Hello, Mike. I ordered the latest version of this machine today. With all of the options available, I liked this machine particularly for three reasons. Like you, I liked that the water separator was a part of the unit, but the gauges and adjustments for the pressures were on the front. I also liked that the gauge had the standard psi readings. But, the really big difference in this unit compared to the other highly rated pilot arc units was that the primary plug was the 220v plug. Even the Yeswelder units had a 110v primary plug and you had to use an adapter to connect to 220 volts. I don’t like that at all. In fact, I almost ordered another highly rated unit, but didn’t pull the trigger on it because this was such a big deal to me. It may not really mean that much, but I’m the type of guy that wants to use the right input voltages for every piece of equipment that I have. I also have an older MIG welder that can do both voltages, but it too, has the 220 volt primary plug. So, while I have a very heavy duty 220 volt extension cord (with 6 gauge wiring), I really try to connect these units directly to my 220 volt wall socket. I personally believe that in doing so, the life expectancy of the unit is prolonged and the day to day functionality remains at its peak. I’m very glad that you demonstrated just how easily this particular machine will cut up to 1/2 steel especially since there are always reviews that claim that it won’t cut the thicker metals very well. I think you demonstrated quite practically that it not only cut it, but cut it very cleanly, too. Thanks again for the video and I look forward to many productive days with my new plasma cutter. I went with a 50 amp prime weld pilot arc machine. From what I hear their customer support is top notch if something does break. I am interested to see how both our machines hold up over time.

I just want to thank you Mr. Festiva. I have purchased the plasma cutter that is in this video. I got it today and it works perfectly. I will mainly use it on 220 volt, but it is nice to have the 110 volt option. I also purchased an additional inline air purifier. I didn't have one on my air compressor. Now the one I purchased and the one built into the plasma cutter should give me additional protection of water in my air line. I also, purchased the same additional consumables that you recommended. I will have lots of fun with this in my workshop. I am tired of cutting large pieces of steel with a cutting wheel. Now I can use the plasma cutter for those cuts and save the cutting wheels for the smaller stuff!! Now to get a metal cutting bandsaw, then I will finished purchasing equipment for my small shop! Thank you mike, I have Tig and arc welder in my home workshop along with a lathe/mill, band saw, belt sander, 2 x bench grinders and an air compressor along with about every other hand tool you can think of. My next purchase will be a plasma cutter of which I knew nothing about until I came across your channel. I consume way too many 41/2" cutter disk so looking forward to my plasma cutter. I live in the UK so 220v is the norm and I have heavy cable and 32 amp breakers going out there and a spare so all ready to go out there. I just recently bought this brand new from a pawn shop I got to cut the box open and was quite surprised at the price they had on this unit. I actually got mine for only $99 when I saw it I thought oh this can't be right and I so I was really happy to stumble across this video after watching one of your reviews on different flex core wires and non-flex core wires for wire feeds and I see this one. This was a great review I'm very thankful I purchased it and ran across your channel at the same time I will be subscribing and following this video to see your updates as they come. I'm hoping I can cut quarter panels off of cars etc and I think this is going to work out great for me. Thanks for being a test pilot. I was looking to upgrade from a non-pilot arc cut50 and was debating between a yeswelder cut55 and 65 because I don't trust Amazon reviews and have liked yeswelder stuff. This review gave me enough confidence to take a chance on saving the $120 and ordering this one.

It appears that this BTC500DP is sold out currently and the only models available are non pilot arc cutters, so hold off on buying one until the pilot arc becomes available again. So far my plasma cutter is still cutting great 👍 I have cut about 260 inches and it’s still cutting great!

Thanks for the review. Found you while researching plasma cutters. Been looking for over a year. I just tinker in my shop being retired. You have been a great help to an old timer with little knowledge.

I'd like to give a real world update on this plasma cutter. Based on your review I purchased one for myself and love it. I have a portaband in a table-top mount, an angle grinder, a metal cutting sliding miter saw and a cordless Makita metal cutting circular saw. A plasma cutter just gives you yet another way to cut items. Then we bought one for at work. I kid you not we have put about 300-400 hours of actual cutting time on this (weeks on end, 5 days a week) in the last year. It will cut 1/2" thick material at 45 amps. And running at up to 45 amps we have never had it heat up to the point where it would hit it's duty cycle and shut down. It finally died on us and I think it is just the HF start points need to be cleaned and gapped. But for work it is so cheap we just went ahead and bought another. These are great units and my guys love them.

I use my 8750 predator generator for my 220 outlet if I need to use a welder. It also doubles as power for home. It works out pretty good. Plus it keeps generator ready when needed.

Cuts look great for such an inexpensive machine. If it does crap out after the 30 day Amazon return window my only concern with these off brand machines is getting it repaired. My Hypertherm plasma stopped working after 2 yrs and 10 months and when I brought it in for repair I was happy to find it was still under full warranty. Good advice to try and beat it to death during those first 30 days.

I'm wanting to torch up a few propane tanks into decorative yard art for the wife......you make it look fairly easy , hope I can get the hang of it, thank you for this video... Mike, the nice thing about a hand held plasma cutter is one can make cutting guides for repeat cuts. These, in your case, could be metal, or, with the tip protector, wood guides could probably work.

I ended up with a Lotos LTP5000D, after going through 2 of the "Cut 50" style machines with pilot arc that litter Amazon. First machine was DOA right out of the box, second one was a different "brand" that wouldn't cut 1/8" angle iron on max settings. I'll spend the extra on the Lotos consumables, this machine just works every time I turn it on. It lacks some of the features you listed on your criteria list, but my criteria was simply it needs to work correctly every time and it does.

You did an excellent job on this plasma cutter. I just purchased this machine a couple of weeks ago .have not used it yet. It came in while I was on vacation. Plan on running a 220 to my shed. Have 2 30amp 220 not using in my panel. Thanks so much since I'm a beginner on this and getting back into welding witch I did do in high-school. Retired now going full bore on home projects. Mike thanks for the video. This device would be perfect for me. I am starting out both welding and plasma cutting. The only downside to this unit is that the manufacturer stated no more non touch pilot arc which I desire. I like and the features of this one. I don't mind paying more for that feature and your video is so new I had hoped this manufacturer would still have this feature. He stated they are out of that model even though the model number is the same. Clearly he ran out after your video as many went to buy the exact model. I do see cut 50's everyplace but they don't have the the front air pressure control. Again thanks and nice to find a machine like this for a small rancher like me.

Great common sense video. I had a Torchmate CNC Plasma and a Hypertherm 85 for my high school shop class. It was recommended to me by an "expert". The consumables were ridiculous in cost. I wish would have save lots of $ and gone with the Titanium for the CNC and a smaller Plasma cutter like the one you did this video for. Cutting 3/16, 1/8" and smaller was what I did 99% of the time. The Hypertherm was like dusting crops with an F22. Great video and good advice. I wish I had seen this years ago.🙂

I was just literally looking on amazon for a cheap plasma that has the same features you were wanting too. I also had trouble sorting thru all the different models. Thought about my favorite channel here reviewing one and here it is. Looks like I'll be pulling the trigger and buying this one. Thanks for sharing Mike. Thanks also for getting me into fabrication.

As per my earlier comment, I did get the BTC500D ordered. The nonpilot arc. It showed up in 3 days and I paid 189 for the machine, 29 for a big pack of consumables, and $49 for a 4 year warranty. I put a new air filter dryer at my comp and dryer/regulator set to 75# on the cart the plasma is stored. So far I have cut around 12 linear foot of 3/16 hot roll plate as I'm boxing the frame on a ratrod build. Still on the first set of consumables and this thing cuts nice. The dross comes off easy and the cut is pretty clean. Me learning the right speed to pull it long distances has been the biggest issue. For 3/16 plate I'm running 24 amps and 50# of air. The book calls for 20 amps and 40 to 50 #. I thought it would be hard on my comp but in cutting 4 foot in one shot the 60 gal. comp only kicks on after about 42 inches. All in all I'm super impressed so far. Keep recommending super duper affordable tools like this one!

Would you consider doing a video on air compressors as they relate to plasma cutters? What size works for hobby jobs, how to keep the air dry, those sorts of things? I bought one of those Cut 40 machines a few years back. It was pretty inexpensive and actually works pretty good but it has a couple drawbacks. It's basically a scratch start meaning the nozzle has to touch to start (which does a job on the consumables) and finding replacment consumables and other things like the standoff you have on torch difficult or impossible to find.

I was about to get the titanium plasma cutter to go with my titanium welder, but I'll rethink my decision. I'll look into this one, thank you!

My compressor drain developed a very tiny leak and that works great for letting moisture drain and the pan is always dry from evaporation. It sounds like a modem with its tiny spits of water. I had to turn off all the shop noise to find the leak. Works great

Hey Mike. I’m not sure if you go back and look at comments for older videos, but I wanted to post here. I put this plasma cutter on my Amazon list and ordered it when they finally got them back in stock. It was delivered in early April, and I’ve used it a few times now. I had an older Thermal Dynamics Cutmaster 50 that broke. Replacement parts for it would have been about the same as I paid for this little unit. The bestarc is smaller and much lighter than my Cutmaster, but seems every bit as powerful. Thanks for the review and suggestion. As I look at Amazon now (May 22, 2022), the unit is unavailable again. For people that can wait for them to be back in stock again, this is a great machine. But don’t hesitate to pull the trigger if you see one in stock or you may miss it again.

So, we've just moved into a new home. After 5 days of non-stop hard work, I finally sat down with a large glass of Honey Jack. I made the mistake of watching this. Now I've got a plasma torch on the way. I was a little bit too far into the Honey Jack to remember to use your affiliate link (sorry), but I'll try to make up for it on my next purchases. Anyway, I'm excited...wanted some lightning scissors for a long time, but never sat down to learn exactly what was needed. Not new to using one just got tired of needing one and only have other means to cut steel with. Thanks again. I have the unit and it looks great. I have been working with plasmas for 25 years and I have realized some time ago the number on the plasma is the thickness of the metal it is recommended for though it will cut thicker than rated it is not ideal and base the number according to what you intend. 38 is three eigths 50 half inch 75 three quarter and so on. Least amount of run time for portable cutters the longer they will go without repair. Blow them out with air to keep fans clean. Dark glasses and if eyes start feeling gritty and dry I recommend visine 7 in 1 immediately and just before bed. I promise you don't want burnt eyes.

I wonder if he has a clue as to how many parts Miller buys from China . Miller states they buy from all over the world. Miller can't legally say made in the USA for the Spectrum 375 . The Miller website: Our plasma cutters are designed and assembled in Appleton, Wisconsin. In the manufacturing process we use parts that are sourced from the USA as well as other countries across the globe. A large percentage of the parts we use are sourced in the USA but due to the global sourcing we use Assembled in the USA on the machine.

I really appreciate your videos and your talent in explaining clearly the points you make about each machine. HF has a small plasma cutter (Chicago Electric) for just under 400 dollars. Have you compared that one to the Bestarc? You did mention that customer service with Bestarc was wanting, which is so very important for newbies like myself. With HF, not to be critical, at least one has a window of time to return the item or replace a defective one, all in a day if the job is time critical. We are fortunate to have three HF stores within 20 minutes of my location.

I can’t believe how good that works for the money it’s incredibly good value, even as a hobbies or someone who mucks around doing stuff in the shed it well affordable. I’d be cutting stuff for the sake of it it looks a cool machine 👌 nice review dude thanks 👍

I dedicated my Everlast to my CNC table so I a needed a new machine for making field cuts. It’s a great little unit and the consumables are inexpensive. It also ticks away neatly on a shelf. I also bought it before I saw this presentation.
