I have been married to a black man for 12 years together for 14. Our marriage works because we went into it knowing that we were entering into a covenant with God, periodt! Perfect, nope! But I can honestly say we are best friends first of all and actually like each-other. He has my back and I have his periodt! Your mouth will get boxed if you come for either one of us! 🤣 We are perfect for each-other! I feel couples don’t take the time to get to really know each-other. Before you marry get to know the good, bad and ugly because not much will change with that person so you have to fall in-love with who they are. If you marry for superficial reason more times than not it will be a wrap at the end of the day. Marriage is honored by God and having him as your third strand, (the third person in your marriage) you have a shield, protection, comforter, love, cheerleader and you are covered by the blood of Jesus! Stop 🛑 getting married just for the sake of saying weeze married now… Shalom

Just pointing out that everyone wants love, even if they’re traumatized. When we’re looking at Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, the need of love and belonging comes well before self-actualization. Also, we change as we get older. Marriage is loving that person through their changes. To demand people stay the same is asinine. In fact, you should be skeptical of a person who stays the same. “The man who views the world at 50 the same as he did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his life”. It’s only natural that we change as we learn.. the mark of intelligence.

We're not mad at him, we're just saying, go back and do some more soul searching brotha, because that ain't it and it's coming off as dishonest. Was he molested as a child? Something's not making sense here. He's broken 3 womens' hearts with 3 failed marriages and he sits here talking about not himself not being able to recover from a broken heart in high school? What I have found as I’ve gotten older, I’ve gone through years of therapy I’m really starting to understand life after the age of 50 you actually do need someone. We all need a mate or a friend. If you ever notice when you go to the doctor, they ask you about your social life. Do you live with family members? How close are they to you? Do you have? That’s because these things matter for your health just as Physical. And that is not just enough to be happy and content with your life and now want to kill yourself, but we thrive when we have a maid that we get along with in harmony and live together. It is what makes us thrives as Humans and we don’t want to admit that because everyone wants to wear a different type of life they think is fun and justify that whether it’s polygamy or being free and single, etc. with those long as are the ones that have their life made and wonderful relationships. They’ve been in a long time and they live a long time. You have to find someone that pours into you just as you porn to them, that is important. I just came to this revelation couple weeks ago after trying to understand health screening questions and understanding why do I feel a certain way? A lot of person is because. It’s not weakness to admit that someone makes you excited. You hear their voice to see them. That is a good thing when you find it you want to keep that feeling and you have to work hard at it but you have to work hard at any relationship even ones that you wanna have with your little children or adult children or mothers or aunts or uncles. Find your person and live long.

I can relate to the child hood love experience. And I share that same sentiment when an ex girl who I was truly in love with broke up with me because my love was intense. And she dated my neighbor who was a womanizer and I warned her and she got used. 10 years later she came back and said I was the only one she ever dated who really treated with respect and love. Checked all her boxes but unfortunately I can never love like that again because I was “Scarred and became afraid to be betrayed and abandoned by a woman.” And I walk more with integrity but the women I see don’t mirror that intensity and commitment so I love you but I’m not in love with you. That’s when healing has to be done. Be like Elsa from frozen and “Let it Go!” We all messed up when we were younger. We realize our mistakes and be better individuals. You can be vulnerable with your soulmate and you both know how it feels to be betrayed. So you protect each others heart while respectfully holding on to who you are and becoming who you need to be for the whole.

Question: Why do men in general seem to be afraid of an opiniated woman? An independent woman who can take care of her own finances is not likely to give up her voice to protect "his" manhood. Y'all need to decide. Either you want a financially independent woman, or you gonna choose a woman who you will need to provide for.

Basically, he wants a woman to be consumed with work to earn a lot of money such that she will be able to provide him a lavish lifestyle. AND he will try his best to practice monogamy. These "boss" women best come to the table with wisdom to know that they are only helping their man save more than half his income to spend on things he values more than her, such as automobiles, jewelry, clothes, shoes, and other women.

@teresamarie7460 I think too many have limited views on the dynamics of people. There are narratives pushed and although there is truth to them, there is also another side. There are women who are high earners, work when it’s time and go home and are in family mode when at home. I think Mike was just saying that he wants a woman who won’t be too idle that she is bored all the time, miserable, complaining and missing him (which can and may lead to her cheating). )

@teresamarie7460 Some women will be busy and some won’t, and that’s with or without children. Only single and unhappily married men have/express this viewpoint. A happily married man will be the FIRST to say unapologetically... "I NEED MY WIFE" I want her & I need her. Same for a woman. This guy is a self admitted serial cheater, Cynthia married him anyway. Where they ended up is exactly no surprise. He's minimizing his past as he sits here, but he wrote a book about it, Not about how to overcome. And BS- he was filmed flirting around with other women in a bar while Cynthia was not in town. He is so full of himself. How anyone can take this guy serious is beyond me. There are many amazing, devoted, honest men who have never stepped foot in this guy's ideologies that stand in their convictions, and do so without the history this dude has at his big age. They have my respect. And the theory there is forgiveness for women who cheat is inaccurate. Anyone disloyal has a problem and IS the problem. This dude has no respect for women and used Cynthia like the rest of the women he filtered through. He's still blaming her if you listen carefully. People tell him not to get married Not because of him finding the right person, but because he is Not right with the person he marries. I don't believe a word out of his mouth, he's interested in gaining clout and found the way to do it by preaching. He's preaching accountability while taking very little. Well, this isn't Church, and he needs to find God. There are Plenty of beautiful and amazing men to take advice from their experiences on this earth. Get better heros.

PSTD .. I know a woman who got raped when she was a little girl, shes married now for over 18yrs but still have trauma responses if you touch her without her knowledge . Because of the severity of what happened to her , her body takes her right back to when she was raped A lot of sympathy and empathy is needed ❤

You may have the knowledge and be a great teacher or advisor while not applying it yourself. Some are better at explaining than doing. Also there a number of “successful” marriages aren’t necessarily actually successful. They are just surviving. That being said, I believe this was meant for Mike to mostly share his experiences.

I like listening to him- Mike Hill -talk, he seems very thorough in his explaining things without telling exactly the things that happened. I will look for his books to read. I will say this: I understand the need to be whole, healed & without baggage before they enter a relationship of marriage, but if we got so completely together before another person came to stay in our life, we would really not want or need to be in a permanent relationship as marriage. Our issues don't stop most people from indulging in sexual activities. So make sure we aren't using some of these truth-awareness topics and statement as reasons to not be in a real relationship &/or to not get married. I love the men who don't mind getting and being married, but if you're not staying married and it boils down to- they just wasn't the right person (for whatever reason), then there's still something wrong...but how about- learn to stay in for the long haul.

@Livingmyybestlife I believe a lot of men get scared but won’t admit it. Some don’t even realize it’s fear. But it’s obvious to me. Fear, embarrassment, ego-those feelings can wreak havoc and lead to destructive behavior. BUT, there are also men who don’t respect women as well, the WHY is many time a derivative from the aforementioned.

Mike Hill is the proof for Tysean and Ryan (because most of us already know) that there are a number of men who are attracted to and prefer women who are ambitious.

"Ambitious woman" for BM from the USA means a woman who desires to make a lot of money at the expense of her children and peace such that she can afford to give him a lavish lifestyle.

@teresamarie7460 Not necessarily. Most households require two incomes, and most that I know have just that (unless circumstances forces single parenting). Many work 9 to 5 and are ambitious. And then there are work from home jobs. Also they’re men who work, work and work at the expense of the family as well. We need balance for functional, successful families.

I have a friend who grinds like Mike and after talking to him about what he wants, I recommended he maybe find a women who is also ambitious like that, because that's a trait that's attractive to him too. Her ambition doesn't necessarily mean she's an alpha, or at least even if she is an alpha in her grind but she knows how to turn that off at home....we've seen plenty of women on this show that are ambitious yet walk in their feminine energy. I do believe, depending on your ambitions, that something will fall by the wayside, because we can't simply be all things and do all things, but we have to be careful that we don't just dismiss women who are labeled or who label themselves ambitious. We have to take every woman as she is and not just put her in a box because of a label.

@@teresamarie7460 that is not true. I don’t know if you’re passport bro but your view of an ambitious woman is so far off. There are many ambitious women who are therefore their children first. There are women that don’t go for their children and don’t care about their children. Don’t put them first when they’re not even working. They are in relationships and full on housewives and are therefore their children so you cannot make that a measurement. A person being in there for the children has nothing to do with the level of ambition. If a person is there for their children, will put everything first before their child. They’re gonna do that regardless of what’s in their life. You can have someone as a cancer patient that’s dying on their bed and if they’re there to put their children first, they’re gonna put their children first when they should be putting their health first. a persons life does not equate, nor does it impact anything that they find precious is important to them and that’s not only including children, including their spouse, their family, their parents, their pets. People are who they are, and what they hold. Their will always be important to them while they are who they are because it’s important to them. As a woman who has put her child first and still does and that child is 32 years old and I am as ambitious as they come. Whatever is important to you is important to you and you sacrifice and don’t let that falter.

I think as a community we spend far too much time analyzing and dissecting “narratives” about each other. We need to spend more time analyzing who we are as an individual, and our readiness to give and receive love. This gentleman has been married 3 times, committed adultery, cheated in relationships, and that is because of unresolved issues. If you notice even while being as transparent as he can be, he is still analyzing and dissecting why. He should be at a point where he is firm as to why he carried himself as he did in his relationships, and now speaking about the emotional and mental work he has done to get better for himself. Why do I say this, because he experienced a hurt at 15 that for 30 years he never worked on and has shown up in some form in every relationship he has been in.
