Hi there 👋 If you're new to my videos my name is Matt. I made a documentary called Minimalism that trended on Netflix a few years back and now I make KZfaq videos. Some people (Jeff) would consider this a huge step backwards and a massive failure but I'm honestly pretty happy with how things turned out. Also Jeff is an asshole. If you like learning about things like minimalism, happiness, productivity, biceps, dodging existential dread, eating food, talking shit about Jeff or overthinking everything, then you're in the right place. Please subscribe so my mother-in-law thinks this is a better career choice than being a doctor.

@mattdavella, I purchased the program and have done the first couple of workouts. Great so far. 👊 However, the program seems to only recommend the weight amounts for the first 4 weeks (Phase 1). Nothing after that. So, I’m not sure what I should lift after the first 4 weeks. Is this something you or Bas could help with? Also, you guys should include a disclaimer that this program calls for a lot of machines (e.g., leg press, leg extension, leg curl, cables, and more). It’d be great if Bas could include alt movement suggestions for us home gym crowd. I’m able to come up with some alt movements based on my own knowledge-but I wish I knew before buying. I’ve messaged through the site’s contact form and dropped IG comments, but no replies. Hope the feedback helps. Looking forward to hopefully hearing back. As always, thanks for the great content, Matt.

As a competitive powerlifter myself, I feel like you did an excellent job of capturing the beauty of powerlifting. It's not about roided out meatheads haphazardly lifting heavy weight but regular people that want to better themselves and I think the progress you made is a testament to that. Well done!

I've been thinking about competing too, so this was like a rundown on what to do, what to expect, and how to go about it. I was literally watching on the edge of my seat watching you lift, and I was just as excited when you went for it and exceeded your goals! Hey Matt, I've been watching your channel for over 3 years already and I absolutely love the variety of content on your channel. Your way of deliverance is really catchy and entertaining! Your videos gave me a lot of conscience over this time and I much much appreciate it! I've been doing powerlifting myself for over 5 years and never competed until last autumn. I can totally feel that spirit of the competition through your video! You've done a great job! I was really encouraged when you WENT ALL IT with your last attempts!!! It's was nuts! You've nailed it for sure! I also got 2nd place (out of 4) and a memory medal! As you've said, I came there not to win but to compete with myself and push forward! Cheers from Russia! There's a powerlifter named Matt Vena whose content pops up on my feed all the time, but I'm not a powerlifter, and I never watch it. I've never heard of Matt D'Avella, but it sounded similar enough that I mixed the names up, especially since powerlifting was in the title. The vibe at my new gym is great, and I'm really excited to see what I can do at the meet. Looking at last year's scores, I wouldn't be surprised if I finish last in my class, but It's been really invigorating honing in my form and feeling like I'm getting "noob gains" again. Thanks for the inspiration!

Coach Bas is an awesome trainer and awesome guy as well! Had the chance to meet him at the Arnold in Columbus. Definitely one of the best trainers you could ask for as a beginner or as an experienced gym veteran.

This is such an awesome video Matt! Congratulations on your PBs, absolute monster effort. As someone who's done powerlifting in the past & met Bas in person a few times I definitely understand that 'intimidation' haha but he's 100% a top bloke, couldn't have picked a better man for the job. Should do a Marathon next!

Matt's smile towards the end of the video was was true and genuine. Often when you have a camera on you we tend to artificially smile but that end one was 👌🏻
