@@michaelhayward7572 There will always be those who are mentally challenged, and unfortunately we can't stop them from hitting the 'dislike' video. I prefer to look at it from a percentage point of view, in that if if your 'dislikes' are below 10%, that's a damn good result. As it stands now, Allens percentage is about 0.2%...... that's pretty much unheard of!!!! 😉

Just wish I had the skills and motivation to do similar (although I did find Honda CR500 motocross con-rods fit a Yamaha XS650 using Yamaha XV750 pistons and give an 800cc motor) I built one around 2002, went quite well but stripped for crank mods and haven't got back to it.

@Joeseph Smith Given there is video of this engine running and idling, the maths may well have been flawed but it does appear to run. Were you not paying attention? The plastic bearings were only used as spacers until the bearing journals were line bored to accept the new needle roller bearings since they were being used instead of the original plain crank bearings.

@@twt3716 Interesting thing is, when you hear him being interviewed, he's reluctant to accept the 'genius' label and puts it down to common sense built on years of training and good engineering practice. What makes the difference - I think - is that he can visualise all these things in his head then approach fabricating and problem solving using a huge range of individual skills when most would even start let alone finish.

And, ti wasn't quite perfect, but he figured out an adaptor plate to slide in. Holy Moses! On the Honda RC 174 they would have just fabricated the right size con rod. I'm a retired experimental aero engine tool fitter. After being found to hate all the machining jobs they wanted me to do, I ended up working on burner development for military and civilian engines, including Phantom Spey and RB211. I designed the assembly jigs for the the first of the new RB211 burners. They were ridiculously complicated. It didn't help that I took over from an old boy who left no notes, but was in failing health. So I started again from scratch. I swear I've forgotten more than I knew back then. Everything went to Parker Hannifin after I left. That was 1980. Indeed, it was not until Allen reminded me, and made it sound and look so easy, that I remembered just what's involved. It's all about the planning, careful measuring (I listed progressive measurements in columns on graph paper! Eventually I had the JESUS copy), crazy tolerances, very precise jigs and those last precision cuts. With the right equipment, every task can be achieved if broken down into manageable parts. But it's his imagination and instinct for very high precision that really sets Allen apart. I want to build a specific very special engine which I know hasn't been done yet (it won't be straightforward), but I daren't even mention it here, because Allen will just root around in his shed and put one together before I even get my new workshop built! Actually, I'm wary of even thinking about it whilst connected to the internet...!!;)

Now you know why British engineers were able to build the best bikes in 50s and 60, Shame they never got the funding and support from government that they have in Germany and Sweden. I wanted to build a series small single cylinder bikes( 50/125/250.) for commuters. Anyone interested,?

Can we get a campaign up to get Mr Millyard made Sir Allan Millyard?? I think your an icon for all shed tinkerers, but an icon that produces Rolls Royce quality. The fact you share your knowledge so freely is the reason for my vote.
