I want to echo the majority of the comments below: I REALLY enjoyed and continue to enjoy your Elden Ring playthrough, in large part, because you explore so thoroughly. It is a joy to watch you thoughtfully, patiently, and purposefully traverse the world, seek out secrets, and try out different styles of combat. I've learned, from your play style, how to really appreciate expansive games like Elden Ring :)
@shakycam32 ай бұрын
The one really bad thing about this community is the gatekeeping. There are millions of different ways to approach your playthrough and all of them are right. You’re like me. You like the exploration more than pounding your head against the wall for 4 hours with a boss while naked, level one using a stick. It’s perfectly valid to do that but it will never be me. Or you.

The whole "yOu'Re pLaYiNg iT wRoNg!" nonsense surrounding every From Soft game. It irritates me because the sort of person who says it have decided that they alone are the arbiters of how these games are "meant to be played". Ironically they are cheapening and insulting the colossal mount of work the developers put into Elden Ring, the developers having deliberately made a game that can accommodate so many play styles and character builds (they game has you pick a class right from the get go!) and reducing such an epic project into a pissing contest.

So true! I have never heard people doing this in other games. Like if you find a different weapon that is better than the one you have or you gain a new ability, no one makes a big deal about whether anyone should use it or not in other games, but here they do. I’m one of the people there for the lore and the environment. I clear out the enemies only because I don’t want to be bothered while I’m staring at the walls and ceilings lol. There is no wrong way to clear them out.

Honestly, watching your playthrough of the original game with a magic build using summons gave me the confidence to pick up the game myself. I chose to use faith so I had incantations instead of spells but it was very similar, and I ended up beating the whole thing! If I had to bash my head against a wall trying to beat bosses with only melee I would have dropped the game entirely. So thank you!!

Ev. The whole "git gud" people are THE reason im always ashamed to say im a part of the souls community. I can tell how much fun you are having, and im sure you put way more effort on your build that most of those people. You think what to use, where to use it, what to wear (fashion above else, as it should). You are utilizing all of this game's mechanics as it was intended from the creators. For what is worth: My take is that you are the one playing it "right". The irony of all, is that I saw your souls series years ago, doing different builds, and you were pretty good going "the hard way"! I will always prefer to see someone with a smile on their face, enjoying what the game has to offer, than someone raging, complaining and being stuck in a boss for 10 hours. Cheers!

Continuing to watch Gab, Sean, and Charlie (moist), and it’s super interesting to see their completely different perspectives on the story based on the different order they complete the areas and fight the bosses. I’m sure it’s tough as a game dev to tell a fairly linear story in a completely open world! I guess that’s why they need the seals at 7:15 to give order to the story progression.

What I'll say about using magic in Elden Ring is if it wasn't a good option it just wouldn't be available. The point is for people to play it, and the gatekeeping saying it makes the game easy is bizarre since there's multiple martial builds that also make the game stupidly easy. If YOU like to play with certain builds that's great, but it doesn't invalidate the players who like magic builds. Magic is strong but I've seen some pretty OP builds with just weapons too. Sean's BONK build when it staggers and bleeds annihilates enemies just as quickly as a magic spell so I really don't see the problem with Gab having fun playing magic and summoning her fav summon. (I'd get attached too personally. And I'm watching Sean alongside Gab, they both love their summons. It's natural imo) If you as a player like challenging yourself with finding obscure, difficult ways to play that's entirely fine, just don't be weird about it and gatekeep everyone who picks up the game. I enjoy watching Gab because she does like to explore and learn, but she doesn't bend to the gatekeepers in HOW to play it. She enjoys the way she plays and actively seeks out helpful tips to improve, I don't see why you'd take that as a chance to be a negative 'StICK OnLY' type of person. Plus, magic is just fun! In every game I've ever played I choose magic because it's fun for fantasy games, some folks just like being magicy and it's bizarre to get angry about it.
@theomegajuice8660Ай бұрын
It's also not uniformly easier either. Different playstyles will struggle more at different fights. Renala in the main game is crazily hard with a magic casting build compared to just bonking her to death
@TonksTheFoolАй бұрын
@@theomegajuice8660 Exactly. We've seen some fights where it's obvious that Gab has to be extremely careful or she'll get killed. Even with regular enemies, sure the magic can two or three shot them but if they get close, that's when you see the difference. I've seen strength builds struggle the exact same way, just in reverse. They get destroyed by ranged but decimate when up close. All it is, is a shift. She rules ranged but struggles up close. It's balanced af.

I am so glad you dont allow the crap community deter you from your enjoyment Gabs. This is my take it, if the devs put the mechanics in the game, they did so with the intention that you will use them. You can decide not to use them, just like you can elect to play with one hand or with your feet, but that has no bearing at all to how the game is supposed to be played. The only wrong way to play a game is to use mechanics like cheats or something outside of the programming of the game. I love your play style! I'm watching all your videos as they come out and waiting before watching other creators so I don't get spoiled.

SPOILERS AHEAD! Tip for gab! Gab, after the message you got in the front of Shadow Keep, that locked area with the Miquella seal is now explorable! That was the broken charm!

Gab also please remember you can level up your shields! If you are going to use them, may as well so they can block better. 😊

Oh, I love your new tattoo! I recently got my first one in the same place. It was small enough that lineart and color could be done in about 2 hours

The fact that people even have the audacity to complain about the way YOU play is beyond me.. there are thousands of other people playing this game that they can watch.. I don’t understand why people are even commenting such things. Personally, I LOVE the way you play, and your calming energy. Those people can watch someone else if your play style isn’t to their liking 🙄

This is a first playthrough of the area, not a challenge run. Anyone complaining about strats is really out of touch

The OP consumable items like Blessing of Marika and Golden Vow are for Mimic. If you equip them, Mimic can use them forever to heal and buff during fights.

A tip about the Royal Revenants, the horrid arm dudes that the Mariner was summoning. If you use any kind of healing incantation it stuns them and you can take them out easily. I suggest respecing and putting some in Faith.
