You do an awesome job with lighting, videography, presentation, graphics, etc. All at levels I can only aspire to at this point. You are really hitting all the marks the KZfaq View Gurus preach. Resonators don't restrict the airflow, they have peripheral baffles that absorb sound but the pressure drops as when the air flow reaches the resinator chamber there are holes in the through pipe that allows the pressured air flow to penetrate thus reducing velocity, back end pressure and sound. If you look through you will see there are no in line baffles, its straight through pipes. Its like blowing through a straw versus a straw with holes along it. That's why in my opinion its a great mod as you are not increasing pollution just sound and with the 2018 on active exhaust you can still switch to quite mode anyway. Great mod and great video. :)
@MikeFyxdt
@MikeFyxdt 3 жыл бұрын
Allan, yes, exactly what you described. When you look through the resonator, you can see straight through. I do think the baffles create a little bit of back pressure, and removing the resonator may make the car breathe more freely. As much as the manufacturers want you to think it is a power modification, I think it is more of a sound mod, but that equates to better enjoyment!

Good video! I just did this on my 22 GT, same steeda h pipe. I intitally installed this with the provided exhaust clamps but boy are they a PAIN to get tight and torqued down. I HIGHLY recommend you folks to buy the Vibrant TC 1171 exhaust clamps for this install. You can add them either on steeda or buy them on amazon. I took the steeda ones off and used the Vibrant ones and its MUCH more sturdier and easier to install. Overall a not too bad install(I removed the whole catback in fear of accidently puncturing the gas tank with a saw zall). Very easy to do!

@danno1 L - congrats on your eminent H-pipe upgrade! I am curious, what do you gain by replacing all the way back to the mufflers? Bit of anecdotal evidence: I passed CO emissions (CARB) last week with an otherwise stock exhaust on a 2016 gt. Just for those that are in CO/CA/CARB states and curious if it will pass, you should be good! (Not a guarantee, do research for local laws). Love my H pipe.

@MikeFyxdt 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Marc! Yes, I think about the neighbors when I do a cold start, and I often put it in quiet for them. The only people that probably hear the Mustang’s wrath are the people directly next-door to us. I’m glad they don’t have many windows facing my garage. I had to look up Helmholtz resonators… Interesting! I never knew they could take such a scientific approach to canceling specific frequencies in a muffler/resonator. Someday I would love to try bending pipes and welding. Right now I think my skills are average when it comes to tightening bolts on pre-designed parts! Is it time to put the sports cars out on the road yet?
@marcperras9072
@marcperras9072 3 жыл бұрын
@@MikeFyxdt I put them out yesterday (GSR) and today (S2000). Both cars need new tires. The S2000 has one of those drone cancelling pipes. I think it came stock that way. The Integra drones a lot. I think it is because 4 inches of piping had to be added to make the Yonaka catback exhaust fit on my model year. I am having a hard time finding anyone that is willing to install that drone cancelling pipe as it requires a bit of math to get it just right.

@@marcperras9072 i’m glad to hear your Honda‘s are out in the sunshine! Is it OK to call your Integra a Honda? I’ll bet it would be very expensive to have someone do a custom exhaust, and I don’t know how much better that would be than getting one aftermarket that’s already designed. But maybe having a unique one-off design will make it sound like something totally new and fresh, and will make you happy! I am frugal when it comes to many decisions, but when I splurge, I like to splurge big. This might be an item you enjoy splurging on…
@marcperras9072
@marcperras9072 3 жыл бұрын
@@MikeFyxdt That's fine with me. The motor in the Integra has Honda Motors written on it... The car is sold as a Honda almost everywhere outside of North America. I spent good money for that exhaust system, as well as, for mods and installation, so I am keeping it. Besides, most other exhausts don't fit the car as the 94 GSR has a different down pipe than other trims and other model years. A one off too rare for exhaust companies to produce a proper replacement.
@MikeFyxdt
@MikeFyxdt 3 жыл бұрын
@@marcperras9072 that makes good sense, if a model is relatively rare then the mass manufacturers aren’t going to go after that market. My Integra had Honda on the engine, too! I wonder how many parts on modern Acuras still say Honda. I would love for someone to loan me an NSX for a week so I can count them. 😎🔥

Hi John, that's a good pointer to watch out for, and an effective way to fix it! I'll keep an eye out for any droop in my system. Okay quick question? Why would you even want a cross-over (H or X) ? In the late 60's early 70's, we'd spend days separating factory singles too true duels, bigger pipes, better flow, moar HP? Yes this was before the catalytic, or environmental phenom..... Is it not possible to run a true dual exhaust anymore? Unless I do it and.... don't tell?
@MikeFyxdt
@MikeFyxdt 3 жыл бұрын
There’s no reason you can’t run a true dual exhaust. Crossing them over has more to do with the idea of blending the two cylinder banks. It averages out the combustion pulses for a smoother overall sound.

hi mike. I am thinking of putting a steeda or michimoto h pipe. I have the same Mustang as you 2019 ruby red mettalic with fully stock active exhaust it's a European I'm in France. corn I am afraid of having a drone in the passenger compartment. Can you tell me your feelings about this while driving, is there any unwanted drone? and for you what are the best steeda or michimoto clamps because they are not the same ??
@MikeFyxdt
@MikeFyxdt 3 жыл бұрын
Hi John, thanks for your questions. I don’t have any experience with clamps other than what came with the Steeda H Pipe. Those work very well, but honestly the factory clamps that were on the front of the resonator are probably better made. They also don’t require a wrench behind the bolt when you tighten. But those are just minor complaints. I will say that the H pipe is much louder than the car with the resonator. Since I have the active exhaust, I often keep it on quiet when I am around other people, and it is a very soothing sound without drone. All the other settings, normal, sport and track, are aggressive sounds, which I enjoy as well. But being a good neighbor, I do spend a lot of time using that quiet setting now that the H pipe is installed. I hope that helps! Thank you for watching and for joining the conversation. Good luck with your Mustang!
