Ed Bickert. Deeply great player played a Telecaster exclusively since finding it to be suitable for all types of session work etc. Apparently he used Gibson humbucker up at the neck. But his playing was so tasty and polished. His approach was always swinging and interesting so that he really didn't sound like anyone else.

I couldn't find the right pathway to jazz/fusion. Mike Sterns work with Miles Davis has shown me the way.

I thought this was familiar :-) Then I saw that the full episode was posted a while back. That story about leaving the party is hilarious! Mike has the best sense of humor.

Ed Bickert is the Canadian tely jazz man. First that I know of. And take a look at his axe, it was one beat up looking guitar!

Jimmy played country music born in 1925…… its sounds swingy but its not “jazz” Ed Bickert played “jazz” he was a badass born in 1932! You’ll get way more eye brow raises from jazz cats if you name drop Bickert….. Ted Greene too! Amazing!
