Ive been playing golf for just over a year. I can bushwhack my way into the low 90s and broke 90 twice. All as inconsistent as u can get. sometimes make 14 fairways then 10 games with zero fairways. after 10 lessons I realized that these guys just want u to keep taking lessons. Heard of Malaska from a friend who plays Hockey and shoots an 84 on a bad day. Never looking back again. Unlearn what you have learned so far and start here, you will be happy you did. Im getting so consistent its crazy. Only played my 3 wood this year. Starting to send it 230 plus. This week I'm finally getting a driver. Its time To play. Thanks Mike!

Malaska changed my life with one thing he said about tension on one of his videos. He said relax your jaw and your arm sockets. I went from a so -so long iron guy to becoming a very good one. My entire swing is relax my arm sockets

Being playing this game for 30 years. Never before have I had a better understanding of the golf swing until I saw Mike Malaska's instructional videos. I have been taught by over 8 different local club pros who all managed to make my golf swing worse. This guy has taught me the best and simplest way to strike the golf ball. After thirty years I may have just now have the opportunity to be consistent in golf.

Brandon, thanks so much for the Mike Malaska video. I'm now hooked on his swing philosophy, it has totally change my game. I used to swing just like you, felt like I was fighting my swing and gravity/momentum. Always inconsistent. In one weekend watched all of his videos and I switched to Mike's ideas and have had incredible results. Thanks so much for the content, no need to look for any other instruction, Mike's is it!

Mike is a excellent teacher. It has taken me 5 months to do the L to L. Talk about frustration. I took a huge step back this year in my game. I committed to changing my swing to his way. I do believe it will pay in the long run but it hasn't been easy. He makes it look easy but it's not. I never realized how much I pulled or how much tension I had in my shoulders. I still can't swing full speed. Only half speed. It is starting to come together but very slowly. I have tried to play through it all. I can't hit an 8 iron 150 yards. If I go anymore than half speed I'm pulling like crazy. When I'm hitting the ball properly my biggest issue isn't that it does not work. It is convincing myself that it is really this easy. I always feel I should be doing more.

BEST DRILL EVER FOR ME!!!!!!.......this Split Hand Drill has resolved several issues in my swing. The biggest improvement is the free wheeling feeling, increased effortless power and much more confident control of flight and dispersion pattern. THIS IS A HOME RUN feeling. SPECIAL THANKS to Mike Malaska along with Be Better Golf for the quest toward useable golf swing knowledge. Best Regard, GolfPimp

I have been watching Mikes videos for 3 months, I would also do the drill to bring my hands down and the club heel out, over and over and over again! finally, after hearing this explanation over the top and inside the ball on another of his videos it clicked, the last 2 times out playing I am doing it right with awesome ball contact. the first few drives went way left and it is a simple adjustment to correct that. happy to say I'm hitting fairways again. Thanks Mike!

Another great video Brendon. I think the trick with that baseball drill is to "release" the club head earlier in the downswing much like Tony, Bobby and Monte have all said. Staggering how they're all the same and really turning golf instruction on its head.

I have read many theories. I know all were meant well. I do not want to sound I exaggerate but Mike is far ahead in the way he is presenting how golf swing works. His thoughts are simple, logical and most importantly easily translatable to real golf swing. Position theories which are based on pictures of professionals simply do not work for me and I do not believe they are good for anybody because they do golf complicated and now I know it does need to be! Now I know that golf is quite simple game so thanks Mike for making my golf to be fun again! Petr from Czech Republic

I agree completely! I coach High School golf and just starting watching these videos a little over a year and a half ago. Not only have I improved, I have started to teach my kids his methods. Genius! I am also a video production teacher so I have utilized my video equipment and editing skills and make tapes of my students so they can learn from their swings. I actually added so much power and accuracy with my driver, I put a ball through my golf net then right through my neighbors PVC 2" panel fencing! (I did fix it!) but the ball didnt even change trajectory or path...just through the net, then through the fence!

found these videos with Mike a few weeks ago and practiced the "Malaska Move" for a few days around the yard before taking it to the range and then the course. Game Changer for me! instantly hitting the ball better than I ever have and doing it consistently. Especially with my longer clubs. I know you didn't ultimately go with his method but thank you so much for introducing him to me and improving my game dramatically. now If only I could putt.

I combined this drill with your 4 step drill. Just hit my first driver and it was 276 yds with 108 clubhead speed. I average around 103 and 245 yds. Amazing Edit: Hit my fourth ball and it went right through my golf net and hit my old toyota motorhome and shattered the front window. My god I found the secret. Not even mad about the window

At first one might think this will steepen the downswing but after some success with that drill, as Mike pointed out at the end, it shallows. There's a ton of speed with this move for sure and with driver one has to get going with this move right away. Please thank Mike for this lesson. Excellent! And Brendan, this is a great channel. I have been following Mike Malaska and working his swing since July.. It's easy preform and never gets too off track. The hardest part is letting the club fall from the top to the over the hands position. If you pull with left shoulder or arm you'll miss right or have a mild slice.

I think what is great about Mike’s teaching is… he SHOWS you what to do. He does far more than just TELL you. His “hands on” style, I believe, helps instill a sense of feel into his students. Very difficult to tell a student what to feel. He shows them.

Awesome video Brendon! Been watching your channel and can relate to the swing flaws you experiment in my own swing. I believe Mike is the best instructor for those of us that have been told to fire our hips to the left as hard as we can. I guess our problem is basically a total lack of consistency. Mike's approach on learning how to control the club face makes total sense to me. Besides, I've been trying this method and recently hit 200 balls at the range without hurting my neck, looks like it is the way to go. On the other hand Tony's approach of swinging with the right arm, for us suffering from snaps, don't think is that sound. Keep it up, amazing channel.

I know a lot of people think it's hard to do but it isn't. that hockey drill has worked for me tremendously. my hands/arms/club got too deep behind me and i got stuck all the time. couldn't figure it out. But once I tried keeping my elbows/arms more in front of my chest throughout the swing, the "handle in, clubhead out" hockey move helped fix 99 percent of my ballstriking. good stuff!

Ok, now I finally understand the upper body dominated swing concept. I play that way at times when my legs are tired. It doesn't give you the same power as using the legs, but it certainly is much easier on the body. Regardless, it doesn't work unless you train the lower body to move properly to keep in sync. Otherwise, your contact will be very inconsistent. I guess it just depends on the individual and their health and athleticism. I guess it's something I'll consider when my body deteriorates and I'm playing the senior tees haha jk. I buy into it. I could definitely see this being a good swing for new players, high handicappers or anyone needing more consistency.

I would really love to hear about mikes story behind the back injury and how to adjust the swing to cater. I herniated 2 lumbar discs years ago and golf aggravated my back again a few months ago and I haven't been able to get back. I have been taught a hogan Tyler rotational flat swing and it hurts my back when I play a lot. I think i need to learn a new swing that will protect my back from repeat injury and what Mike said around his back issues and the swing really resonated with me.

This is great - question - this is about 3 years ago - have you incorporated this sequence into your game? And have you seen improvements in your game? I'm a good player and normally shoot between 78-80. I started watching Mike's KZfaq videos and yours and this move works!!. I started using this at first it feels like I'm going over the top because I was and pulling everything to the left. My initial round doing this was 95. I kept watching the Malaska move. And what click was the hockey drill. I went from 95, 88, 77,75,74. This is a game changer. Btw, this even works on the short-game. My most recent 9 hole scores were 37,37. Keep up the great work.

An easier way to swing the Mike Malaska method is you address the ball/set up, then you rotate your wrists and forearms away from the ball, you can even pause; just swing up and unwind collecting the ball finishing up with a straight left leg facing the target watching the ball flight; nothing to think about but set the club with the first move, and swing the club. takes care of swing plane problems.

When ever I make a conscience effort to use my body to generate a POWERFUL swing i.e. fire/rotate my hips, make a big shoulder turn, weight shift, follow through etc. I make bad swings, poor ball striking and ultimately bad scores. Sometimes I hit a good shot and on good days I may hit with power about 50% of the time. Unfortunately, when I address the ball, my first thought is, is this going to be a bad shot, I am not confident, I call it the HOPE shot... However, if I swing the club using my hands (to feel the club head), the arms, feet, legs, body and shoulders do all the things they should be doing, but naturally. I am not fighting myself, everything is in sync and I hit great shots and stay in balance... And the most important tip of this video is grip pressure! If you can't feel the weight of the club head in your hands you are griping it to tight... Great Video!!!
