I’m from India. In almost all of tiger attack stories, the victims never see the Tiger coming . In the Crop-Grassland-woods-Bushes ecosystem of india, specially around dusk , the Tigers orange hue and stripes just blends in perfectly that they almost become invisible. and it’s across a whole bunch of differing habitats , like the SunderBans, Panna, Ranthambore , etc , even at the foothills of the Himalayas . That coloration and striation just gives them amazing diversity of camouflage across a vast number of terrains . Look at the Siberian tiger for example, that coloration can even help it blend even in the snowy Taiga forests of Siberia. Natures perfect killing Design, the Tiger

I think I understand why Mike was drawn to tigers. The way Mike talks about how his tigers’ ferocity, how they’re are only attached to one person and how when the tigers hurt him they didn’t mean it reminds his of his relationship with Cus D’Amato. In interviews he’s quoted saying “Nobody really knows Mike Tyson. Nobody is really friendly with Mike Tyson except Cus D’Amato. Cus was more than boxing - he was everything.” and “if he told me to kill you, I’d kill you”. Mike loves his tigers because he understands the tiger’s mentality. The closest he could get to raising a young Mike Tyson was to raise tigers.

I went to the San Diego zoo many years ago. The only part I remember is this; It was about 10 minutes before closing. The place was emptying out. I went into the tiger enclosure for a last look (it was busy earlier and the tigers weren't showing themselves). I was the only one there. I stood close to the glass and a tiger came into view. It turned to face me and crouched into attack posture. I was mesmerized, and instantly froze. In the dim light the glass separating us was imperceivable. It launched at me, rushing towards the glass until we were nose to nose. Words fail to describe the hypnotic beauty of it's eyes, it's features. It's face was as wide as a drink tray, Eyes the size of cue balls, fangs thick as my fingers. The thrill of adrenalin, hair raising terror and fascination I experienced in that moment was primordial, into the very marrow of my bones, even though it was behind bullet proof glass... It held me paralyzed for a few moments, offering a rare perspective of it's magnificent grandeur before silently, slowly backing away, turning, and leaving me there stunned and in awe. I'll never forget it. They are truly AWESOME.

Their vertical stripes, which range from brown to black, are an example of what biologists call disruptive coloration. After watching big cats on TV for decades, I thought I grasped their size. Then I went to the cat zoo in Canada and stood about 8 feet away from a lion. Before I stopped I could FEEL it's breathing resonating in my chest. It was a deep rumble. I felt both awe and fear at the same time. Then I looked down at his paw and was shocked at how HUGE it was. Bigger than my head. Something about seeing the paw made me grasp their size far better than decades of watching them on TV. I have a house cat as many of us do. Anyone who loves and plays with their house cat knows that they can sometimes get overexcited and get rough. A house cat can so some damage - nothing major, but you will bleed. Now imagine something 50x bigger. Every time I play with my cat, I think about those big cats at that zoo. How BEAUTIFUL they in person and how awesome they are in the literal meaning of the word, not the slang. Simply an awesome creature.

Tyson is an amazing human with an amazing story. I think a lot of us that are older grew up along with Mike able to see what a person can go through in one’s life. Be that as it may be…. I still would not like to be around if someone truly pissed him off…. Like royally, emotionally and on a primal level. He may be older but what he still has in muscle and mind memory of combat over and over, I wouldn’t want to see that snap and convert over and potentially be on the other side. I’m happy he exudes control and has what seems to be at a balance.

To answer Joes question why Tiger stripes are the way they are is because of how their prey perceives them as their vision is different than ours. The color patterns in their eyes differ so much from us that a Tiger stalking it in tall grass literally blends the tiger in with shrubbery, etc due to the preys vision patterns and the way colors are perceived. The color of the stripes blends in with higher grass and plants.
@kkramp19842 жыл бұрын
Joe is actually wrong about his "staring into a domesticated dog's eyes" theory. This statement is true for wild animals. However, domesticated dogs have developed the ability to read human facial expressions and are actually very good about communication with their eyes and facial expressions. If your dog is scared to look you in the eyes its because he is practicing avoidance for some reason. Meaning, you have created some kind of situation where the dog thinks he is supposed to be avoiding you. Consequently, if you avoid staring back at a dog, then they might think you are fearful of them and they could be emboldened or empowered. This a common myth that's been debunked decades ago. It's not so much the eye contact but the energy behind it gaze. Ask yourself what kind of energy you're putting out with your gaze. If you have a calm peaceful soul you can look any dog in the eyes.

It was about 5:30 or so in the morning and we got a call that some drunk was harrassing him in the main valet area out front of the casino while trying to leave with his driver. All of us security that rushed out were waved by Tyson's bodyguard/driver to stay back, that Mike was handling it. The next thing we knew Mike hugged the guy and said something in his ear, then they drove away.
