Charlie Berens, host of the Manitowoc Minute, stars in the trailer for the new Midwest Horror Film "Tell Your Folks I Says Hi" alongside Josh Burstein and Kristin Brey. Charlie welcomes his new neighbors in typical Midwest Nice fashion but they aren't sure his intentions are good. Inspired by films like "Get Out" by Jordan Peele, "Psycho" by Alfred Hitchcock, and "The Shining" by Stanley Kubrick, "Tell Your Folks I Says Hi" will leave you terrified that your nice midwest neighbors aren't as nice as they seem.

I'm from Wisconsin, neighbors are from New Jersey. I told them "anything you need, I'm across the hall." Then I offered them beer that they refused. Then I continued to say Hi when I see them. I even gave them a house warming gift. Now they make an effort to ignore me and not make eye contact 🙁 Wish I had Wisconsin Neighbors.

As a person from NJ, I can explain it to ya. In Jersey, we deal with a lot of jerks and even our neighbors can be crabby. So when someone suddenly is nice to us , it sometimes worrying because a jersey neighbor may use it against you. Jersey is a tiny New York , where we are all taught to be careful of everyone including neighbors. So don't take it personally, it's just how we are made.

When I was a kid we had a huge garden. You could hear doors slamming and locks clicking as my brother and I would approach our neighbors' houses with our wagon full of "extra stuff from the garden". It was especially bad the year the cabbages were all giant, weighing an average of about 10#s. I didn't eat cole slaw for years after that.

Someone above mentioned that southern city people can be jerks & they're right. Paul & Johann Newman bought a house near Atlanta & planted a huge vegetable garden in their backyard. But it made the neighbors mad because it skewed & "blighted" their upscale property views. And they repeatedly complained to the HOA about it. However, Newman dealt with their gripes by secretly leaving bags of delicious fresh grown produce on his neighbor's doorsteps & mailboxes. Eventually he won them over with his generosity & they stopped complaining. Newman was born & raised in Ohio. 😉

Many years ago in Da Buque I had been there maybe a week on a project. Got invited to a "Steak Fry" at the Dyersville Catholic church. Did not know a swinging Richard but as the token Southern Baptist Texan I was adopted. Even the Father made rounds with me at all the casino tables and warned me away from the little old ladies playing Uker. Yes, them nice old ladies would cut your throat. Two weeks later I am invited to a 30 year anniversary party at one of the big Da Buque Catholic churches. My wife and I were center stage on the many chicken dances. And the more beer drank, the more chicken dances. After almost 2 years of being the token Baptist Texan I had to leave. So many fond memories. Except the one of the snow plow driver. There is a special place in hell for them people.

I'm a Michigander born and raised. The lack of light knocking on any door- or window-frame is the true horror here. You can't just stick your head in the window without tapping the sill first, or at the very least saying "knock-knock!" in a cheerful voice.

I don’t live in the Midwest but I’m offended that my new neighbors don’t talk to us. Who’s going to eat all our extra veggies?! They’ll rot on the vine!! The only thing they’ve ever said to us is “you need to keep your dog on a leash at all times.” What are they from NYC?!?! 😭 I’d be a little more understanding if they also leashed their dog, but they don’t.... I meant this to be just a funny comment but I got too worked up just thinking about it 😅 I guess that’s the difference between rural Northeast and the Midwest. You guys kill em with kindness, we just boil away quietly until we burst
