Mild restoration antique firearm (Carcano)

In this video I finally get around to completing a “mild” restoration on a pre-WW2 Italian Carcano Calvary carbine. The barrel was I. Good condition but the stock was poor, so many gouges. Most products I used are available at your local hardware store, the actual blueing kit you may have to go to a gun smith or shop. Overall the project took a little more than a week and was surprisingly easy to manage if you have the time it’s worth the effort.

Some guy in 50 years: This rifle would have been worth $30,000 in original condition but someone "restored" it so it's worth about the same price as a budget hunting rifle.

@@twentyfifthdui4717 haha maybe I don’t think there’s much of a chance of that though. So many Carcano rifles in circulation.

I swear, every old carcano and enfield I have gotten, the original owner used the butt (in particular the screw heads!) as a hammer to break rocks....

Having served in the military I can attest that every rifle butt is used as a hammer 😁

If you can’t find it there are other products similar like simple green

Great Canadian video. Where did you get the tub from? I think that lid is perfect as you are using it.

Hey, that’s exactly what I thought when I saw it. I think it’s one of those under bed storage containers. I think I picked it up at Walmart or Canadian Tire.

I love this kind of video, preserving old bits of history! I have an ongoing project with a pre-war Marlin model 80 bolt action 22. I have it mechanically functioning perfectly now, and need to address the cosmetics. Best wishes to you!

@@theguywithbeardgunsandgear My projects tend to languish in the safe after they are well under way; I have an Israeli K98 Mauser in 7.62 NATO that I 'mostly' brought back from being nothing more than a barreled action. Only missing the front sight and a few small bits of hardware to complete it. Soon, soon. LOL
