He claims they are pals and there was no bad blood but then proceeds to make several digs against the man. Dont trust this guy at all.

It's not about being 'bigger' than the show. It's about integrity. I followed WD for 13 years. After Edd left, I left too. For me, he was the show and I now follow him on his new channel.

It's funny how when Ed tells his version of this, he was incredibly respectful and threw nobody under the bus. And then you hop over to here and get Mike's story...

It went from "nothing we are best mates" to "Edd thought he was bigger than the show" in less than 3 minutes

Edd is a technician of perfection. He wanted to show the whole process of repairing vehicles as opposed to quick cuts here and there. He was the ONLY reason I loved the show! Haven't watched it and I won't watch it now.

Edd stated he left because they were cutting back on the workshop segments, so less work to do (reduced time setting up for the multiple camera takes) and Mike says "he wanted to work less". Look at the new show, there's lots less time spent in the workshop, so something doesn't tally up?

Stopped watching when Ed left because he was wheeler dealers, the only thing Mike brought to the show was ego.

"He thought the show would die when he left." Yep, Edd was spot on.

The reason I liked the Show was to see ED and his enthusiasm and experience when fixing cars. This brought me joy to see him work. He was the star of the show!

I don't know anyone who didn't fast forward through the cringe-fest test drives and haggling Brewer did to get to the actual workshop segments where Ed was actually fixing it and showing us how stuff worked. I don't think he thought he was bigger than the show, I think he knew what the core audience liked.

The show did die when Edd left. Edd is a big talent, Any sorely missed.🤗

Mike is that guy that only talks to fill the silence. Edd always had some useful information we could learn from.

Mike says Edd "thought he was bigger than the show"... It would be interesting to find out the percentage of people who fast forwarded through Mike parts, and the percentage who fast forwarded through Edd parts (I think we know the answer to that question)

When the show went to the USA the show died, not the same show without Edd and the UK.

The end came when they started the US show. It was so fun to watch the early seasons, fixing cars on small budgets. Edd is an engineer and inventor not just a mechanic. Love that Edd is back and on the old continent !

From what I can gather Edd was quite happy to stick with the simple set up of wheeler dealers in the early days. He is a modest down to earth guy who simply wanted to explain to us how to fix up old cars in our own sheds. I lost interest in the show when it became a flashy drama with movie like scripts and camera angles with a new mechanic going around loving himself. I would have been frustrated like Edd with unnecessary change going in the wrong direction.

Ed was 'the Man' on Wheeler Dealers. I much preferd Ed to the Gobby Mike.

I suspect they're no longer friends after this character assassination. Once the yanks got hold of it, the programme became crap.

Edd was the gentleman mechanic while Mike was the greedy salesman.

His cameo on Bad Obsession told me all I ever need to know about the guy, he's the car mechanic's car mechanic and Mike is a second hand car salesman who's milking a few minutes of fame which he wouldn't have without Edd's charm and talent.

It really is a nasty quality of character Brewer displays with all this bad mouthing. The way he blames Edd for costing Brewer and the crew their jobs by leaving. Then there's that video where he's answering the same question but he doesn't know he's being filmed. Disgraceful behaviour.

More Brewer lies. This guy keeps changing his story and it's funny this comes out a day or so before Edd announces his new venture on YT!

Let's be honest....the ENTIRE reason wheeler dealers was ever successful in america was because of Edd.

The American producers wanted to shorten the scenes, from when Ed was putting things right from sourcing, removal, replacing/servicing & fitting the parts. Ed’s personality & magic is the main attraction, you can get any old used car salesman to do the other bits. Ed is King 👑

The camera shows more than people talking. It reveals personality and character. I tend to accept Edd's explanation and to his credit, he explained his departure without slagging off Mike Brewer.

All about greed, trying to chase the big US $$$$$ nothing else! I also think mike thought he was the star and didn't like the fact Edd was more popular than him!

Interesting to see Ed’s video on why he left got 10m views, his hint at a new Chanel got 300k views in 3 days, ED is the one we come for .........

Mike Brewer is an OK guy in my opinion, (used car salesman), but Edd China is the reason I watched the show for years!

Edd China and the detailed coverage of his work was the best part of the programme. Something was lost when this was dropped.

It went from we're best mates to he ended our carrier within 2 minutes lol, love the honesty.

I met Edd a lot back in our hot rod and custom car days. A real nice guy and definately no ego...i wouldn't want to do all the hard work and long hours either wilst the presenter took all the glory. Edds creations speak for themselves with a selection of them in the national motor museum.

The show is not the same without Edd has lost something special.

Edd's new youtube series is great. Like the old show fixing vehicles for the common man with some new toys. Edd is watchable on his own.

I expect Mike could open his own wine business with this amount of sour grapes. WD was Edd. Period. But we're now lucky enough to be able to watch Edd doing what we want on his own channel. Bring on the Range Rover!

When I saw Edds interview on leaving the show I thought he wished Mike and Ant every success that didn't sound like he wanted wheeler dealers to die

My young son (huge fan) & I met Edd in the WD heyday & he was an _absolute_ gent

No way did Ed think he was bigger than the show!! More like he was becoming more prominent / popular. I don't know anyone who enjoyed Mike's overacting segments.

The reality, Mr Brewer, is that very few people have Edd China's educational and professional qualifications, not to mention his wide experience and skills, whereas anyone can be a used car dealer.

I keep watching Edd and Mike repeats..so entertaining..a rare combination that worked so well. Two completely different personalities. A magic formula.

Did he just throw Edd under the bus? Wow!!! I feel sorry for Mike because regardless of what happened he did not need to disrespect Edd. That says a lot about the character of a man.

Forget the differences and setbacks. Mike..Ant...Elvis...are all good hearted. The world needs such people. Dont let the struggles and business problems change your charisma, tome ...and good hearts. Smiles are all so genuine and deals down to earth...Keep it up. I admire your great skills and the show "dream cars" is one of my favourites on Discovery....unlike the other car related shows. Elvis is so humble and smily- friendly engaging, despite his "ace- highest standard" -talent. Mike seems so open minded and friendly and happy minded too...despite the unbelievable risks he takes to get dream cars to the needy.

It saddens how Mike always puts down Edd, with comments like “he thought he was bigger than the show and he could leave and the show would die”, but Edd has always said that the show was changing and was moving away from the mechanical side (which is the only reason I watched) to being about the hunt for a vehicle and the production team wanted to cut corners, which he thought would be unsafe, it shows the true character of Mike, that rather than say “Edd wanted the show to go in a different direction” and leave it at that, he says “Edd thought if he left the show would die”, Mike really should be disgusted in himself for treating as he puts it “my best friend” like that, as for the show, I liked the old format, doing up the cars was the show for me, I have nothing against Ant the new mechanic, but I will never watch Wheeler Dealers again and I wish Edd China the great of luck in everything he does in the future.

To work less? That is 100% different to Ed’s version. Their versions are too different. I totally believe that Ed was frustrated by how much work he was putting in compared to how much of it ended up on screen.

The show was always best filmed in Britain and the best part was seeing Ed do his magic in the workshop

The reason Edd left was because they wanted him to cut corners on his amazing mechanical skills and knowledge and experience, and he refused which is amazing as THAT in it's self is a dangerous situation to be in. That's like a mechanic only putting half your brake's back together on you racing car!!!!!

Edd was not only the best car mechanic I knew, he was also one of the most well opinionated people I've ever seen he saw what the show really wanted to gain and knew why everyone loved him. He could clearly see what the shows intentions were from the new setup. Good on you Edd.

Brewer has only one thing on his mind and thats " Brewer TV" ....I watched Edd on KZfaq yesterday and can't wait for more of his content, he explains and shows the problem and solutions so well, and the best thing no dick head co presenter 👍

Ed was the only reason to watch Wheeler Dealers, you can clearly see that the guy has a true passion for cars (not just a flipper) that nobody else can or will ever replace.

It is unfair to just call Mike Brewer a liar, as it is also unfair to claim that Ant isn’t good at what he does. I’m convinced that the problem lies with the producers and that if they had stuck with the original format more closely that the programme would still be worth watching.

In the latest edition, with Austin Healy 3000, he said, Engine with single overhead cam, they never had one, all push rod overhead VALVE, so much for what he knows ???

I miss Ed but I just realized that I've never missed Brewer.

If you watch the newer shows since Edd has left, you can definitely see less content in the workshop, you notice things that have been done to the car at the end, which wasn't documented, which on the older shows, everything was documented. So I think there is some truth in what Edd said.

This not the whole story, because Edd said on his video that there was less mechanic´s work in the show and that´s why he left. Maybe Edd didn´t want to work off camera so much. And also if you move to California, maybe you want have few days off as well and not been indoors 24/7 I can definitely see that as well. Maybe they can bury the hatchet one day.

It sometimes takes someone of the same trade to appreciate just how good someone is. I’m a full time truck mechanic, and Ed made it look so easy. He’s clearly a very, very talented mechanic. The U.K. is still *just* intelligent enough to appreciate Ed’s role more than Mikes.

Used to watch every episode, haven't watched the last 2 series, taking itself to seriously and it isn't about the cars anymore

Met both of them at the classic motor show in the NEC back in the mid 2000’s. As usual Ed did all the hard work (trying to restore a classic Golf in 3 days) Mike signed autographs and posed for pictures and did nothing else. I was on the stand opposite and it was clear who the fans came to see (it certainly wasn’t Mike).

"Edd is a great guy and I won't hear a bad word spoken about him", though I'll now make a few comments.

Edd was the only reason why I watched the show, great talent. I've never watched wheeler dealers since Edd left and never will.

I am from Zambia. I like watching the show. Edd is a good mechanic and an awesome guy on wheeler dealers.

Translation: You were friends with Ed when it suited you but the moment he decided the show was no longer for him your friendship, in your eyes, became surplus to requirements. Bit sad really, given the history you had and the fact you made him a godfather to your child. True friendship is one that respects each others views, even if they don't side with your own.

Edd has forgotten more than you know about cars Mike. His idea's and improvisation on certain cars where tools were not available was remarkable. He did all the work whilst you and your mouth did very little. I'm surprised he lasted as long as he did,as I'm sure many would've left long before he did.

I quit the show before ed leaving as the US version was getting boring, I noticed there wasn't much repair sections like it used too. And call BS on ed thinking he was bigger the show, Ed has said he missed home his family and the show was cutting down his sections which is why the show so successful

I miss Ed. The American version of the show, doesn't really do it for me. I have recorded virtually all of the UK ones and repeatedly watched them. With the US version, I honestly don't really feel it. I'm not interested in seeing American cars being done up. There's already plenty of them shows. I was so happy to see one of Ants first projects being the escort cosworth and thought the show was getting back to its roots. Then it went squiffy in the US again. Ant is fantastic with fabrication and some of the work he's done is remarkable. He's clearly talented. Just wish he would wear gloves sometimes though but hey, his hands. I'm sure the American market is doing them well. Still sold out though on the soul of the show imho. I'll watch it if there's nothing else. Sadly not something I make time for or record now. Each to their own and best wishes to all.

I think that Mike Brewer is being honest to a point here. I don't think Edd is lazy or wanted specifically to do less work. I think the extended work schedule combined with a desire from the network / producers to have less and less technical in the show, more and more "product placement" visits to companies that make and sell parts, and so on. Remember, season 13 was the first season with Disocvery networks at the helm and not Attaboy Productions. So it left Edd with as much work time to do, less actually to do on the shows, and much more a show about bolting on the parts that Mike sourced. So much in the last couple of years that Edd was there changed, from production company to the flow of the show. Gone was the searching the weekly inkies for a car, the purchases were pre-made, the sales at the end were pre-made, and a lot more time spent on companies willing to either pay for space or make their products available for free / reduced rate to the production. The choices of cars got higher end, they needed a lot less TLC and much more detailing and bolting on of shiny bits. I am sure for Edd it was turning into a waste of time, he is at heart a mechanic and a worker, he wants to be doing stuff. Having to work the same amount if not more on the production but actually to be accomplishing less was probably not where he wanted to go. The change of management, direction, and likely a certain loss of power make it not something Edd needed to be part of anymore. Mike's made himself a good life off it and good on him, but I have more respect for Edd getting out before it got silly.

Edd doesn't make it personal. Mike does. Lack of class.

Mike, you and Edd had a good entertaining and informative show. I miss it.
