For a group of people who claim to care about transit options and carbon usage, you all sure do like to simply use transit for no other reason other than CLICKS. Meanwhile, I only drive a car when I need to. Maybe I'm doing this wrong and should start taking rides on PT just for the fun of it and watch my carbon footprint really take off to new heights and monetize my unnecessary travels through videos on KZfaq.

Dude, train travel is for both business and pleasure. There are many excursion trains around the world where people ride just to take in the scenery and enjoy the experience. Miles and his friends are having a good time and entertaining people. There’s nothing wrong with that.

The "script meeting" post-credits scene...golden. Alex and Jackson just going up the steps to a random house, while the people in the house were like 👁👄👁. The Quadropods just splitting themselves apart to do their own race within the Great Race....race-ception and a wild idea, but I like their style! Adam from Jet Lag would be so proud of the Philadelphia NIMBYs wearing disguises! And everybody gangsta till Alex, Miles, and Jackson drop a new song called The Station's in Sight, though all three of you singing Going Underground was a great way to honor your team's namesake! I Remember the Rockaways is so good! Combining your and Jackson's musical talent with diners and transit, is why this channel is so special! Amazing job with the editing and music as usual! And yeah, Aqueduct Racetrack is quite the unique station! The racetrack opened in 1894, however the station wouldn't open until 1959, five years after the NY Racing Association chose to upgrade the racetrack because of its proximity to the line. At first it was open for just race days and on the start of service in September 1959, extra-fare "Aqueduct Special" trains ran nonstop from 42nd Street-PABT until it crossed over to the northbound platform to discharge passengers at the racetrack. The specials were replaced by JFK Express service, before service at the station was altogether discontinued in 1990. The station reopened in 1997 but closed again between 2011 and 2013 to give access to the Resorts World casino and install elevators.

Rocz and June putting on disguises to ride the ferry like "Sometimes my genius is...it's almost frightening" The scene of Jordan's arrival to the finish line was just perfect. The ice cream truck stopping its music right after Jordan cursed at it, the distant "JOOOORDYCAAAKES", Miles using the clip from the beginning of the race, Jordan being a great tipper, Jeremy kept saying "YES" as Jordan explained the big detour he took, Jordan screaming after Jeremy kept saying "YES", and then to top it all off, "I'm not last, okay so I won"...Jordan logic is the best logic! But hey, at least the taxi beat the LIRR despite that detour! The stained-glass beach-themed art at Beach 90th Street is cool, made by Michael Miller in 2011! The Holland part on the Beach-90th signs refer to Michael P. Holland who was one of the early developers in the area. The station was meant to serve his Holland Hotel. That bridge Team Professionals went under on the ferry is the Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge which opened in July 1937. It's a vertical-lift bridge, meaning the bridge can be lifted in case a vessel wants to pass beneath. The bridge's center span can be raised to a height of 150 feet or 46 meters to do so. It was built by the American Bridge Company (who also helped build the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, Chrysler Building, and Empire State Building) cost 10 million dollars to build, or over 200 million dollars in 2024 dollars!

Oh, for sure. I only saw one episode. Early on, the teams, one of then a Black father/daughter team visited a famous/infamous fortress where many Africans were sent from to be slaves in the Americas. Very emotional, especially with that team. At the end, the teams were racing from a train station in Berlin I think to the Brandberg Gate. One of the teams, a male-female one, the guy was verbally abusive to the woman over her not keeping up with him. I turned the show off, never saw another episode. Yes, there is some banter by and among the teams, but it is generally good fun.

Love this! I remember my friends and I doing this when we were younger. We used to race to Coney Island from the very top of The Bronx. Another thing we did was to take all the train lines. We all had to come up with an individual strategy to take all trains in the shortest amount of time. But all of this was over 20 years ago. But how come you'll didn't meet at Beach 116th Street? There are more things happening over there.

Hi Miles, love your videos, trip reports and awesome friends! Regarding the the Rules and Teams that got saddled with the Taxi: We saw Jordan hail successfully hail a cab because he was in Midtown Manhattan near the UN Building! Philly NIMBY’s only hope was to call dispatch for a yellow cab, and their phone batteries were dead and pay phones no longer exist! Were the Philly NIMBY team barred from using all buses and trains, thus they weren’t able to head to JFK to hire an airport taxi queued up and head to Manhattan? Were Uber, Lyft and other Rideshare deemed “not Taxi Cabs, thus verboten?” I guess a lot of it is Justin going Rogue and arguing that the NYC Ferry is also known as a “Water Taxi” did he at least hail a cab near the South ferry terminal near Wall Street?

I have just read all about the Green Apple Boro Taxis…(which have only existed via state law since 2012) could they hailed or called for a dispatched Green Taxi to take them into Manhattan? Cause I’ve read that’s their purpose; to provide Cross-Borough Trips across all Five NYC Counties/Boroughs and Drop-offs in the Yellow Zone [But Boro Cabs aren’t allowed to Pick Up Customers at the Airports or in the Yellow Zone (below West 110th Street and East 96th Street)] I understand it was a race and the Philly Team was exhausted taking the LIRR to Far Rockaway, but it would have been neat for them to demonstrate the differences in Yellow versus Green Cabs in New York City and how an app like Curb works, which connects you with Liveried, Licensed, Medallioned, Bonded, background-checked and insured drivers working for the NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC). No offense to the powers that be, but I only wish they had chosen to have given, the return taxi trip to Jeremy’s Team, as I can only imagine @jeremyzorek would demonstrate their savvy Metro New York knowhow in getting a Yellow or Green cab up Woodhaven and down through the Queens Midtown Tunnel, toute suite.@@MilesinTransit

Gotta love the thrills and drama of this semi-controlled bedlam. I don't fault the NIMBYs for their return choice. Jordan will NEVER be a loser. Also, I think you need to invite a team who will ride bicycles for the next Great Race destination. I'm pretty sure this could have been done in about an hour on a bike. This could get you more visibility to new viewers by teaming up with a fellow KZfaqr/ bike enthusiast - at least think about it. Oh yeah, and I'd love to see the three faces of Nathan on a T-shirt. Thanks for sharing!

@DuluthTW "Oh yeah, and I'd love to see the three faces of Nathan on a T-shirt". How did you know that the charming Nathan is a silent sufferer of multiple personality disorder? The 3 personalities are: 1. Nathan 2..Jean LeClerc a fierce French resistance fighter in WW2 3. Iconic drag performer Amyl Nitrate Clooney I need a 2X for my t-shirt.

There was a bike racer in one of their previous races who had to run and find one of those rental bikes. If I remember correctly I'm pretty sure he won the first race.

We've had bikers in past races, but they were super short - this one is so long we were worried about fatigue, plus unsafe biking facilities! An e-bike could be an option, but then they would probably win handily...

It might take all day, but a race from The Cloisters down to the Conference House in Tottenville! (You can have different train and bus routes to the actual connections into the island like the Ferry, or the busses you can grab in Bay Ridge) or make it a free for all to get to Staten Island, and then have everyone use specific routes down to Tottenville.)

I was actually going to post this on Miles' video for next week, but to suggest racing from the northern most subway stop in NYC (Wakefield 241st) to the southern most stop (Tottenville, while technically not connected to the other subway routes, is still part of the MTA system). There's a lot of different ways to do it (subway (obviously), express bus, Metro North, uber, even using ferries for part of the route (Staten Island Ferry and the NYC Ferry from 39th st)). You beat me to it first.

@@adambeeable that would also take a long time, though the 2 can connect to the 5 or the 1 to the ferry terminal. From way up town Manhattan there’s the A and the 1 (which is a long way downhill from the Cloisters.)
