Every December, I like to do a midyear curriculum check-in to see where were are at in our current curriculum choices - are we ahead? are we behind? Let me know if you do the same thing!!

I just did this during thanksgiving break! To make sure we were on track for our Christmas break. I love doing these checks throughout the year 😍 Checking how many lessons for each curriculum and matching it up to our breaks for the rest of the year. Definitely gets me motivated for the new year

I'm really hoping to do a similar planning/looking at the big picture the week after Christmas before we start again. I don't usually do it in such an organized fashion and after several years of homeschooling, I've learned that it will be very helpful.

Angie, I know this wasn't the point of the video, but I love your decor style. So cozy! 🥰 We have the Abeka K5 Math book but haven't started yet, and I'd love to hear more of your thoughts about it.

I totally do this too. My planner (A Simple Plan) has 36 week spreads for each subject, and I love being able to map out what week we are in and how much we need to do each week to finish on time.

I know exactly what you mean about not having the time and mental energy to really look at the long term projection of my plans. I feel the same way! I just checked through our stuff too.

I do this every 3 to 4 months! It always makes me feel more at peace even if we are a little behind.

If your younger kiddos only miss a few lessons at the end of Abeka, just know that it's usually what they cover in the first few lessons of the following grade, so it's almost like review and they do it this way so that you have some flexibility in missing some lessons. I hope that made sense! 😊
