I'm slowly becoming a stepen king fan. Read 11/22/63. Really liked it. I just stated Revival yesterday and really enjoying that. The Stand is next month. If I enjoy that one, I'm gonna probably go back and start reading through it in publication order. Read 1 or 2 a month between my fantasy books.

Lol. Sarah talking about the teacher being upset her scary story was actually scary happened to me when I was a kid. A looooong time ago. To which, i have to ask, what do teachers expect when they ask for spooky Halloween stories? And I loved even Wolves of Calla, and I did read Winds through the Keyhole, enjoyed it. And I would read it as book 4.5. My problem with DT is books 6 and 7 should've been 1 book. And I agree the metafiction as a rescue device was a bit too 4th wall breaking. Even though I liked the metafiction in Wolves.

My first introduction to Stephen King when in a college course. It was a Gothic course where we read the hunger games, the yellow wallpaper, etc. In it, we read "the man in the black suit" and I became obsessed! I had never felt tension and suspense to that degree in anything and it's just a short story. It's incredible!

32:22 The Oral Tradition is the oldest form of storytelling, going back thousands and thousands of years, and I honestly think LISTENING is the ideal way to consume these stories. Stories were probably originally written down so the orator could keep the story consistent. When Virgil wrote the Aeneid, he meant for the book to be performed in front of an audience. Everyone today reads books by themselves, but really we should be reading them aloud in a group setting, experiencing the books together.

When I started Stephen King I was 9. My first King book was The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon. I loved it because I had a lot in common with Trisha (same age, parents also just split up and an older sibling making things harder than they have to be) That was my 1st real novel I ever read and it hooked me, not just to Stephen King but to the horror genre in general which is all I used to read. I didn't get into fantasy until I was like 15 when I picked up ASOIAF bc someone (incorrectly, but I still appreciate it) sold it to me as "horror with swords and dragons" . Favorite TV adaptation: The Storm of the Century or Rose Red

I know it's probably kind of crazy, but what got me to take a look into Dark Tower, was the short story from Everything's Eventual, which I read first. I loved it so much, that I just HAD to read more about Roland. And I also really love the first book, The Gunslinger, although I've noticed, not a lot of people do... Especially not compared to the rest of the series.

Dean Koontz fan here; I've read like 80 Koontz books - and I find it so funny to watch the silly rivalry. I was laughing out loud (and okay, maybe cringing a little) at the Koontz scene in IT. But the weird rivalry is hilarious, immortalized forever in FAMILY GUY.

Just starting my Stephen King journey. I tried reading Cujo and Christine when I was a teenager, but never finished a King novel. Read 'It' last month and now starting with his books in publication order. Just read Carrie last week and Salem's Lot is up next. So far, I'm loving his character development. Planning on starting Dark Tower after I finish Realm of the Elderlings.

The Dark Tower saga is my all time favorite, loved it when I finished it the first time years ago, and now re-reading it after years of literary studies, I now understand what King wanted to do with that ending: for those interested, you should read the poem from Robert Browning, and try to analyse/ understand the purpose of the poem, and you will understand why the end of King's Dark Tower was perfect !

Awesome collaboration. Looking forward to more of these in the future. I actually prefer The Talisman and Black House to The Dark Tower when it comes to Stephen King fantasy mostly because they are co-written by Peter Straub who is also a brilliant writer known for mostly doing horror and having them work together is a dream come true.

I grew up in a religious home and went to a religious school and heard ALL the stories about Stephen King basically being the devil. So I had to see for myself and borrowed Cycle of Werewolf from the library at the age of 12 (mostly because it was the shortest book). I thought it was pretty meh but it made me want to read another and then I was hooked for life.

I liked the Doctor Sleep movie so much I decided to read The Shining and Doctor sleep as well, currently about 40% of the way through The Shining. Not sure how much more of King I'll get into after this, as I tend to be more of a "series" guy.
