I used to go into Quetico park with Mike, his brother and father snowshoe ice fishing when he was young. We would fish lake trout and fill Mike father’s pack with trout and he would pack out that heavy thing every time, sweating like hell. And yes Mike was a little rascal back then lol.

I've watched all your podcasts, some more than once. I'm still trying to figure out if you are an exceptionally well prepared master interviewer or just a hell of a good conversationalist. Either way, they are always enjoyable. The mutual respect you and your guest share is remarkable, even though he looks like a bullfrog you pulled out of a bog. That respect has got to be a Canadian thing. Bottle it. Ship some down to the States. By the way, how can we get a Windbound brew without a long plane ride, a rental car, a rental canoe, and knocking on your door? LOL

Hi Jim. Great interview. I have a suggestion for you. Way back in the seventies I went to White Otter lake northwest of Atikokan. At the north arm of the west leg of the lake is a castle built by a trapper in the early 1900’s for his fiancée in Thunder Bay. While he built the castle she ran off. When he went to Thunder Bay and found out he went back and hanged himself in the castle. As far as I know it’s still there. The lake I a great fishing lake with lake trout and others.

My cousin found a dead body of a fellow that jumped off the river bridge at Rocky Mountain House Alberta. He found the body near boogy Hall about 100km down river of Rocky Mountain house. Also, on the North Saskatchewan River. Jim, I would really like to see a hiker from Alberta, Marty up North on your pod cast. Marty is probably one of the most experienced hikers of the Alberta Rockies.

i know personally have talk to quite a few rude canadians with them calling me and other American's self centered and dumb for not wanting to spend more money then we have to and do tourist things in canada but im going to see alaska truth is it cost in the around 2 times the cost in gas to go less miles and im not made of money . if it was cheaper in gas American's would have more money to pump into canada economy not just the gas tank OK rant over PS love the podcast
