Hello Roberts and thank you very much for your message ! Indeed I didn’t find much video in English about this antenna, when I baught it last year, so that’s why I wanted to create a video in English. About your question: from what I understand, both your LHG kit and your wAP are running routerOS and are both presenting the same default IP address. So you should change the IP address of one of them, via Winbox (using a wired connection). You can find documentation and videos of Mikrotik about how to change this IP address (just be careful not to change the WAN interface IP address, just the other one). I think otherwise, if both routers have the same IP address, that creates a routing problem which could explain very bad performance that you’re experiencing. That’s just my two cents, not sure this will solve your problem. In any case, I suggest you to contact Mikrotik. Good luck !

@@yohantv3632 yeah, I was surfing tutorials last night and find that many people just start with changing the IP. So, I'll try that. But somehow, even antena and router are still sitting indoor on table pointing up to the sky, I can get 20mbps at the moment :) Yesterday I tested, pointing about the tower directtion, got ~70mbps down. But the next step also would be good to understand what those graphs are showing, and what is consirered good reception (RSPS and RSSI values) and then should explanation for five years old, what does Rx and Tx mean :) Thanks again for your help!

Thank you. You’re right, of course: it's already a great increase, considering the location of this house. The real breakthrough is the steadiness of the connection. I said this, about speed, because I know that this antenna can do much much better !! Before I did this set up, I did some tests in a very urban area (Paris !), and I easily got 72 Mbps (so 20x more than in the countryside). I don't know your situation, but it means that maybe you can expect for more than 4 Mbps. I wish you great results with this device !

@@angelmuniz8060 Hi! Unfortunately I still can't find where the cell tower actually is, as the "Cell ID" and "eNB ID" (displayed in WinBox) are not yet referenced in the 3 amateur databases that I found. I suggest you to look for the theorical range for this antenna, and for a map of cell towers around you. For your information, the speed I had without antenna (around 1Mbps) was clearly uneasy to get, like in a high corner of the room, and very unstable. If your 0.8 download speed is already stable, maybe you can expect a similar increase.

Very interesting nice video. I recently purchased thew same model and did some speed tests. Result was comparable with yours - 4Mbp in average. I've noticed transfer drops from time to time to 1Mbps. Maybe that's because of number of open connections to transmitter? I didn't try to do any settings via Winbox yet. Is it possible to increase speed by changing some settings?

Thank you for your comment. It's been three months now, so I have more feedback to share. I've been able to get better results since the video: around 6 Mps average (max 7 Mps) when the antenna is correctly oriented. I forgot to tell in the video, that I actually compared 3 mobile network operators beforehands, with this antenna, as I baught 3 different SIM cards, to choose the better one for this situation. So I suggest you to do the same, even if it is a bit "costly" for a test. I also experienced a few and short drops in speed tests, when the antenna happen to choose another cell tower, for time to time. It can last 10 minutes, a few times in a day, but everything comes back to normal when the antenna finds back our best cell tower. I suggest you to read the LTE detailed informations in the LTE interface window (via the app, or winbox) to find out if the targeted cell tower is always the same (check the Cell ID, eNb...). You can even try to find the exact location of the targeted cell towers, thanks to their identifiers, to find a precise targeting, but it turns out to be difficult in my case.

I bought sim at another operator, which has transmitter 2,6km away in opposite direction, but has 3 LTE frequencies 800, 2100 and 2600. I understand you may need some « link aggregation » technology, which might be available for some switch/routers. I suggest you to contact MikroTik, to look for this feature in theirs products maybe. My understanding is that it would mean having multiple antennas, which cables are aggregated in another router/switch. Good luck
@yohantv3632
@yohantv3632 5 жыл бұрын
To be more specific: you might want to set up a « bonding » (link aggregation) in this way: - you would need 2 (or more) LHG LTE antennas - they should be both connected to the same Mikrotik router (like rb750up) which is configured for « bonding » - and you need a RouterOS X86 server (in the cloud, or elsewhere server-side and accessible from internet) to receive the two streams from your 2 antennas, and merge them a single stream, to access the internet in high speed ! This is what I understand, but you have to check with Mikrotik, if this is actually possible with LTE modems, before purchasing. This antenna is a directionnal one, and is a combo setup that seems limited to 100 Mbps, as far as I known. That means that you will have to choose only one cell tower precisely to optimize your speed, to gain only 30 Mps max eventually. As you allready have a good modem, I recommend you to buy just an external antenna ! Just choose between a directionnal or a multi-directionnal one. If you allready have a descent radio signal, I would rather choose a multidirectionnal one maybe.

Hello Raimonds, thank you for your question. You’re right, it’s not easy to insert and remove the SIM card from the slot. I am using « tweezers » to insert and remove it carefully. And to avoid doing it many times, I actually bought a SIM card especially for this antenna. And a SIM adapter, to make it the right size. You should see a little logo just over the slot, indicating how to insert the card: the SIM metal microship facing « the sky » when you have your antenna on a table, or on your knees. Hello Kevin. Thank you! Ok: Once you inserted the SIM card and plugged the PoE cable, after a few secondes, you should be able to access the administration console, via the winbox application on you computer connected to your antennas (using the ethernet cable). Winbox will suggest you the default IP adresse of your antenna, this should work. Once winbox is open, you’ll see multiple sections. Your priority is to set the APN and PIN code of your SIM card, in the « LTE Quick Set » section. This step can fail, if your PIN Code is wrong, or if your PIN Code is locked, due to multiple failed attempts. Some default PIN codes are not 0000 😂 If you locked your SIM card, you will see this information in the LTE logs (I don’t remember where exactly) Then get your PUK code and try to unlock your SIM card « as usual » using a cell phone. Then retry. Once your antenna has sucessfully targetted a cell tower, you’ll see a new graph showing the signal quality. Your computer should get the internet via your antenna ! One last thing, you should set a DNS address in Winbox, to enable a Firmware Update for your antenna ! (Let’s say Google DNS 8.8.8.8, or another DNS if you like). Good luck !

Good ! As I said in the video, when you will connect your wifi router to your antenna via ethernet (instead of connecting your computer to it) your wifi router will retrieve its IP address and gateway, exactly like your computer did before. Then you should launch your wifi router’s setup, if necessary, to finally enable your Wifi network (ssid and password). In the case of Google Wifi, this setup is done using a smartphone application (and is straitforward)

Hi, I did a few preleminary tests in a very urban environment last year, and it worked really well when the towers are very close, and the internet speed was very good. Then in my final tests, in the countryside, quite far from the tower, the targetted tower was not really straight in the axis of antenna, because there are trees and landscape there, obstructing parts of the signal. So in a nutshell, it might work, but I wonder why your client can’t have a proper signal at 50 meters away from the tower. If the signal is really obstructed or if there are interferences, I’m not sure that having a better antenna would help. Anyway you can give it a try !

24dbi parabolic grid antenna Vs Lhg mikrotik Any thoughts sir ??

Hello, good question, thank you. yes I saw this antenna when I had to make a choice. It is a bigger antenna which also gets more gain (24dbi vs 21bdi) compared to the Mikrotik LHG Kit. Of course you would have to buy a LTE/4G modem to make it work, and it might be necessary to actually buy 2 of these 24dbi antenna for proper LTE transmission, as you can read on the internet. (I don’t really know if the Mikrotik LHG LTE kit does meet this LTE requirement of having 2 antennas). So this would take much more space, and would cost about twice the price of the Mikrotik kit, or more. And it would require a bit more knowledge too, in my point of view. If you have enough space, money and advice from a professional installer, I would go for it ! In my case, I have a small space, my installation is pretty much temporary, and I didn’t have enough time to call a professional installer either ! In short, I think that the Mikrotik kit is better if you want to keep it small, easy, and cost-effective, but you might do better with the other one if you have space, money and knowledge. It sounds like wisdom haha 😂
