I wrote a song in a New York hotel that I was proper proud of. Got back to Blighty and spent three weeks getting in nailed down with my band. The day before debuting it at a show, my drummer and I were sat listening to the radio whilst on a break in the studio and Best Of You by Foo Fighters came on. It was basically the SAME SODDING SONG with different lyrics. I was gutted. But it does happen. There’s simply not that many chords chaps!

I thought I had just written my first book. I was so goshdarn proud. When it hit me that actually, no, I had done nothing but copy something that existed, I was very sad and miserable.
