In "A Star is Born," Tommy and Bulk both audition for a martial arts commercial at Angel Grove High School, but Bulk's lack of skills earns him a sarcastic "looks like we found our man" from the judge. Meanwhile, Rita is feeling unwell and tasks Goldar with destroying the Power Rangers. The Rangers are ambushed by Scorpina and Putty Patrollers at the beach, and Tommy's distraction causes him to leave his communicator behind. The Rangers are trapped in a cocoon, but Tommy eventually joins the battle with the Dragonzord, and together they defeat the baseball-themed monster Babe Ruthless. However, Scorpina returns with a giant bug monster, which the Rangers defeat by forming the Mega Dragonzord.
