To put this in perspective, 2005 u20 World Cup, Nigeria lost to Argentina in the final. Messi led that Argentinian team and ultimately was awarded the best player in the tournament. Mikel played 10 for Nigeria and was awarded the the second best player in the tournament behind Messi. Mikel didn’t just give up a position he liked, he was one of the world’s best as a 10. His professionalism and commitment can never be doubted.

The fact that Obi was willing to sacrfice being a natural number 10 to converting to a 6 is a testament to how dedicated he was to doing what was best for the team. Players these days would moan and force a move away the minute that happened. Takes a lot of humility to do that

As an African it's true, most African family's get so dependent and think you should feed them forever, rather than investing the money you give them to open businesses and provide for themselves they will just sit and wait for the monthly/weekly allowances. ludicrous! glad someone spoke about it. Great show

I keep seeing a lot of comments across the videos forgetting that Mikel was first team NOT a super sub lol. Across his 372 games for Chelsea he averaged 70 minutes a game. That was across his ENTIRE career at the club, and that would include when he was new to the club, as well as when he was frozen out by lets say Conte etc. Which means that at the peak of his powers in Chelsea, he would have been averaging 85 minutes + a game. The guy is so underrated than people are now forgetting he was actually a pivotal part of the team and not a sub. Crazy.

Where Mikel talks about the level and degree of money he had to give his money was so well said. It is something that needs to be talked about more.

Great interview lads, love mikel what a legend, the insight from the pros is next level, love the fact he says stevie g was his toughest opponent, can't argue with a top player saying that about a fellow pro. Also his description of why Messi is a freak should make people realise that Messi and Ronaldo is not a debate, different players, listen to the pros who have been on the pitch with them

Did u hear Rio's reply messi played as a false 9 and often played in and around mikel's position, ronaldo didn't become the player he is today untill he got the freedom to roam freely like messi did. Ronaldo struggled against Ashley cole for one reason he doesn't like playing with his back to goal and ash was always aggressive and never allowed him turn. Not saying messi isn't great but his assessment was based on the fact messi played around him.

Sometimes with opposition players you only see them on the pitch and don't give them enough respect, as a United fan I always remembered Obi for red cards in big games. Hearing Obi talk is incredible, elite mentality and to play at a big club as long as he did you have to be top class. Great interview and content

Look how Mourinho helped evolve this guy as a player with a position change and created a monster team at Chelsea and then tried something a bit similar with Pogba at United and what happened? Pogba didn't want to put the work in to be part of a monster 'team'! Pogba spat his dummy out which shows two different responses from players. Class act from Mikel..(I'm a united fan btw)

It all making perfect sense that he was a N10. When i see him playing that 10 role for Nigeria i kept saying when he comes back Mourinho is going to play him in that 10 role. But he never did, i hated it as a Liverpool fan seeing him playing that 4 and 6 role for Chelsea. He had so much potential abd very good. I'm sure that where we would have played if he would've gone to united. Probs to him Mikel man for all his trophies. I think he was underrated for that position mourinho made him played. I believe if he would have have gone to United and play that 10 position he would have become one of the best in the PL history, like KDB.
