Living Big In A Tiny House

2 жыл бұрын

This military family have built an incredible tiny house to call home! One of the challenges of being in the military is the probability of being relocated. Needing to pack up all of your belongings and find a new home in a new city can be a challenge, but what if you could just take your home with you?
That's exactly what Russel and Sarah decided to do, when they repurposed their deposit for a conventional home and instead chose a mortgage and debt free life for their family in a tiny house on wheels.
This home has been cleverly designed to give each family member their own space while functioning as a comfortable and welcoming family home. Now parked up on a property right across from the air force base, Russel only has to jump over the fence to get to work.
We hope you enjoy the tour of this beautiful family tiny home.

We absolutely love this story! Russell and Sarah really thought outside the box and created a wonderful place for their family to call home. Especially in a job which sometimes requires relocation, having the ability to take your house with you is a huge advantage. We hope you enjoy the tour! With love, Bryce & Rasa

Yeah Better live in this type small but luxurious home instead of taking huge loan and spent your life in fear of paying mortgage on time. We can also add one wooden room on the deck later to make room for the daughter when she is like 15 yrs old. Add some removable mirrors on the deck so that it can used as big living room outside and then put some curtains if you need some privacy.

Yeah, and you notice Bryce didn't bump his head as tall as he is, even in their bedrooms. I bet they have avoided a lot of financial stress and argument by having fresh and open space outside (not even crammed with nextdoor neighbors!), NOT having to spend the gas money, wear and tear on the car, and an hour or two in transit everyday to work/home, and cutting that mortgage down and out!!!

"We were just that normal family in a rental" 'There is absolutely nothing special about us". I have watched many many wonderful videos on this channel, but this is the first time I have been moved to tears. What is profoundly special about Sarah and Russell and girls, is that, as a 'normal family living in a rental' their values motivated them to take that sideways step to tiny home living. Love and simple living means so much more to them than 'stuff', and 'big' and so on. Perhaps there is hope for families to be able to survive this growing housing crisis in our beautiful New Zealand, and stay in control of how they wish to live. Thank you - my day is brighter

My immediate reaction to a family with children (especially daughters) living in a tiny house was “Oh that sounds awful! I feel so bad for them,” but this design really works and the fact that the girls have their own rooms will take the family thru the hormonal teenaged years relatively smoothly! Good job! I’m impressed by this 3-bedroom beauty! This is a smart layout for any couple with children or planning to start a family someday. I’m convinced!

You could very easily build another space, like an external office, for study if it was an issue. Given they aren't paying a mortgage, I imagine it wouldn't take long to have enough money to do something like that. @@epictetus9766 There have been some videos here whereby folks have gotten another smaller tiny house to use for kids, or for living space. The biggest thing I'd think might be an issue is only one bathroom, but that can be addressed later too! Great layout on this tiny home! Love it!

I'm an old Navy Brat. Both my parents served during the Vietnam war (Dad was stationed in the Antarctic the year I was born and brought Sea World's penguins back with him when he came home for the summer). We moved cross country every 2 1/2 to 3 years, with more frequent local moves (from temporary housing to the first unit available, or the first rental available if that was even possible, to one that could more comfortably fit the family). My mother had moving down to a science. We could pack up a house and load a moving van better than some professional companies. Having a house that could move with us and that we never needed to pack up? That's as revolutionary as carrying your telephone around in your pocket - and being able to keep the same phone number. We had to say goodbye forever to a lot of people growing up in the military before cell phones and email. It's a completely different world for military dependents now, and much of that for the better. I hope this change catches on.

We’ve been fortunate to be able to pay off the mortgage on our 4 bedroom, 3 full bath home after 20 years, but as retirement comes nearer downsizing and simplifying looks more and more appealing. And if we can live in comfort at less expense, we’d be able to give more to good causes and also to help our daughters get established in this increasingly difficult world (and/or to leave something for them when we’re gone).

Russell and Sarah and their lovely family, are living the enchanted life!!! Compared to most of the world, enormous STRESS relief in their lives!! And thankyou Russell and Sarah, for your service!!!! (the wife makes it possible)! the two of your are a huge inspiration and enormous encouragement to all families!! To choose to live more minimalistic, resulting in living fabulously better!! Hence-real living ,, ,without the average burdens and chains of life time debt! YOU are an extraordinary couple! Sarah is very beautiful, Russell handsome, beautiful children,, and a very lovely, exquisite home! Thankyou both for being trend setters, showing the world how it should be done , to embrace true living!! The two of you are beyond special! . The courage and faith you walk in, as you continue in action, living life to the fullest, without the usual chains, that most families are burdened with[ is remarkable! It is Obvious That Jesus is the center of your lives! Excellent! Very well Done Russell and Sarah! I salute You!!! As always, superb job, Bryce, thankyou and Rasa.

I have watched many videos on this channel and out of the hundreds this family has worn my heart! Maybe its because they are a military family but the way they have solved a huge problem by going tiny just makes me proud of them. God bless this family!

Bryce thank you so much, how lucky are Sarah, Russell and the girls!!! Could Sarah's smile get any bigger? This has to be THE BEST Tiny House video yet!! How lucky also were they to have such good friends to let them use their land too!!! Great space for the girls and who needs big lounge rooms, TV rooms, dining rooms etc anyway, especially when you have that cool space outside, so much healthier too.? Fantastic...Congrats too on nearly 4 1/2 million subscribers too Bryce & Rasa that's awesome :) ....you are the best show on KZfaq. 10:10 !! Oh boy I didn't realise NZ was sooooo expensive I wonder why that is???? But isn't it great that they welcome Tiny Houses...pity mainland Oz doesn't do the same it would solve so many housing issues. Thanks again. I'm going to have to watch it again...RIGHT NOW!! **** The only problem I can see (and maybe its not) is if they have to move often where will they park it next time - presumably the Airforce pay for relocation but does that include the house too???

I really like this tiny house. My dad was Air Force and we moved quite a bit. Finding new housing was hard for our mom. This way of living is perfect for the girls, no new adjustment to a different home. It was always difficult for my brother and I having to make new friends and attend a new school. It sounds strange to me now, but even in the 1960's different states employed different teaching methods. Being able to take your home with you is such an amazing concept and it definitely allows stability.

Remember folks, figure out your land situation FIRST BEFORE getting a tinyhome! In some regions, especially in the US it can be a challenge. Meanwhile you're paying for tinyhome storage every month 😬

Military families on unexpected moves will have to do the best they can to find a place to park. Legalities, utilities, and there is rent to pay on space for most people. Would like to see this channel do a couple of episodes about the variety of solutions. Glad that Bryce always asks, at least briefly, how they found their space.
