Training since he was 9 Competing in bodybuilding and other sports as a young teen Now 40 years later and he looks as good as ever if not better Heavy lifting is in good form is the key. People think heavy lifting will injure them. On the contrary if done correctly, you won't only strengthen muscle, but tendons, ligaments and even your bones Over 40 years in shape and still loves it like a beginner. That's lifelong dedication and it has to be respected in any sport or activity Mike do us a favour and just get fat once. Just please look shit once, that would be 👌 More importantly it's great seeing how happy young titan is. He's a really good kid. From one father to another you guys are obviously doing a great job raising the boy. This was a good video 👍

When I think back to my teens, I had so much energy and endless motivation, but I lacked knowledge and the proper understanding on how I should get from A to B. This was back in the 90s and we had no internet or KZfaq videos to watch. I remember reading Flex, Ironman and all the other bodybuilder magazines, and one of the things we didn't understand back then was that it probably was not a good idea to just copy workout programs for IFBB bodybuilding pros that was on huge amount of steroids and as a result of that had so much shorter recovery periods between workouts. As a result we actually over trained for periods. I reached my goals over time, but it was less scientific and more of a grinding approach to it. If a young teen or man is so lucky that he can absorb knowledge from a seasoned athlete/lifter, he can achieve so much more. Now he doesn't just have the motivation, but also the proper knowledge and strategy to get to his goals. As an adult I made quite a few adjustments to my workout regiment and had so much progress than in my first years of training 🙂

@@James_Edward59 No I start out at 135lbs, which is nothing, and I do warm up sets. I believe it is do to lack of flexibility, underdeveloped glutes and weak lower back. I just wondered what Mike does to keep his lower back healthy
@lg20a1
@lg20a1 7 ай бұрын
I think Mike never replies to comments here, if I was you I'll ask him when he does a KZfaq live video or send him a private instagram message, probably he has a lot of messages. I'm not an expert, I'm just a regular gym goer who never got injured, maybe you tweak your lower back because your form at deadlifts and squat is bad or your lower back isn't strong enough(you can strengthen it by doing back extensions or reverse hypers) another reason could be that you don't brace your abs, you brace by taking a deep breath into your belly and squeezing all your abs while you do the rep, it protects and makes your lower back stable to handle heavy weight because all the muscles around your low back get activated while doing it
@yianpap6093
@yianpap6093 6 ай бұрын
@@erichorn3414 That's basically confirming what the other guy told you. I mean if as you are suspecting your glutes are underdeveloped and your lower back weak, then you were indeed trying too heavy too soon. 135lbs is not "nothing" if you have known weak points. First work on those, even for a year or two if need be, very gradually at our age (I'm the same as you and also with a weaker lower back that gets tweaked a little too often!) and then try deadlifts and squats again? Or do squats and deadlifts with "nothing" weights, but in a mindful and controlled way until your weak points adapt to it? Personally I've never been to the gym (I am quite fit though overall) but I've just subscribed for the first time the other day, mainly to do ust that, deadlifts and squats. What will I start with? A weight that feels like nothing and hoping to very gradually go up in years time, no rush and no need for too heavy. I mean you should be able to pick up a (non-obese) person maybe at most, why try for more than that? We're a little too old for ego lifts!
