Mayuri/Nemu vs Pernida is the craziest battle of the TYBW arc to me. I really hope it gets properly highlighted in cour 3.

Nemu at max power is how I feel Bankai should be treated, not in terms of sheer power but in how costly it is to use and maintain, otherwise we get things like Arrancar arc Ichigo who never drops bankai.

Some people try and tell me that she isn’t Mayuri’s strongest weapon and creation but she proves it here and Mayuri shows that he is always ahead of the curve in every battle since he knew to make a fail safe in her body in case she was ingested or parts of her were that’s why he made Nemu’s pituitary gland deadly if ingested on it’s own causing the monster or creature who ate it to have excessive growth leading to it’s self destruction Mayuri is always ahead in one way or another he did it to Szayelaporro when Szayel absorbed Nemu’s life force and was reborn he ingested Mayuri’s superhuman potion because Mayuri put it inside Nemu before that battle in case she was eaten or absorbed in a fight that’s why he’s the GOAT Mayuri is the only one to actually kill an elite Sternritter no one else did not Kisuke, Shunsui, Kenpachi, Byakuya, or Toshiro

Mayuri is basically the Rick Sanchez of this series. Has a contingency for literally everything.

Another way to albeit more dirty analogy would be to say that this is an imperfect type of Mugetsu. Unlike Ichigo who could survive using that ability Nemu use would effectively end her for all practical purposes. Still makes her hands down the strongest Vice Captain that we have feats on. Makes me wonder where sasikibe falls on the power scaling🤔 No matter Nemu is #1

Kubo really does love this motif in his writing. The power skip that has a often bad or detrimental effect on the user. Its only through hard work that a person can gain a permanent strength as we see with ichigo.

I think it has something to do with the power of the soul especially with the upcoming hell arc. And the entire concept of soul reapers performing that thing to pass on souls to keep balance.

I think this fight and her power boost was even more impressive because we finally got to see her real emotions, not just being blunt doll ❤

Don’t know if you read Boruto but I think Nemu’s overdrive mode kind of works like Baryon mode where you burn up your soul to gain immense power for a limited time.

Dang I didn’t expect myself crying over Nèmū today but… man is this such a standout moment in the war… a character lost in a blaze of glorious combative achievement… making her spirit daddy proud killing Réīô’s Advancement! Basically became exactly the death machine necessary to save her father in such a dramatic way it Almost completes Mayuri’s Character Growth arc as she’s finished his arc of Being a father whos probably learnt to care for and believe in their child, regardless of all the details… I expect it to feel like one of the heaviest moments which might be totally dependant on… 3 voice actors and some excellent art? We do know Kubo loves these characters in particular so I’d not be shocked if Everybody cries during this moment in the anime! : D Bravo, right? Such an impactful moment for humanoids to even experience or have full comprehension of their own surprise over how their creations grow beyond their creators’ wildest imaginations! It means a lot and making it Felt More may be one of the best moments of this bit of the anime’s serialisation! It’s like marineford for the boy who wouldn’t cry naturally but maybe will evolve himself in seeing what she achieves… Why do all the blade folks have to die this arc!? : / Missing both Yáchīrū characters still! But this is a Real moment for these V.A.s to show us what they can do! Kubo really nailed making a classic moment with these scenes so I’m trying not to expect Too Much but… I think it’ll still hit regardless… everyone that rememebers the full character arc while watching is gonna get emotional… Lean into it and even give some sad one piece flashback vibes if necessary! I believe in the story when it hits readers/viewers like this moment feels! I just hope the scenes don’t feel Rushed through! I want all the dramatic closeup reactions of the characters & mayuri’s Shock as his daughter dies saving him and most of everyone else that’d otherwise be endangered… Always enjoy a proper shonen god battle but here it’s a heavier impact when it’s a characters child sacrificing themselves for other like a real hero while probably never thinking about heroics! Really hope moments like this are brought to life with the right timing and pacing so people finally see how far Mayuri has come and how much further Nemu has than he can even comprehend!

Mayuris inventions are consistently shown to scale above him in terms of power so it makes perfect sense for Nemu to be thus strong. Kubo decided to draw her as extra thicc for this arc😏

I think theres a video to me made examining the parallels between mayruri and kenpachi, both loners with their loyal followers, both memories of a more cruel gotei and both with vice captains of their own creation

Kon, mod souls, Ururu, Nemu and then the latter two's combat forms. I think these all represent designs and ideas Kubo never managed to fit into the story, but were parts of the world he really wanted to include. Mayhap if Bleach or its British witch counterpart ever get more content, the concept of artificial souls will be explored more. One can only hope.

I still don’t understand how Nemu is supposed to surpass everything Urahara has done up until now? - he created the hogyoku on a whim - has Ururu and Jinta for the worst case scenario - trained Ichigo who is a legendary hero in soul society

Nemu probably had this power all the time but did not use it because she felt Mayuri could handle anything. And she just allowed herself to be treated badly to somehow help him out. But when she sees her Captain\father figure in real danger she flips the switch and becomes a demon. It was great to see her shine for once.

I've always thought Nemu was one of the top 3 Lieutenants.

I like the contrast that Nemu was basically a robot until Ishida showed her how love can push you to do great things to protect what you love. Thus Ishida felt it was needed to make a great sacrifice. Nemu did the same thing here for someone she loved to protect them at an even greater cost than Ishida's. As far as strength goes, the argument boils down to who is strongest between Nemu, Renji, Kensei and Rose. Mask mopped the floor with Hisagi, Yumichika, and Ikkaku, and after some boosting from James pooped on Rose and Kensei. Renji no diffed mask, so that to me places him deep in captain level. Nemu had to carve her soul out and kill herself to damage and disperse Pernida, so is it a greater feat sure, but Renji didn't die. As Byakuya said himself you can't protect shit if you're dead. If Renji went kamikaze with a Final Zaga Teppo I'm sure he could reach far higher heights then Nemu. But this is all extrapolation from what we've seen.

That line at 17:31 from Mayuri, he really got attached to Nemu. I kinda wanted to see this changed version of Mayuri earlier in the story, to see him break away from the sadistic mad scientist with no respect for human life and to have treated her a little more than the thing he created. After all Nemu is quite the likable character when she shows emotions and I was sad she died. Well, spoilers alert, at least Nemuri Nanagou

Soooo... Nemu in last seconds was like Ichigo FGT?

This power up seems to be close to what ichigo gets with final getsuga. Nemu uses her soul as a fuel for power, and it is an incredible amount of power, but it had time limit, the same way that Ichigo's power did. The way in wich Pernida is defeated, seems to imply that Nemu should be able to live forever, the same way usual soul does, but in the same vein as Ichigo putting everything on the line burns this power.

This overclocking thing has been a consistent trend in Bleach (and a lot of shonen for that matter). I wonder how much it lines up with something like Mugetsu (since Isshin knew about that), so I always thought Kisuke and Mayuri effectively made a synthetic version of that in their respective labs, but in Mayuri's case it was done unintentionally

I feel like regarding raw power mayuri and pernida aren’t really displaying much of that. Like let’s take the rest of the schutuffel they’ve all had large and flashy attacks that decimated lands but pernida didn’t, it’s power is mainly in its adaptability and hax same with mayuri. It didn’t seem to be too durable just impossible to kill. Which is why seeing nemu possibly do the most destructive damage in a large scale seems so impressive which it really is. All i’m saying is that someone like renji might be able to do the same regarding destroying pernidas arm but regarding raw strength that’s about all they’d be able to do. Not actually beat pernida. Realistically those attacks that nemu did pernida was able to almost instantly recover

Goddamit, Nemu should have done so much more, should have broken free from Mayuri, and should have been given the opportunity to choose a death truly on her own terms for her own reasons. What she got was straight up abuse apologia, and Mayuri only felt bad for like 3 seconds afterwards because Nemu wasn't even human to him, just a product of his genius. On a more fanciful note, she and Uryuu should have skipped off into the sunset after Uryuu joined Askin's attack on the 12th Division as a pretext to finally put Mayuri down.

The thing is, Nemu isn't that powerful at least not all the time. She's able to accomplish these insane fears by shaving off her very soul which essentially will lead to her death. It's kind of like the 8 gates technique from Naruto. If she's not capable of these feats on a normal basis, then I think your previous ranking of her is pretty accurate. I do think Renji could actually hurt pernida since he's capable of hurting Gerard while in Shikai. In terms of raw power and physical stats, Renji is in fact superior to Mayuri by a significant margin.

Funnily enough, Nemu and Ururu are two of my favourite Bleach girls, guess I got a soft spot for cute girls who can turn dangerous with a flip of a switch.

Nemu is always on her back in all her fights. The only thing powerful about her is her fanart.

So Nemu basically activated her version of the Final Getsuga.

I’ll be honest. She’s incredibly powerful but I do think it would have been cooler if she was able to maintain a 100% against Pernida after using vollstandig. It would be a nice chance for the anime and her death would still achieve the same outcome.

Mayuri has Nemu on roids, but probably has a rule where she's not allowed to really do anything unless he says so or he's about to die.

Renji is definitely stronger than nemu. Yes he could do the same thing as nemu to pernida. Honestly the fact that pernida was taken out by mayuri and nemu shows it's really not that strong and the weakest of the royal guard.
