Nothing beats these first season comedy scenes! They were all so natural and I'm sorry Robert Reed thought this was just silly (Reed thought no one could actually slip on eggs until he did it by accident in rehearsal) but no one else could have been the perfect father for these three girls and this scene proves it. 🤗

@raea3588, yes, but he loved those kids as if they had been his. So, there’s that.

The comedy scenes were what really killed Robert Reed because despite how funny he was able to be, he hated being silly. He was always saying, "Sherwood, I'm a serious actor, I am not a comedian!" and Sherwood would say like, "Well, I'm sorry Bob but you signed a contract so you have no choice. Now make it funny."

@@alexanderpytko5394Yeah it seemed like he was a little high maintenance with certain things and wasn't flexible when it came to this roll. I'm not sure but I read somewhere he wasn't in the last episode because he didn't like the story line, just unbelievable you would think you want to be there for the ending.

Mike literally used that egg box like it was an accordion. What did he expect?

I agree first of all he should’ve grabbed the first three items put them on the shelf the counter I should say then grab one more item and then hold the eggs carefully I mean, my goodness gracious she folded the damn eggs and it’s gonna fall, but I’ll tell you you can see the kids just loved him season one was as good as it gets I mean just a fantastic show

Another thing to look out for like Easter eggs was the way the kids between season one and two would wear hand me downs - or at least versions of something else that fit the younger one! In this episode the floral blouse Jan is wearing looks like the one Cindy wore in season two!

If Robert Reed had an issue with anything, it should have been that Marcia reached the age of 13 basically without knowing what an electric mixer was. Every kid in the 60s and 70s either used one to help their mom make cakes or watched their mom use one. And then got to lick the beaters.

She knows what it is she just never used one.

Mike, you're half right. The proper way to mix that is with an electric mixer but with the mixer set at the PROPER speed. Always read settings on the speed knob for what you're mixing first.

I agree I grew up in the late 70s 80s. I’ve never seen green paper towels but I’ll tell you you walked in that house in 1969. That was one nice house especially the living room. The only thing it lacked was a really good TV room to all hang out watch movies obviously didn’t have VHS in those days. People don’t realize in 1970 you had a landline and, small TV or maybe a one on four legs that’s best you could do you don’t miss you never had
