My cousin gifted me a bunch of Spawn toys in 1996 when I was in ICU as a nine year old from a car accident. I remember how cool they looked in their unopened packages, better than the teddy bears and Beanie Babies that were decorated in my hospital room. My religious Aunt threw all the Spawn toys away when I asked her where they were.
@Hylandboy12 жыл бұрын
I’m sorry to hear about your accident and your toys. I hope you bounced back okay. McFarlane Toys is just starting to put out new and improved Spawn figures so now might be a good time to get back into them (just don’t tell your aunt).

I rather have a figure that has great details and little articulations then a highly articulated figure that looks like crap. This is why I loved those old spawn figures they just looked amazing and didn't look like a child's toy. They were great to display and like most people would say they look like beautiful statues.
@Hylandboy13 жыл бұрын
Hey Wilfredo. I hear what you’re saying but I think I need my figures somewhere in between. Too many joints make for wonky figures but I feel any action figure should at least be able to stand in a neutral pose. Spawns stuck in sitting or crouching positions just don’t do it for me. Might as well be an actual statue at that point.

I recently got back into Spawn, both comics and figures. I stopped at issue 200 and have every figure released under the Spawn line, movie maniacs, McFarlanes Dragons, Tortured Souls, Twisted Land of Oz, 6 Faces of Madness. It's great to see the Spawn line coming back but I much preferred the artistic style of Series 17 through the classic comic covers figures where they were essentially highly detailed statues. I met Todd in 1997 at the Canadian National Exhibition and was given a garbage bag full of weird one-off Spawn stuff including a glow in the dark Spawn logo fabric Frisbee and a proof of concept drawing of Overkill done by Todd, Stan Lee, Rob Liefield and Jim Lee. I bought all the kickstarter figures and have gotten the two new waves of Spawn figures and the Spawn specific Mortal Kombat figs (12" commando, Spawn, Lord Covenant, Mustard Spawn, Malefik Spawn etc.) The new figures of Mandarin Spawn don't come close to touching the original from Dark Ages Spawn (both the standard and the turquoise variant). I'm not sure why he is over saturating the market place with Mandarin Spawn (I get gunslinger since there's the new comic). The new Raven Spawn figure looks killer. I'm waiting for the next Kickstarter and Medieval Spawn ;)

Yeah, none of the action force stuff ships for ages. And, based on my past experience with Kickstarters, I would expect delays. But your patience will likely be rewarded with rad toys. Great video . I collected EVERY dc multiverse figure all the way to year 3 but when things started to go downhill and none of the sculptors ever got any credit I could'nt support the line anymore . I wanted to like the Spawn line as well but I really dont like any of the new stories unless its from gunslinger or The Scorched thanks to its anthology format . I def will get any of the cover classics that he is redoing now . Did you know that the Manga and cyber spawns were based off of specific Gundams . The 1st 1 that you put in the video is a take on Sazabi my FAV gundam behind Crossbones .

I agree that the plastic is different but I’m not sure that it’s cheaper. It’s softer. And I felt the old figure sometimes felt kind of brittle so I’m not opposed to the softer plastic. My question to you is..do I open??? I really want to, as posing that red mecha Spawn would be awesome..but would this unopened box be considered vintage and would opening it ruin its value?
