Mike is such a musical drummer that you can easily tell what part of the music you are even when there is nothing but drums. I bet that if you did that to 90% of the drummers, even extremely celebrated talented drummers, you couldn't tell which part of the song you are listening to. I have seen so many people criticize Mike for not being as overly complex as other drummers, but Mike has always put the music first and it shows.

I've heard this song a 1000 times, minimum. I literally could hear the music in my head. I get what you're saying, Mike has deep feel.

You can tell which part of the music it is because you can REMEMBER the song as a whole.

@@Pirustae Not really, the song is full of meter changes and has so many different sections to it. I don't think I could remember the song as a whole even if my life depended on it. I couldn't even sing it on karaoke, due to how many times it changes. And I am not familiar with he song to do so confidently... Also, do you think this is the first song I have heard with isolated drums? I love hearing them, not only because I love drumming, but because they often sound like a different song altogether. Often, I get a completely different vibe when hearing just the drums. But not on this one, this is the first song I have heard with isolated drums, where I was never lost the entire song. And even got the same vibe all throughout. I have heard isolated drums, on bands and songs I have listened way more times than this one...

I still recall, what, 30 years ago? This song was my first exposure, I remember my jaw being on the floor. As soon as I could figure out who it was, I went and bought I&W, and discovered the best music I'd ever experienced.
