Bro I just came back to tell you, that THIS WORKED! thank you so much. My Milwaukee was reading 1v on the meter, when I pressed the battery level button nothing happened and I had green red flashing lights on the charger. Did what you said, jump started my M18 with A DEWALT 18v XR Battery 😂 left em connected for 10 mins, checking the cable wasn’t getting to hot, stuck it on the charger and it’s worked. Thanks man 👊🏽

HOLY SH!T!! It Works! Thanks dude. Edit: Don't leave your battery in your tool. Had an M18 battery in my impact driver with the reverse button pressed in. It killed the battery leaving it at only 4.6volts over time and was unable to charge it and the charger was flashing red/green. The battery charge indicator button (four red bars) stopped working as well. This battery was dead dead. I hooked up two batteries and watched it charge up to 8.23V in about 10 mins. Then detached the batteries and the dead battery read 6.7V and was steadily dropping. It was just enough juice for the charger to pick up and read it and stop flashing red/green and actually charge the battery. It is currently on the charger with a steady red (charging) and I couldn't be happier. Again, Thank you.

Fyi: Both batteries had the same issue. The one that was jumped and the one on the charger. After jumping the battery, it's important that the battery gets a full charge, or else it does not work properly and will have to be jumped again. I have encountered this problem in different places and they all seem to stem from leaving the battery on the charger for a long time (a month). Recently, I had my battery submerged in water briefly, and after drying it out for a couple of days I jumped and it worked.

Thank you so much I work at a hardware store and we were about to run six of them as defective but I just fixed them
@estifloco Жыл бұрын
Make sure they are completely charged before use to prevent it from happening again. In my case, I think the problem occurred due to leaving the batteries on the charger for extended periods of time with no use (2-3 weeks)

Reboot doesn’t work on any of my batteries.

If you have followed the steps, most likely the battery is bad. There are ways to replace the batteries inside the casing

My batteries are new & it don't have any juice at all. Been sitting in my closet for years. Hope this would work for me.

The flashing red light simply means the battery has a 10% charge left and needs to be placed on the charger. It’s in the manual if you read it.
@austintshepard89585 ай бұрын
We know. But when the battery gets too low sometimes the charger will not charge and instead show a green light for a dead battery. Then you have to do this jumpstart to get it to take a charge again.

It’s still borrowed time though. I could be wrong but if the battery has the symptoms that you describe, that means you have a cell that went bad. Each cell should read 3.5V (I think). So if you get a cell that measures 2.5V, that particular cell in the battery is bad. I’ve tried taking the battery apart to replace it. Honestly, it’s not worth it. Theres a thin metal housing around cells that maintains the polarity of each cell to achieve the 18V. By the time you get through it, the battery is so tore up, you might as well buy a new one.

You should Mark the wrong one so we know which one you touch

How long do I leave them together?

That’s what I’m asking, I’d be under the assumption of 10 minutes idk

Apparently 10 seconds is enough

pity you didnt show the supposedly rebooted battery working on the charger instead you used the charged battery from the charger in the tool and said hey presto it works lmao
@estifloco10 ай бұрын
Both had same problem. You have to let it get a full charge after jumping

Verify connections. If batteries are hot, it will not work. If not, then batteries are bad

It happened to the batteries I had for leaving them on the charger without use for weeks at a time
