Might be a bit late for this harvest season. In Western Australia, adjustable upper cross augers (the rotational speed and position of the auger can be adjusted by the operator from the combine cab) are made to upgrade headers to suit Western Australian conditions that can be hot and dry etc. "Feedstorm Adjustable Upper Cross Augers are designed to fit: Case 3152, Macdon D60, D65 and D1 and John Deere 600 and 700 series fronts. The Feedstorm Augers are beneficial in a wide variety of crops; direct-headed canola, pulses and cereals crops."

Hey Mike , we had that same problem as your head. With the header loss. Down here in Kansas until you harvesting in Kansas. Not fun you could be in a drought in the beginning of harvest. Five days later, you’re in a flood. So what we did. To help with some of the header loss. We took rubber mats. Bath with the two of them little prongs. Both of them on every so often now I didn’t minimize all of the hair loss. But it did help with that her loss and it worked for us so we did it. I understand it may not work for everybody. It worked for us so we used it. We do that all of our heaters. Now if we buy anyone new ones. So Mike you have a wonderful day and hopefully nothing goes bad in harvest.

Thats the problem with a lot of newer, bigger equipment is the complexity that it can gather... That JD header appears far more friendly to operate and own than that Honey. Macdon makes a good head too... Expensive like anything else but just the sheer simplicity of it makes up for it. The new FD2s are a little more to them now, but the older FD series is simple and, best part, is its own hyd system on it to keep it separate from the combine... Which greatly helped us whem had the 2 draper motors eat themselves, amd and thankfully the filter caught majority of it.

The older Macdons earned a lot of respect from guys in soybean country, even from the die hard flex cutter bar crowd. It's hard on stuff to cut on the ground every acre. My biggest issue is with them being totally rigid large frame sections behind the cutter, when we've bent one on a couple occasions it can tweak the whole suspension and the frame behind the cutter. On an old school floating cutter bar head you could replace the section that was damaged, guards, suspension, etc. Out of a decade plus of Macdon, we've had that happen twice, and it takes a lot of finesse and tweaking to get them back straight-ish again. That's one thing nobody tells you, and unless you've seen it you might not know. We still run 4 of them though

I love when you go this specific about things, however there are a lot of different connotations between Canada and Europe, and also there are all the different series of combines that doesn´t always match with anything else. Could you be the one to clarify a few of these differences in your videos? I mean, since you´re trading big, and you´ve probably handled every piece of equipment available in North-America. Either way, I would love to hear more about your thoughts on any piece of equipment that you come across. Also, I´m sorry to see you running Deeres, as NH and Claas are always making the records ;) There´s one thing I don´t quite understand, though. How can you defend making these purchases, whilst also leaving headers worth several hundred thousands grounded for the season? If I understood this the right way, that is. Shouldn´t you sell off those excess headers as trade for the newer ones?

How ever i wouldn't say macdon are overly expensive we bought a demo unit so basically a brand new fd140 last year for either 130 or 140 i can't remember but it also came with buddy wheels which id never run a header without them again after having them on our old and new head. Id highly recommend you try a macdon on one of your combines very very nice header to use and they seem much more simple than both heads your showing and ive done a lot of work on our old header i feel like a expert at this point HA.

@@lynwessel2471 Thanks for clearing up! I quiet liked the IDEALs, but the John Deer are pretty cool aswell! Kinda curious though how Mike couldn‘t figure out the chopper problem since ir was such an „easy fix“ 🤔

@@Tranlock Engineers that don't understand their own machine? Mike didnt see what it was either? Guy that bought didn't know why it was plugging either. I think they wanted it on the market ahead of the X9 and let the early customers be the last couple years of research and development. When they get all the design/ reliability issues solved it will be a good machine.
