In 1952 as a four year old, dad bought me a tiny pair of black “engineer” boots. I loved them. And that began a 71 year long (and counting) love affair between me and my black boots. Due to growing feet and inevitable wear I have probably gone through 20 pairs. I do not wear them on cruise ships or at the beach but those are the only exceptions. My will includes instructions that I am to be buried with my boots on.
