The Massed Bands of the Household Division - Rehearsing for Beating Retreat

On Wednesday 30th May 2018 The Massed Bands of the Household Division rehearse for their 2018 Beating Retreat on the forecourt of Wellington Barracks.
They were also joined by the Combined Corps of Drums of 1st Battalion Irish and Coldstream Guards as well as the Pipes and Drums of 1st Battalion Irish Guards and 1st Battalion Scots Guards.
Some of the music they rehearse includes - Hands Across the Sea, The Liberty Fanfare, US Tri Service Marches, Irish Tune from County Derry and Men of Harlech and the march Alliance of the Free, the title and theme of this year's event.

Many of them are designed with code and colour cooridination on a software, and printed out, given to the musicians and then tried for real.

Hands across the sea is an amazing march, I think I was written by John Phillip Sousa before the First World War describing how the UK was an amazing ally or something, this is an amazing march hasn’t been played since I think 1993 or 1992 on the birthday parade

emptyangel The United States Army in Europe Band and Chorus are set to perform this year. A military band from the UAE are also set to play.

They are not as good as Royal Marine Massed Bands.

The Guards bands are best for marching behind within a long column as the best and pace is more pronounced. Yes, I used to serve in the Royal Marines also in line Infantry. The Royal Marine bands are more marching orchestra’s and fine music but not so good to march behind.

Get your RM Band to do the spin wheel, then maybe. Until then, lets wait and see.... I'll give the RM credit for their music but not their drill...
