I heard the milwaukee hawkbill being sharpened by older guys that hang on to em for a while. This channel is about sharing tools and repairs. If you find a tool that you're excited to hold, use and feel inefficient without then that's the perfect tool for you. Price means nothing when you find you match cheap or expensive.

Youve got some decent points for sure. And there is no doubt that someone that uses a utulity knife extensively on the daily would probably prefer your Dewalt. Especially for hard use tasks. But so many of us dont use our utility knives extensively during the day. And for many, the more compact size and belt clip are key in making sure you've got your utility knife in your pocket for when you need it. Additionally, rubber overmold is often annoying when having something with it in your pocket in my experience. Its grippy nature makes it hang up often when removing it and putting it back in your pocket. Basically boils down to what kind of knife you need. Thats why both types exist and why compact knives with pocket clips have become popular for those that dont need an all day hard use utility knife. Their compact and easy to carry in your pocket with minimal to no annoyance. The flip factor is just a fun gimmick imo because its just as fast to slide out a blade as it is to flip it. All that being said I do run the Milwaukee 6 in 1 as my daily as a left hander and have to say for the last 6 years its worked great for me. I used to run the compact but when the 6 in 1 came out i couldnt pass up the additional utility of the bit driver and the extra blade storage. That Dewalt has some nice features as well and if I had to use a knife all day every day id be carrying a unit like your Dewalt if not that exact knife for the nice features you demonstrated in your vid.

If someone gave me a fastback I definitely wouldn't say no but at the same price I preferred this one. I have heard so many good things about that 6 in 1 and the fastback's flip is in my opinion smoother. Something I forgot to mention about the dewalt is needing more pressure on the button to release the mechanism but on the other hand you can put ALOT of force on that head without is closing on ya. Some commenters got offended as if I said the milwaukee sucked lol. At the end of the day the best tool is the one you're excited to use and lost without :) ~ Work Smart

I think they're both better when used in two different scenarios. The milwuakee when you just need a quick knife, for just a few seconds. Not using all day type work. What I use for plumbing. Carry the compact all day, every day. However, DeWalt could be better for those that need to hold a knife for a lot longer. Few minutes, or longer, at a time. Maybe better for electricians or autobody shops, idk, but definitely could see it better in some cases. In my case, using the DeWalt, I just know it would be a hassle. The milwuakee is just so satisfying to flip open and negates most of the 'pros' of the dewalt, for me.

No one makes a left handed utility knife for the same reason in 25 years I have made 12 left handed knives....left handed folks wont buy them. They are so used to using right handed gear they dont want to retrain. I have had the argument that if I had them they will sell......and they sat for years through multiple shows and envents....its just not worth the effort for the big companies to pay the expense of re tooling to sell 100 or less....

I totally get you. I got used to right handed guitar but playing baseball for a few years I HAD to have a lefty mitt. My new video on the 4 new dewalt knives finally solved this issue. I went with the DWHT10992 and that video quickly summarizes why in a few minutes :) Thanks for sharing Doc ~ Work Smart

As a left-handed person I think you're absolutely insane trying to make this argument bro the fastback is far and away the best box utility knife I've ever used. The button takes literally zero effort to use, your soft lil fingers will be fine. You don't need the belt clip for a folding tool anyways, it's so compact when folded it fits in a pocket way better than any other utility knife. I have no idea what you see in that absolute brick of a DeWalt. L take imo.

Hard agee. These 2 knives aren't even in the same catagory to me, completely different things. And as a lefty as well, I use my fastback all day every day and nothing touches it. I've tried and hated a dozen other utility knives and I'll buy a dozen more fastbacks before i go back to anything else

@RDubya146 all good, I don't restrict comments, thanks for sharing. Fastback is a great knife but my next video solved my issue. My hands aren't soft, I just don't need to develop lizard skin to enjoy a tool. If it works for you that's great but another knife caught my favor and I made a vid for it. As for the belt clip you may not need or like it but I do. Dewalt actually dropped some new knives and I already one up did a video on it. Very pleased with a "fastback" style knife so of the 4 new styles I grabbed the DWHT10992

@Tangent. not sure about your hand size but with limited real estate the clip is something I don't want to give up. The curved bigger size allows me a solid grip and knowing I can apply all the pressure I need to. I'm glad it works for you the fastback is super smooth 👌 😎

You can tell by looking at these in the video that they get 0 work use and are just toys.

@lSirCumference weird that these new out of package knives would not look worn...if you're referring to my Dewalt or Stanley I clean my tools between uses when I can. Having dirty scuffed and barely functional tools isn't required to share pros and cons. I'd prefer hearing something related to the channel such as what you like and dislike in a tool

@@TOOL_TECHNICAL my plumber has one. The deployment button is on the other end of the clip, so might be a little better for lefties.

@@kds471 yeah I was showing it to this guy at Home Depot he was like Foreal? I Let em try it for a bit. The only thing I forgot to add in the other video is that the dewalt button needs more pressure than the fastback. The mechanism is all metal so with time it'll probably break in :) ~ Work Smart

Wurth makes the same exact one as the compact that also has a bit driver built into the handle.

@juliusfollmer1186 everyone hopped on the wave. Ryobi, Klein has one that has an extra stop at 135 degrees I believe. Dewalt dropped something recently if you check out my next video, and I am very pleased 😀

@juliusfollmer1186 also yeah that 6 in 1 fastback with the 1/4 bit holder removes the need to walk around with an extra tool but some people may prefer the sleek design of the models without the bells and whistles

Seriously? Manufacturers target the main group of end users..not some tiny percentage of Wrong handed people..tell you what never trust a Wrong handed person.. because you don't know what else they got mixed up..interesting fact not a single country or even race is primarily Wrong handed makes you think it's for a good reason..
@TOOL_TECHNICAL

@agentcovert wrong handed? Lol left-handed sports gear exists, gear, electronics, instruments etc. Assuming 10% of the world population are lefties that still opens the market to ~ 800 million consumers. I understand the entire focus being profitability however you wouldn't tell companies not to make a medicine if only 0.000000000001% of a population had a disease. Same concept applies for markets without competition would mean easy money 💰. Just know there's no wrong handed people just wrong people and you are one..

The same reason that for thousands of years Leaders marched armies leading on the LEFT foot. Because MOST PEOPLE ON EARTH ARE RIGHT-HANDED. and if you called a marching cadence on the right foot, by the time you reach your destination you'll be miles off your intended area.
