Midsummer in Norway - Beauty of the North: Part 1 | Nature Documentary
Watch 'Midsummer in Norway - Beauty of the North: Part 2' here: • Midsummer in Norway - ...
Part 1 - South of the Arctic Circle:
Norwegians celebrate the summer solstice on the eve of 24th of June by lighting large bonfires. The most impressive one burns in the town of Alesund. These celebrations coincide with the period of the midnight sun, which bathes the spectacular surrounding fjords in a magical light. While the locals enjoy this brief respite before the onset of winter, Arctic foxes raise their young in the mountains.
Midsummer in Norway is more than a bonfire on St. John's Eve. It's a brief sigh of relief:
Midsummer in Norway is a time when the sun never quite disappears behind the horizon, a time when Norwegians celebrate the end of the long winter, a brief sigh of relief. Apart from the festivities, there's a lot to explore in this short summer. As a sparesely populated country, nature is dominating in Norway. We travel through magnificent landcapes from the south to the north across the Artic circle.

*Midsummer in Norway is a magical time when the sun barely sets, casting a golden hue over the landscape. The country's stunning natural beauty is on full display, with fjords, mountains, and forests bathed in warm, glowing light. Traditional celebrations like bonfires and feasts add to the festive atmosphere. Whether exploring the outdoors or enjoying the local culture, midsummer in Norway is a truly unforgettable experience.*

I see that many people in the comments are worried about the young people making fires once a year. Norway is a rainy country, so despite being far to the north Norway is overgrown. With each passing year there is more forest in the country, so no need to worry. The forest also needs CO2 to grow, so the joy of the fire once a year to celebrate midsummer in a country with freezing cold winters is worth a few pallets made of poor materials. In fact, Norwegian politicians have for some reason decided that they will NOT include the forest in the calculation for Norway's CO2 emissions. How many other countries do that? Without CO2, Norway and all other countries in the world would be only sand, rock and stone.
