What an amazing video. To think that this thing was state of the art in the 50s or so... well, obviously some things don't change, swept wing transsonic flying is still just that. :) I'm a humble night-rated private pilot and I remember how the 135 or so knots IAS of a Piper Arrow felt way way too fast for me when I first flew it and I just couldn't seem to keep ahead of the plane... and this thing cruises at 500 KIAS or something?

the "sense" of the pitch indication on the attitude indicator is logically inverted from typcial western aircraft. The instrument is essentially fixed in inertial space and the aircraft (and cockpit view) can be thought of "rotating" around it in pitch and roll. When climbing or descending with pitch/attitude changes, the "ball" appears to move backwards from what you will find in US aircraft.

In Mozambique, during the late’80’s there were mig fighters and they usually flew around from the airport to the beach and then back again. One day the migs didn’t make it back and crashed into the river. The tail fins stuck out at low water . The pilots were Cuban. I have my very own thoughts on why they went down.

Ponder this if you will: The last MiG15 was built about 65 years ago, so that is at least as old as this jet is. And it is very obviously still in flying condition, and in good flying condition too. I kinda doubt that you will somehow make an F-35 take off around 2080. Hell, I'd be surprised if you find spares in the 2050s. Russian technology was built to last.
