I lost one of my friends to a hit and run back in 2022. One of the darkest days in my life. This song puts me at peace.

This reminds me of the earlier 2000's when I was still in college. Met my first girlfriend to this song, we were both 20 at the time. Tragedy struck though, when we were both about aged 22 my fiance was not feeling very well, she brushed it, she brushed it off though, not worrying about like she was like that, just bubbly and full of life, but all that changed she became so ill that in 2005 I took her to the hospital, she was diagnosed with breast and stomach cancer, she passed away in hospital at the age of 22 with me by her side Sunday 12th February 2006. On the day she died, I was sitting by her bedside, her last words to me in a faint whispering voice with all the tubes through her as she struggled to raise herself to speak to me were before she died with her last dying breath as I was clutching her hand were "I love you", then she flopped back onto her bed and died. I was in tears and this song was played at her funeral.

I first heard this song at a friends house about 10 years ago, and stupid as it sounds i started crying because her voice was so beautiful x

My Uncle was diagnosed with terminal cancer last year, and last week was his funeral. He planned the whole thing and chose this song to be played in the middle of the service; I have absolutely fallen in love with it. He was a wonderful man, and he really did have fantastic taste in music...

So love this song, her voice, gentle West Yorkshire accent, the subtle way she plays, and the nod to brass band. the poetry of those lyrics. I'll have this at my funeral

Why is this song so sad? Because sooner or later each of us must leave here, and it won't always be freely or gently. This beautiful song will probably still be loved after everyone here now is gone, and the stars will be out there long after that. Thank you Kate. You are very wise.

This is such a beautiful song. I don't know how she thinks of such simple but moving poetic ideas. That is what makes her so great. A bit sad of course.
