Already Over Sessions - Sydney, Sept. 6, 2023
In making "Already Over," I wrote and played all the instruments myself. But to play it live, I loved the idea of playing with a range of talented musicians who were all “locals.” While I was in Sydney, I managed to put together a session with a group of talented Aussies.
This is the first and only time we all played together.

The drummer is from an Australia band called Polaris. They have released full length albums and are getting bigger in the US with metal fans. They are one of my top 3 bands of all time and cant suggest them enough. Lyrically they are a lot like LP but heavier.

Holy shit. This is the first time I've heard someone sing Chester's part and thought they were perfect representing who he was but also bringing the new singer's own sound. As a huge fan, this is the first time I've thought I could see someone singing Chester's parts if LP ever toured again. Well done you guys!

This is the first vocalist I've heard who I genuinely think could 1000% fill Chester's shoes and could easily stand on par with him in terms of being one of the greatest vocalists of all time. THIS is the person they need to truly front the band.

I am shaken how amazing Bonnie was in matching Chester's verses. It's probably one of the closest vocal inspirations that I have heard, maybe ever. Mike didn't skip a beat and it felt like the classic LP, but I am still so impressed with Bonnie. There are a few key moments where Bonnies voice sounds so much like Chester's especially if you have heard his live performances and his voice is already a little strained and tired. There are just some parts that gave me goosebumps. Thanks so much for this Mike and the rest of the team. This felt so good.

I cannot emphasize this enough, if you enjoyed this CHECK OUT THEIR BANDS!! Stand Atlantic (Bonnie) and Between You and Me (James) make some incredible pop punk, and Polaris (Daniel) just released the best metalcore album of the year last month. I've been lucky enough to see two of them live and the next time stat comes to the PNW I will be there in the pit as well. Seeing them together in this session was unreal. Keep it going Mike, you're still killing it decades later.

I still think Obsidian is the best Metalcore record of the last year, but there’s no doubt Polaris released what we will be one of my favorite Metalcore albums for sure! Those guys are all so talented, and for this session everyone killed it! 🙌🏼

@@marcgw496 He did actually do backing vocals on all three of those albums. If you listen close, you can hear him in the background of basically every chorus on all of those albums. Actually, the harmonization between Mike and Chester is what really made their choruses stand out so much. Also, he has done lead on some demos as far as back as the Pre-Hybrid Theory days. So Far Away from the 20th Anniversary Edition of Hybrid Theory dates back to 1998 and Mike's singing is insane on it. So yeah, his singing may not have really escalated until Living Things, but it has definitely always been there. The first time I went back and listened to Hybrid Theory after hearing Mike's singing voice on No Roads Left for the first time, it blew me away just how much his singing is audible on those earlier albums. Much of what I had thought was Chester's voice all this time was actually Mike.

Hearing your voice unproduced makes me feel so much better about my recorded vocals. It's great, but produced you clean it up so much from this. Also, awesome breath work and diaphragm control on the held note so you didn't go flat.

It's like a love letter from Mike to LP. "The hardest part of ending is starting again" and if Mike finally made peace with a thought that's it's over, there is only hope for a new beggining. I think they can do it with Shinoda as a lead singer, but if they need someone to tour with or do a little scream cameo then a long time LP friend Deryck Whibley gonna be a fre agent in 2024 due to end of Sum41 as a group. They've always bring joy to our hearts, I hope there is some more gas in the tank to do it again for a few years or even just a single record. Great song btw.

Wow, I'm blown away! Her voice is absolutely stunning, and it gives me the same chills as Chester's. Her voice has that same power and beauty that made Chester so unforgettable. It's not about money or fan pressure, it just feels like the perfect fit. Bonnie could truly bring the band back to life and keep us all dreaming and vibing. Who else thinks this should happen?

If it is her that would be fantastic. No one is going to "replace" Chester, and I'm sure it's traumatizing hearing people bring that up all the time, but it would be cool to see the next iteration of LP. They sound good together and she could bring something new and unique to the banc.
