NDB approach and landing runway 17L Casablanca airport (CMN GMMN)

Approaching Casablanca we had to hold above SAK NDB. In the holding we had a beautiful view of the city and other traffic around us. After more than 15 minutes we where able to commence the non-precision approach towards runway 17L.

I am from Casa, And the HOLDING At SAK is absolutely stunning the view of traffic from the ground is even more beautiful holding above the city at low ALT and High speed ;), nice recording by the way.

Hey Michaël, weer een heel zonnige bijdrage. Inderdaad mooi uitzicht vanuit je 'office' dankzij de hold. Met ndb-landingen heb ik niet zoveel ervaring in mijn pc-simulator. Nog wat info nemen op dit soort naderingen via KZfaq en documentatie en dan eens proberen hé, bv. op Casablanca. 😉😀

I have enough footage... but no time... (Sounds strange when not flying)... In the meanwhile we slowly started our operations... and I have been flying twice already.. Both flights I didn't record.

Wat een gigantische hoeveelheid letters kwamen er vanuit de ATC. Kunnen jullie daar nog wijs uit? Moet wel natuurlijk, maar in mijn beleving was dit wel heel veel. Verder weer heel mooie beelden, waar ik van genoten heb. Paste precies bij het weer hier in Holland. Je collega zette het toestel mooi aan de grond, waarvoor mijn compliment. Nu aftellen naar het echte werk. Hoop dat je snel weer de lucht in mag. Hartelijke groet, Wim

Nice landing , ik moet toch eens kijken hoe een holding te programmeren op de FMC , meestal doe ik dat op de hand met een 1 minuut leg . Fijn weekend.

Why it doen't say this when an aircraft is close to the ground because the captain want to approach? Is it, because the plane "knows" that there is an airport near and the pilot wants to approach?

great video every time you get cleared to a flight level by ATC do you update the CRZALT in the FMS ? also can you fly nav aid apporaches like an NDB or VOR using lnav and vnav ?

I don't update the FMC CRZ alt... because I have entered the final expected CRZ alt for the first part of the flight. If the CRZ alt will be higher... then I'll adjust the FMC

Yes you can use LNAV VNAV for non precision approaches like a NDB of VOR approach. It is even a preferred setting for these type of approaches. IF IAN is installed on the aircraft.... you can use that as well.... You will get the presentation of a ILS on your PFD for a non precision approach.

We doen altijd eerst 40%... dat is om de motoren op te laten spoelen... dat gebeurd niet altijd synchroon.... na 40% gaat dat wel synchroon, dus dat is voor de veiligheid. Dus mocht je van Idle gelijk takeoff thrust zetten... kan het zijn dat 1 van de motoren sneller op takeoff thrust staat en dus een momentum naar links of rechts kan veroorzaken die je misschien niet direct kan opvangen.... dan zou je theoretisch in het gras kunnen komen te staan. Zag je vraag.... maar kon hem niet meer vinden. Vandaar dat ik hem hier beantwoord. Groet, Michaël

Michaël Super bedankt voor uw antwoord Had idd de vraag gesteld over de gashendel maar verwijderd stond bij een bericht van bijna een jaar geleden mijn excuus daarvoor Dacht ff dat leest u niet meer Vanaf hier nog velen veilige vluchten en ik blijf u kanaal zeker volgen Vriendelijke groet Dirk

Hi mightymkl ! I have a question: I’m playing a game where it is realistic bcs There are ATC (player who become it) I’ve already flown Transavia with the callsign « 39V » like you in one of your flight, but the controller told me it was incorrect bcs the IATA code for Transavia is TRA and your callsign must begin with « Transavia »... is it correct or I can take for example « 39V » or « 5E » ,...?? Thanks

We have a flight number as on the ticket. HV1234 Then we have the callsign... which is always. TRA1234 or TRA12RV or something like that. TRA12RV is called Transavia 12RV but if they don't know the name of the company... they say. Tango Romeo Alpha 12 Romeo Victor. In my films you would only hear 12RV... this is because I edit my audio. I do this to make more films... Thats it... Hope you understand.
