my only criticism with this dlc is there are so many large areas that end up having nothing significant in it like open fields at the end of a path. the abyss swamp itself had so many dead ends.

@@Shad0wmoseslore-wise it made sense for the Abyssal Woods to be kinda barren and empty, but still, it's my favorite area and I wish there was more to do. Personally I think it would have been cool to have a mini-boss in the woods before reaching Midra's Manse. What would that boss have been? Maybe a giant Winter-Lantern Fly, a mini Three Fingers or something, idk lol. I just think something, just one more boss or place of significance in the Abyssal Woods would have made the area more fun. In spite of the emptiness, it's still my favorite area, but I definitely think it could have been even better.

you did midra on JUST the right scadu-upgrade level for him to be still kindof challenging but not too difficult. sadly the abyss foroest was the last zone i found my way to after defeating all the other bosses and it was very disappointing how he was no challenge anymore whatsoever after such a cool boss introduction. since i do not have the patience to start farming all the gearsets of random enemies, ima just wait for vaati to drop some lore in hope to learn more about who nanaya is. i suppose the woman in the painting, that i literally know absolutely nothing about, except her name.
@Eclipsed_Embers2 ай бұрын
you can find Nanaya's corpse in the same building, along with her torch (which is actually a weak bit of Frenzied Flame at the top of the spinal column of a past failed Lord of Frenzied Flame). based on it's description she greatly treasures and cares for this torch. her motivations seem unclear. her care for her torch would make it seem that she wants to spread the Frenzied Flame, but at the same time she's supposedly the one that told Midra to "endure" which seems to be the main thing that kept Midra from succumbing to being the Lord of Frenzied Flame for a long time. given some bits of lore about various things we've gotten in the DLC I think the Frenzied Flame exists as a counterbalance to the Crucible. the Crucible constantly spits out new life, separating it into many distinct forms. the Frenzied Flame destroys all that it touches, breaking down all borders until everything is one once again. this balance between creation and destruction is probably important, and I suspect that a successful Lord of Frenzied Flame would end up tipping the balance too far towards destruction. I believe Nanaya might've been trying to spread the Frenzied Flame in a controlled manner, while actively trying to avoid a successful Lord of Frenzied Flame arising (even though Midra does eventually succumb it's mentioned in the description of the miracle that you get from his remembrance that he was too weak to become a successful Lord of Frenzied Flame anyway), this careful control would help to explain why the people in the building don't seem to have gone insane, even Midra's warnings seem intent on stopping people from coming into contact with him and the flame to prevent further spread (and if this prevention of further spread was in opposition to Nanaya's wishes I doubt he'd sound so fond of her when he mentions her name)

@Eclipsed_EmbersАй бұрын
around that time (not necessarily that specific trigger) is an important point for several quests but the only one that can really turn out negatively from a lack of engagement with it is Hornsent's (basically it depends on if you summon him for a successful attempt at Messmer's fight. if you do he'll stay friendly but you can't get his stuff. if you don't he'll end up being your enemy but you'll be able to get all his equipment later) the only real points of no return in this DLC are when Miquella's charm breaks (which has absolutely 0 warning) and the events at the Church of the Bud (again, there's no notable warning, but at least this time it feels like you're about to do something significant)
@brizzleyohАй бұрын

@Eclipsed_EmbersАй бұрын
@@brizzleyoh for Hornsent's sign the DLC does a little trick it does for several fights that are important to an NPC's questline and actually puts the summon sign inside the arena. it does the same for Igon in Bayle's fight and Thiollier in Putrescent Knight's fight this obviously brings the difficulty of having to interact with the summon whilst the boss is attacking you, but comes with the bonus of meaning that summoning the NPC won't boost the boss's health, meaning that the NPC's damage will feel much higher making them feel like they were a much more helpful part of the fight (to be honest I feel like Hornsent kinda carried me through my Messmer fight, he was the only reason I was able to beat him on my first attempt. same with Igon letting me beat Bayle on only my 3rd. both of those fights probably would've taken me at least 30-50 attempts if it wasn't for how good the NPC allies were. Thiollier was somewhat less helpful against the Putrescent Knight...) also, it has the added bonus that even if you forgot them you can end up spotting the sign during the fight as a reminder. it should be noted that for Messmer's fight you can summon Hornsent or Jolan (Hornsent's sign will appear as long as he's alive. Jolan's sign requires that you've rung the first bell from Ymir's quest but not yet fought Metyr), the moment you choose one the other disappears and ultimately Messmer's fight holds absolutely no significance to Jolan (also, having fought both of them since it turned out that Hornsent invaded me later on anyway, I'm pretty sure Hornsent is just the more powerful and useful NPC)

Watching the beginning of this video, and as someone who also loves exploring, no game makes it more satisfying than Star Ocean 3 (It might be a thing in other SO games as well, I can't remember). The game gives you an item when you explore an area and fill that map 100%. They're speed boost items, so nothing game breaking, but it's incredibly fun to zoom around the world and in battle. Most are only like 5% boosts, but occasionally you get one that, at first, cripples your character speed, but once you get the debuf off it boosts speed by 50%. So if you ever wanna experience what it feels like to be a cat with zoomies... xD

elden ring bosses are designed with solo in mind, you just have to create your own openings
@aperson9847Ай бұрын
@@Ghorda9 No they're not. You can't tell me that the final boss having holy beams shooting down all around him, including directly behind him, isn't proof that they designed him to take on multiple opponents and to still hit the player when the summon has aggro. The story of Elden Ring design is that they gave the player overpowered tools and then overtuned the bosses to compensate for them. You will never convince me and my 600 hours of experience with the game that this isn't true.

Also, I'd recommend giving 'Rings of Spectral Light' a try once you've got the Faith for it. I was VERY surprised by its range. You could try putting some Faith-boosting talismans just to test the spell out (18 Faith, easily doable imo), I think you will be surprised by its range as well. Try locking on some random mob (I tried locking into a sheep in the VERY FAR distance), and it will probably reach them. It's not quite "Lorette's Greatbow' kinda range, but it IS a bigger range than almost any other projectile spell I can think of (Pebble, Night Comet, Normal Comet, Stars of Ruin, etc etc, honestly it might even beat the Full Moon spell's range but I'm not sure so don't quote me on that lol) The damage isn't crazy, but you have to keep in mind that it's a 14-FP spell... No 14-FP spell is going to dish out an insane amount of damage. But it can be charged, a charged spells can be boosted even further by Godfrey Talisman Icon. So it all adds up in the end. I was pleasantly surprised!

I like the DLC because it still feels very open world and there is a lot of things to find. The only downside of the main game, for me, is there was a lot of places with out much going on. You had to run around a lot to find things.

When she is at the catacombs what is that thing in her right arm that shines as a torch? It's driving me insane I can't figure it out :D
