture-esque society. I would love for both parties to unite for the best of our country, but at the time being one group has made it perfectly clear that there will be no unity. Right now, if unity is your goal, you do not get to sit on the side lines and be apathetic about it. As far as I'm concerned, this election, every single non-vote is a vote for a facist, racist, pissed off cheeto who so far in life has had life handed to him on a goddamn silver spoon, but now thinks that he gets to tell you how you need to live to make it.

So far no ones met that standard I would have probably voted Bernie in the general if he'd made it that far but it was obvious he wasn't going to win the primary here. So again opposite of apathetic just no ones deserved my vote thus far.

+Genin99 Indeed, we cannot force someone to change their minds - it just seems that when it comes to an election like this one ( where one of the possible future leaders is an overal hideous person like Trump ), surely even the most staunchly anti-politics person can see the need to put aside that stunbornness for the good of the people as whole? It's odd that even the possibility of a Trump as leader isn't enough to get him voting.

@j.e.g.95138 жыл бұрын
Noah Nesbitt Simple, everyone has the right to say what they want. Plus, I gave two possible reason for them. I would understand if you were annoyed by people that were complaining about something they don;t understand, but politics is going to affect them. Here is an example, there is a person that prefers walking or riding bikes, but complains about car exhaust Like how it smells awful or something. Do they not have a right to speak their mind even they they do not participate in car driving.
@pictonomii32958 жыл бұрын
Jose E Garcia Referencing a comedy routine and giving me reasons why someone my not want to vote are not rebuttals to my point. Driving a car isn't going to cut down on car exhaust, but voting in an election may further your own political agenda. Your logic and anecdotes makes no sense whatsoever.

Thomas Dixon, Jr., author of The Birth of a Nation's source play and novel The Clansman, was a former classmate of then-president Woodrow Wilson at Johns Hopkins University. Dixon managed to arrange a screening of The Birth of a Nation at the White House for Wilson, members of his cabinet, and their families, in what was at the time one of the first ever screenings at the White House. Wilson was falsely reported to have said about the film, "It is like writing history with lightning. And my only regret is that it is all so terribly true". Wilson's aide, Joseph Tumulty, denied the claims and said that "the President was entirely unaware of the nature of the play before it was presented and at no time has expressed his approbation of it." Historians believe the quote attributed to Wilson originated with Dixon, who was relentless in publicizing the film. After controversy over the film had grown, Wilson wrote that he disapproved of the "unfortunate production."

Really tired of this "We're the party of Lincoln" meme that you see in Republican circles these days. To claim that the modern GOP has anything in common with Lincoln is laughable at best and transparently disingenuous at worse.

Before that. They basically threw most of America (by which I mostly mean blacks and non-treasonous whites) under the bus after the 1876 election, in order to buy electoral votes from a few key Southern states. Not going to reply after this bc again, distraction is a tool. The road to socialism is paved with good intent. Our Republic is 100% incompatible with the Leftist ideology. They will not mix. Ever. I recommend everybody to watch Cabaret (on stage or the film) at least once during this election. I just saw a production a few days ago and some lines actually stuck out for me because they felt so relevant now. One character says "I can't ignore the Nazis anymore. They are my friends and neighbors." Probably not an accurate quoting, but how many times have you been shocked when people you know (friends and family) have come in support of Trump, despite himself. I also remember this line from the movie version during the Tomorrow belongs to me scene: "Do you think you can still control them?" Cabaret is a cautionary tale about what happens when you ignore or are disengaged in politics that could overwhelm and transform a nation for the worst. This is not the time to sit out voting (or just voting for president--vote for local government positions and House and State as well). We can't afford to be in our own bubbles, because they could be burst at any moment. We've got to be active to save our future and values.

Harriet, you live in a projection from media myth that was willingly programmed into you via the mind control media. How frightening indeed will it be when you finally realize that you were lied to, and then you try to escape with your very life? The dangers of not understanding history is that it can be repeated.

People are just trying to grab a hold of something relatable. Trump talks like a regular persone that's what people cling to, in any other way he's a copy paste polititian=talentless people who see stepping up in status and money/power as their only way to be above averange in some way.

I think people are tired of the blatant hypocrisy more than anything else. People are so single minded nowadays they can't even admit their party can do any wrong, whether they be democrat or republican. Hell people can't even agree on shit within their own parties. The moderates within each party are slowly getting replaced by extremists, all due to people just desperate for a change. It's all fucking despicable.

Sad to say the establishment will fix it so we'll be forced to choose once again between to massive corporate sell-outs. If a genuinely good candidate who really wants to help the people and change the system so it actually represents the common folk they'll crush him and make sure he can't become the nominee just like they did with Bernie Sanders.

I liked this take on the movie better than Brad and Dave's, if I'm honest. 1 point. we need to stop electing leaders. politicians aren't meant to lead. we need to elect servants. politicians are meant to serve the people who elect them, i.e. us. we've had enough leaders in office.
@RWright20068 жыл бұрын
I disagree with that completely. The real problem with politicians is that they're all servants. They're servants of the lowest common denominator and/or their wealthy masters. We need politicians that are real leaders. people who will do what they feel is right whether it is popular or not.
@thomasjenkins75068 жыл бұрын
King of Kong i can't agree with that. politicians are public servants. they should not lead us at all. they should serve the public. i'm against private financing of elections for that very reason.

Kowtowing to your party's voters is what lead to the UK conservative government bowing to the pressure of their supporters, and giving them a referendum vote to avoid loosing votes to the even more awful UKIP party...and the result of that was horrific. People latch on to the idea of polititians being 'servants' and take it way too literaly - yes they need to serve the public's best interests, but they also need to take a stand when they they as a leader know better. Every dumb fool with his friends down the pub thinks he knows how to run the country, every woman at the school gate thinks she knows what's best for all people because she's a mother and 'mama' knows best - but in reality the vast majority of the general public know nothing about politics and international relations, and have no idea what they really want or how to make it happen. I'm not saying the current leader in the UK is good, but I would rather a country be run by one party with one leader, than be run by a voiceless puppet been controled by the thousands upon thousands of confused, dumb, inexperienced idiots who voted for him/her. Imagine if that were the policy in the US, and Trump won. You'd be governed by the demands of the kind of people who voted for Trump...think on that.
@thomasjenkins75068 жыл бұрын
saying they are "servents," isn't saying they bow to every whim of the populace. a "servent" is someone works to benefit those they are sworn to represent. it's doing what is best for the people, not what is best for themselves.

Hey, man. I would have run for president, as I have a level head on my shoulders and I don't fuck around when it comes to helping civilians and consumers get what they need to prosper and to be happy. I have twice the passion and most of the education people should expect me to have in order to do it. But like many people in this country, I'm an impoverished nobody who's achieved nothing and who's barely scraping a living. I don't have the wherewithal to run for president. And there are likely thousands of equally- or more-so capable people who share this with me. Trump and Hillary are just able to run because of hugely rich or political backgrounds. Very few of us have either.

Voting, or consenting, to the system is only a sign of compliance with the status quo. Voting for Hillary or Trump in this election, or any other, is saying that you trust both the system and the candidate. In the case of the the Democrats and Republicans, they are a minority. It is the mass of the people, most likely independents, choosing to vote solely for those two choices as opposed to voting independent, or not at all in protest. If every independent refused to vote, less than 30% of the populace would have voted... that would be a clear sign of defiance.
@kkme78 жыл бұрын
To me it sounds as if he's complaining his hair is too long, but instead of doing something about it all he does is complain. There are other options to influence the political process than voting, although I admit it's the easiest thing to do.

+Darkcide1990 The canvassing that Bernie supporters screwed up on. Protests. Run for a local office. Send stuff to your representative telling them what you want them to do. Pay money to candidates or different organizations that do political work. There's a lot of stuff you can do besides voting. That said, I think you should vote, unless you really think both sides are the same. And we know this time it isn't. As bad as anyone thinks Clinton is, Trump is worse. It makes sense to vote for Clinton if only to keep Trump from being elected. But, of course, if you're in a state where your vote won't change anything, it makes sense you might want to protest vote.

The scariest thing is not what the major western states (eg. UK and US) have to say, though those have a major impact, the scariest thing is that there is a trend among European states to go towards the right wing. The US and the UK are more the decisive powers. There are pleanty of European nations who have already turned to "nationalist" parties.
