I like how Miguel is an untrained fighter, so he just sort of makes it up as he goes along. And with the gameplay aspect of looping in and out of SAV, you're basically making it up as you go along too. His gameplay fits his lore perfectly.

@Otdreamer193 I hope T8 will have some closure for Miguel. His T6 ending of almost reaching Jin was canon, after all. He was so close, yet so far. I think it's about time he gets more of a participation in the story.

Something useful that very few people seem to know is that Miguel has access to a generic d4 by doing db 3+4. 12f high crushing low, great for interrupting, frustrating your opponent and round ending.

Thanks for this. I main miguel and i've hit a wall. sometimes i just need someone to remind me of what this guy can do. And you're pointer that SAV d3,4 is better as a close quarters mixup move than SAV db+3 since it has faster frames. It looks sillier and not as hard hitting, but when i land two of these while i do a staredown in SAV, it pretty much makes my opponent feel they're gonna lose.

Started learning Miguel recently, he's a pretty cool character and is, to me at least, surprisingly honest compared to a lot of characters in this game. Then again, this is tekken 7, so being honest in comparison to the absolute cheese lords maybe doesn't mean much 💀

was expecting you to touch on f4,2 more, i17 so pretty fast, insane range, and given how long after the 4 you have to input the 2 you can quite reliably situation confirm the 2 making it, afaic, his best whiff punisher from bd. the speed gets compensated for how readily you can preemptively input the f4. and the second hit is a ch launcher which can help to compensate for the less than stellar block situation for f4. f4,2 on hit also sets up b2,2 to ch launch any getup kicks, which is likely as people try to whiff punish the whiffed b2, very gross tech. one other move that you likely just forgot to note, db3+4. prob one of the best range generic i12 lows in the game, really helps to compensate for people fishing with fast mids trying to interrupt the rest of his lows. great rhythm halter and get-off-me tool.
@AdezeosClips
@AdezeosClips Жыл бұрын
f4,2 is not hit-confirmable, it's commital. You have no confirm window to delay pressing the 2.
@poultriarchy
@poultriarchy Жыл бұрын
@@AdezeosClips situation confirm =/= hit confirm. Your comment implies you need to press the 2 on the very next frame after you input f4 which just isn’t true lol
@AdezeosClips
@AdezeosClips Жыл бұрын
@@poultriarchy By situation confirm you mean visually checking for the whiff? But that's what you should be doing all the time when you're whiff punishing anyway... But yeah, I was talking about the input window for the 2, you cannot check if the 4 hits before pressing 2, you have to immediately press 2 after f4 for the full string to come out. If this was actually possible, Sephi would be using it so much more often but it just isn't the case. It's commital, you can just test it out in the lab.
@poultriarchy
@poultriarchy Жыл бұрын
@@AdezeosClips Sephi uses df1,2 to whiff punish a LOT of moves. It's not hit confirmable, yet he will even whiff punish jabs with it. And it is almost NEVER blocked, unless he is using the 2 extension as a mindgame for a blocked df1 intentionally, which is a different purpose entirely to whiff punishment. Df1,2, and moves like it (Kazumi df1,2, ws1,2, Steve ws1,2, Feng df4,3, etc) aren't hit confirmable, yet it is easier to whiff punish with them than single-hit options because you don't have to hard-commit. You use the first hit of the string on a twitch reaction or preemptively, and you have all the way until you need to input the second button to confirm your initial call. If any of the aforementioned options I noted were single-button inputs they would just be straight up worse for the purpose of whiff punishment. Have you yourself never played a char with a common tool like that and only let the first hit rip because you flaked out even though you intended to use both hits? It's very common haha The fact Sephi doesn't use it much doesn't mean it isn't great. Glaciating and Rancafe both use it a lot. Frame even mentions in the video we are talking under that he was surprised to learn about Sephi's reliance on f1+2. Miguel is a char who has a lot of somewhat specific whiff punishers that all have notable downsides, so it isn't a surprise in the slightest that Sephi happens to opt for choices other Miguel players might not. 2,1 is stumpy. f1+2 is a high with dodge recovery. 3,4 is stumpy and sometimes inconsistent and death on whiff. df1,2 isn't very rewarding. f4,2 is relatively slow. df2,1 is launch and sucks from bd. hopkick is -13 and sucks even worse from bd. d1+2 is slow and is a single input. etc etc etc, you sorta gotta pick your poison at some point.
@AdezeosClips
@AdezeosClips Жыл бұрын
@@poultriarchy True, point taken, I shouldn't have used Sephi's usage of the move as an argument; I don't use f+1+2 that much myself either outside of setting up keepout moves because of its pushback, but he gets a lot of punish mileage out of that move. I'm really just used not to following through with the 2 because it's gotten me blown up more times than I can count (that's probably me being bad at judging range). But f4~SAV alone already opens up a lot of opportunities for you even without the knockdown, and also even when blocked. If you throw out the 2 in matchups with -12f knockdown punishers, you get in a lot of trouble. I'm not saying it's not a great move, because it is, but only as a punisher (I love how it punishes Deathfist even at tip range). I'm just saying you have to commit to this move, and it's too easy to throw out the 2 and get punished for it. Perhaps people with tighter game sense can throw the full string out more often, but unfortunately I'm not such a person.

Jo frame. Your guides are the best. I am not saying this to jerk you off. I learned a lot of characters on my own. Always needed significant time to get them going. And i am already somewhat okay in the game. Tekken god on main. But with your zafina guide, i shit you not, i needed 70+ wins to get her from red to fujin. (And immediatelyafter your guide, i said to myself „holy shit, zafina had such a weird and „hard to learn“ impression on me, that guy made her feel completely natural and intuitive.) i dont even know what is it about your guides, that is different from others, they just are.
