For socks, look for merino wool ones, these absorb moisture from your feet so no need for talc in the sock (still worth putting talc on your feet before and after though). Insoles used to be crap (especially with BCH, cheap plastic crap), I doubt you would have any problems with your own ones, and once you know where your hot spots are (trust me, you will know 😄) then tape those area's.

Go to a physio if you're not already in! discovered I had one leg shorter than the other due to a fracture when young, and therefore needed a different insole in one shoe to prevent peroneal tendonitis and hip bursitis. Just ask for their help, it's their job.

Boots we get now are so much better than the old Combat assault boots, I got blood poisoning from a blister while in phase 2 training catterick, nearly cost me my career! Had a strong dose of painkillers and antibiotics along with iodine pads to clean out the infection. Ituri desert boots and aku ok for general issue. Great video and advice for new soldiers 👍

A lot of good running stores do free Gait analysis (how your feet land or strike the ground when running or walking) in store or online when you look to buy trainers. This will help you to identify if your running style needs supportive insoles or not. It is worth doing before you join any organisation where you'll spend anytime on your feet especially the military and will go some way to helping prevent some strains and muscular injuries.

Doesn't help when the lads are issued boots on the day of arrival. But paras and Marines are issued months before they start. Think we are seriously missing a trick here.

@@CombatReadyHQ I know. Mate I've just finished 2 years in Swansea careers office. I'm back in Tidworth now. Shocking mate not sure why the rest of the army aren't catching up. Its all down to knowledge as well. Breaking in boots isn't in the Trg programme and is left to the recruits most the time. I use to get mine to stick them in a hot bath. As to soften the leather. Thing is they have to break them in whilst doing pt 😭

All ice does is prolong the injury. RICE has been disproven by the guy who invented it, for shin splints do tibialis raises. See Knees over toes guy on KZfaq, a legit fitness professional.
