I just Googled John Alderson to see what he ended up doing. Saw a Facebook post and great picture by Mike Tyson. "Wonderful moment for me the other evening. John Alderson, one of my first opponents from 1985, came up to me to say hi." He looked great and super excited to see Mike. $hit like that is what life's all about 💪🏼💪🏾❤

I was an 80's kid that grew up playing Mike Tyson's Punch Out and thinking he was totally invincible. I still remember the exact spot I was standing in as an 8 year old kid when I found out Buster Douglas had upset him. I was absolutely devastated and the heir of invincibility had been instantly shattered. That being said, I STILL consider Mike Tyson the most intimidating human being I have ever seen in my life and I view him almost like I view a great white shark that I see on tv. I can watch Shark Week or Jaws and feel like I'm gonna get attacked by a shark... on my couch! LOL! I have that same level of fear towards Tyson as he is somebody I would absolutely never wanna cross in my life!

Yet a mans prime is 30-37 mma? All the top mma fighters in the heavyweight division are well over 30. They didn't eat well back than i guess?

There is a reason most mma fighters peak at 30-36. How could any man be past his prime at 28? The guy looks 40+. People either aged fast back than or didn't train properly.
@christophercybulski1062
@christophercybulski1062 Жыл бұрын
33? That's a mans prime usually. The dude was slow was fuck and looked terrible. Imagine a prime cain (33) against Mike He would make him his bitch. If you age fast it's due to diet or lifestyle. Mike was fighting bums. The current heavyweights in mma are usually around 32-37. Kid Tyson would be mauled.

You can see Alderson was well coached with the fundamentals, but rather clumsily coordinated with slow excitation. Experience taught him a measure of graceful finesse. I honestly think Mike was just being very professional because Alderson doesn’t exactly exude the character that pisses somebody off. Alderson genuinely looks like a nice guy to be quite honest. It wasn’t that caliber aggression of a fight. You just have those. The people received the good entertainment they came to see.

Was just a 10 yrs old kid back then and didn't really know anything about fighting or Cus D'Amato. But I shared Mike Tyson-fights with my dad and we wondered over how hard he must punch and thought it impressive how fast he won his fights. Now knowing a little more, it is a real treat to see Mike first fight and then give an analysis where he practically explain Cus's defensive teachings. - On making sure that if hit by the opponent, the punches are thrown at an angle where they don't any power behind them. 'They slide off me'. Combined with a punch with the intent to punch through his opponent (inspired by among many others by Bruce Lee)... 🤓

Mines closed in West Virginia, so Alderson lost his job. Then he returned to boxing... Poor guy. Mike was miles ahead of him in terms of skill and strength and he fought a good, clean fight.

Why is no one talking about how Tyson was measured 6'0???

I was literally just about to comment on this. If the other guy is 6'4, that is at least a 6 inch height difference.

@Bruce Wayne Tyson made fast guys look slow , a year later Tyson was preparing for his 1st title fight.Tyson made guys miss he was way more advanced than a guy with 7 fights .Tyson right then ,the day he fought Alderson ,would have given Holmes all he could handle ,Larry looked like he did not know how to throw his punches when he fought. ,Tyson. Alderson was not bad for a 7 fight guy ,he was undefeated.

@Bruce Wayne Ali was not Ali when he was 20 ,and Tyson would have destroyed him (Clay )when he was 20.Clay was not even close to a title shot when he was 20.

Only his 5th pro fight and it was a relatively light workout really. With that iron chin he could take a good punch unfazed, and the next second deliver a devastating knockout in return. Tyson was awesome in the ring.
