@@ajb.822 Here, too. A friend of my son stopped in and asked me if I had any soda. So I gave him the half glass of water and a spoon for the baking soda I'd plopped down in front of him on the table. He said, "No, I asked if you had any soda." I said, "that is soda". Feeling bad for his heartburn he obviously was suffering, I asked if he'd rather have a rolaid. He gave me a very strange look. My son walked in the room and said, "Mom, he wants a pop". Then I went off on him for his bad manners for having the brass to walk in and ask me for a pop. "..and, no I didn't have any pop". The ordeal reminded me of when my mom used to add kool-aid to a glass of soda water she mixed up. Not the same! (Don't ask someone from Door County how they say Smelt. They call it Schmelt.)

In the South, we usually call all soda "coke". It drives my husband crazy since he's from Ohio and they call it pop. I have to be sure to specify now which soda I mean when I want Sprite to drink or he will actually get me a coke lol.
