I want to write a story about a twelve year old witch struggling with her dark powers and dealing with drama with other kids and adults at school.

I'm a game dev, and I really wanted to find some good dark mahou shoujo story. Unfortunately, all dms mangas and novels were terrible (except Madoka, but I'm not touching that fandom). I'm following your channel in hopes of finding a good story. Not helping so far, but you are doing great! It's very rare to see a person so passionate about something!

As you were giving out tips for dark magical girl stories, I kept thinking of the anime Yuki Yuna Is a Hero, which was probably a dark magical girl anime, at least later in the series.

Another great video. While it IS an interesting sub-genre, I honestly can't say my interests really lie in the Dark Magical Girl arena. I DO love knowing it's there, and some of the mechanics of it, just in case I do decide to try it out. I don't ever wanna be limited by genre. That's the best part about your videos! Lightning strikes the towers of the metropolitan cathedral as our protagonist lights up the first one of the day. It's 4:20 AM, she stands in the middle of the plaza clad in a resplandishingly white trenchcoat and pointy wide brimmed hat in the style of the witches of the west her eyes glowing red like the tip of her cigar. People around her flee in panic, pushing, shouting and running, exactly as she had instructed them not to do. Noone bumps into her though, they all avoid her. The plaza was emptied in less than a minute, only a few people remain trampled and squished against the cobblestone floor. She stands there quietly, peacefully, as if she had just stepped out from the office for a cigarrette break, her silver hair waving in the wind. THE TYRANOSAUR BELLOWED and looked at her straight in the eyes, snout and jaws dripping blood a plasma cannon attached to it's left side. Best laid plans always disintegrate when they come in contact with the enemy but this was ridiculous. The fact is this was the second time an extint giant lizard breached the city wall and nobody even thought about it, not even her... Sorry for my bad english, it is not my native language (it's spanish) This is the first time I hear about the dark magical girl genre, and it kind of fits bery well what I'm writing about. My story has a LOT of world building and I kind of wanted to start as a slice of life kind of thing and get progressively darker into the story, but taking a tip from another of your videos I wrote this small intro, do you think it would be anough to keep people interested for a few chapters¿ the story isn't really about action but more reflexive and philosophical in nature, lots of dialogue on a wide variety of subjects. I was thinking in something like a dark comedy tone rather than something more serious and dramatic. and my main character is basically invulnerable, immortal, unstopable and only struggles with her own mental illness and the consequences of her actions....

Oh, I have in my head this lovely magical girl story, that's fairly dark: So, there is a parallel universe to Earth with an Ice Age and old-fashioned and bizarre tech level that's compairable to the XVIIIth century. On Earth, it's basically modern day Earth but with an organization called IPR: Institute of Paranormal Research, a highly unethical organization that does studies paranormal events using any methods they deam necessary and infiltrate a lot of infrastructure and public service in every country on the planet. On this parallel universe, there are several fantasy creatures, including elves who dominate a chain of wet tundra-covered Islands that are the equivalent of the Illushian Islands in terms of geography, but with a complexe cave system. The brother of the King has the ambitious project of expanding the Kingdom to an Empire, and for that he needs to modify elves so they can cover more expensive lands as a civilisation, which they are currently fungivore and thus, would have a hard-type building human-like Empire. The King, before dying, secretly took a human concubine who gave birth to twins, a baby boy and a baby girl as well as is the bearer of a magical seal that is destined to save her people from the king's brother's neffarious plans. The magical seals and two babies are portaled on Earth. So, the baby girl is adopted by a kind, upper-middle class couple who name her "Antoinette Soubise". Antoinette is a magical girl with ice powers, and the seal kind of gets lost in China and it's absorbed by a pregnant woman. The fetus would also become an important character: Mei Zhang, who's also a magical girl with power over grass. The twin boy is adopted by a French doctor, and receives the name Valentin (it'll be relevent later) and has magic powers, but he's not really a magical boy. He's...paranormal activities magnet. All these people happen to live and work in the same town and live rather happily until after staying after school late to prepare for presentations, and have to cross the cemetary to get to the nearby convenience store operated by Mei's mom and dad because the school is closing. On their way, they have to cross a cemetary, and they are attacked by a two walking skeletons (skeletons sent by Evil Uncle), and Mei, who grew up in California (to which her family temporarely immigrated), is not used to Canadian ice and quickly falls and gets bitten, and her bite mark show wisdom teeth. At this point in the story, they don't know about anything weird about themselves nor the world around them, and are just starting to become friends, so the two girls manage to fight the attack off through mysterious forces, but are both psychologically shaken, and after a few days, Mei's bite wound starts to get infected and requires medical attention. Also, Valentin is kind of the popular smart boy type of character our two girls crush over. Unfortunately, on of the doctors who worked there also works for the IPR and has under the pretext of anasthesia, managed to put Mei into the head quarters. However, since other weird things kept happening to Dr's adopted son, who he has managed to protect until then, the leader of the local head quarters, has kidnapped Dr's wife as a hostage. So now, things are running rock bottom, and all hope is lost, until. Twins and a seal are not the only things brought in from the magical world to Earth, but also some viruses, and while Antoinette's parents, Antoinette herself, Dr. and his kids (two biological, and Valentin) and Mei's family (her parents and brother) have gathered at some sort of necesseties store, they have been overheard by an Algonquin Couple who also share their story, of their daughter contracting a mysterious condition and also got kidnapped. Our dear doctor reveal the location of the place where they are all held. Meanwhile, Antoinette is going through weird "symptoms" of her own, which is her magical girl awakening, but she doesn't know that. Her skin has gone usually pale and she experiences pain in her shoulder blades and core, and she notices that she would be the fourth person of her entourage going missing after experiences bizarre symptoms. Now, all these people go on a camping trip, exept Antoinette's younger adoptive brother,to search for their lost relatives. So, they are finally able to find their headquarters, and their all shocked beyond belief at what they see, exept Dr. had lead them all along all along, so they can be delivered to the IPR. The leader of the headquarters gets a little too arrogant, and makes the mistake of attempting to r-pe his wife at gun point, which Dr. who wasn't comfortable with any of the kidnappings and torture he was blackmailed into doing, it was the final straw and he actually...kills the leader of the headquarters, and all are forced to make a run for it. The Alguonquin couple do see their daughter back, but as a Wendigo, although her symptoms are manageable through insuline, but has been permenantly disfigured and her mind is permenantly altered, but is able to regain self-control and empathy through regular insule treatments and proper nutrition. Sadly, she remembers what she did in berserk mode and what happened to her at the facility, and is basically severely traumatized for life. For part two, so Dr. gets in prison for falsifiying medical documents, and things overall get back to normal. As revenge and because of his own principles, he tries to tell the authorities everything he knows, but is killed in a prison brawl, or so the official version says. His wife doesn't believe the official story, as she doesn't believe a simple brawl could kill her husband. Also, so many questions are left unawnsered: the skeletons that bit Mei, Valentin's hauntings, the Wendigo virus and all other things and Antoinette's symptoms. Also, while captured and "experimented on" (more like plain tortured) Mei got her transformation, so this is also a new questions. Because plot needs to happen and Evil Uncle still wants to kidnap his niece and nephew for his eugenic research, another thing is sent to them, this time they (Antoinette and Mei) are teleported through a portal to one of the islands near the Elvish Capital. Antoinette accidentally kills a spider there, and they both get captured and forcefully dragged by an elven family to their equivalent of a police station. Mei tries to fight back, and manages to run away quite far before it's the actual police catching her, and upon her transformation, it allows her to even the footing by getting her able to fly as well, but because dry, lichen dominated tundra and inside a cave, their's no grass for her to use magic on, and there are both kind of stuck. Now, upon closer inspection, the elves do realize that they have stumbled upon some highly unusual human and tell the new King about it. He appears first as kind, and dedomages the family's who's spider has been killed and diplomate's his way out. During his time as King, evil Uncle passed several progressive laws, surrounds himself with the cutting edge scientists and mages of his world and granted the girls pardon, as they couldn't possibly know their actions were illegal in these islands, and to them, seemed very much like kidnapping. Overall, good, but for many reasons, he seemed unpopular with many conservative elves who disliked his new policies, part because many of his laws openly violated previous cultural taboos and caused economic uphevel, as well as conscription in an agricultural society to get enough soldiers for his war of conquest. Both girls are soon welcomed into the court, which is also an upopular decision, and Antoinette accidentally discovers her uncle's secret chambers, where she finds a mysterious woman who turns out to be her birth mother who explains everything about why things had happened, and that in all honesty, upon learning what happened to Mei, she apologized. Finally, Antoinette can activate her powers, and publically reveals them. Which gains the attention of her Evil Uncle, who then decides: "This is super interesting, wonder what an army of that means." He tries to have his way with her, but...Despite Antoinette being pubescent, nothing happens, and as she and Mei are trapped in a dark dungeon with magic-cancelling seals, the search for the lost prince is on, especially with all the information revealed by the two girls when they still trusted the Elven Court make him quite easy to locate. After months of "experimentation", it turns out that half-elves are infertile hybrids on our main girl and main boy, and thus the plan of conquest the Evil Uncle had was destined to fail all along. However, Antoinette has more than one trick on her sleeve and manages to seduce one of her torturers and manage to convince him that if he frees her and her brother, they could be both upon the throne and grant him full citizen rights he currently doesn't have. This, and falling in love does the trick and...They manage to contact their birth mother who transport the four of them to Earth, staying their herself.

I like your videos, but this gives me Ideas for "Magicial Saviors" fanfic i'm currently trying to write, Its based off a post apocalyptic world where humanity is on thr brink of extinction by Beasts from Above (Workshopping the name), which enacts my Main Protag Elizabeth ends up joining into the top Secret Magical Girl Project that allows them to fight them not realizing rhe burden in the end of being a magical girl, as she is now teamed up with other magical girls with various pasts.

How many times can i do redemption arcs before it gets repetitive? I've planned many characters for my w.i.p series. Very few good guys vs almost a whole army of supervillains, terrorists, mafia gangs and many more. Some of the bad guys do die but some i just love too much for them to be villains forever.
