Hi Crappie Kayak, no you don't need any adapter. The best price on a Mud Mixer is from ebay I know of 3 people that bought them from this seller for only $124.00 www.ebay.com/itm/Milwaukee-2810-20-M18-FUEL-Mud-Mixer-with-180-Deg-Handle-Tool-Only-New/303400761060?epid=25032156994&hash=item46a41836e4:g:0PoAAOSwy8Jc0Jpl:sc:USPSPriorityFlatRateBox!54467!US!-1

Just wanted to update this review. Year 4, with a bit of sharpening I'm still thrilled with this Auger! This is an excellent Auger. kzfaq.infoUgkxe0I-fnTUByahTCyStrIBXsesSkQJKn8n It splits to 1/2 size for storage in the warm months and easily assembles for winter use. I can cut holes in less than a minute by and really don't feel the need to ever adapt this to use with a drill. It cuts easily with the included blades (which can be sharpened or replaced as needed) and has held up extremely well through last season, and now for the first cuts of this season. I do recommend this to anyone who asks, and personally prefer this over powered augers. These are quiet, still quite fast, lighter, and don't risk spilling chemicals into our waterways. I plan to do a lot of fishing this year through the ice, thanks to this trusty Auger. The 8" diameter is great for fishing pike through the ice as well.

I converted last fall. Had a 10 " Eskimo 43cc (Mako or shark). Went to the Milwaukee fuel 3/4 inch drill/driver and the 9 inch KDrill. I got a Genz auger plate adapter also. The rig is aboutn 13 pounds and bores holes faster than the gas drill. I have two 5 Ahr. batteries and fish from portables. Have had to re charge the batteries once this last season. (I get about 20 holes in 20 + inches of ice.)

I use the same mud mixer and K drill but I use 12.0 batteries. I noticed that even with the 6.0 and 9.0 batteries I would get some cut out when I hit some debris in the ice and the motor would shut off. I don’t get that with the 12.0 unless it locks down. The only thing I can think of is over current protection on the battery preventing it from faulting since a surge would most likely cause a thermal runaway in those LiPo batteries. I will say if you drill a bunch of holes back to back to back, when you group fish and have kids go drill everyone’s holes. My mixer gets on the warm side. I really like the grip angle and stance of holding the mud mixer over the regular m18 drill. The balance of the mud mixer is leaps above the super hawg as well. The super hawg is faster but it’s a lot more bulky

KDrill does not recommend the Mud Mixer due to the cut outs like you experienced. As the battery drains the toque will overcome the overload circuitry. I've seen much better results with a shaver type blade such as Nils or Strikemaster or Eskimo.
@NoFishNicksAdventures
@NoFishNicksAdventures 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info from KDrill. This is my first chipper style power auger, before this I've owned 2 different models from Strike Masters and one Eskimo. All work great until they get dull. A few years back a chipper style auger that a friend brought along saved a two day adventure because there was sand frozen throughout the ice and my shaver style auger dulled instantly on the first hole. His chipper style auger was able to keep use fishing for both days. I still liked the shavers style enough to buy my propane Eskimo but I like sharing my sand adventure to let others that say how much better one is over the other. Good luck on your next adventure.
@3RiversFishingAdventures
@3RiversFishingAdventures 5 жыл бұрын
@@NoFishNicksAdventures I totally agree that a chipper has some distinct advantages but it comes at a cost of needing more torque and power. I've done a lot of testing and the KDrill demands the most from a drill. Nothing wrong with that, but expect less holes vs other type augers.

I use the regular Milwaukee 2804 hammer drill and I love it, but one thing I really like about this setup is how after you let off the trigger it seems the auger slowly comes to a stop. With the regular hammer drill the instant you let off the trigger the whole thing abruptly stops. It makes quite a loud pop. Maybe I’m overthinking it but I feel like this instant stop isn’t good for the longevity of the drill. I might look into getting the mud mixer next year. Thanks for the video.

I was just notified by DeWalt that K-Drill augers cannot be used with ANY DeWalt DRILLS. If you are caught by DeWalt, your warranty will be immediately void. Even though K-Drill made videos of using DeWalt drills with their auger, DeWalt drills are not made to be used this way. My own warranty was voided because of this.

The Pistol looks good but I wish that it had the center point to keep it from wobbling. My brother in-law has a old 10" Stike Master without the center point and it gets a little wobbly once the blades dull or ice-up. I do agree that the shaving blades cut faster but they will also get dull more rapidly. Hopefully I'll get a chance to try the Pistol out this coming season.

I've owned my first one for over a year now. Granted, I bought the drill for $200 and the charger and big 12ah battery were a few hundred more. Yes, the drill has cut out a few times (but only a few) when drilling multiple holes where the ice was very thick. Generally though, I use my gas powered auger for anything over 16 inches or so. This year I'm buying another mud mixer and the larger 8.5 inch K-drill bit. I considered the new Strikemaster lithium augers, but going that route necessitates buying additional batteries to go with the auger. The 5ah that comes with it isn't even remotely sufficient for all the drilling that I do and for some reason doesn't have the light flight auger bit on it. Why put a heavy drill bit on their new lithium auger? Dumb in my opinion- unless of course you're trying to soak you're clients out of a bunch of extra $$$. Typical behavior from Rapala and from companies they have purchased. Their overall quality control is awful on many of their products. I already own a Milwaukee 9ah and a 12ah so I don't need another battery. Hell, I could use both these augers and be fishing for days without having to worry about having enough juice. I love the torque and power to weight ratio of these units. I prefer a chipper blade by far as the laser blades do not drill through a prior days holes and is seriously dangerous if you attempt it. Don't do it. I've cut well over four hundred holes with a set of these blades without any additional sharpening and they still were doing the job. I have an additional set now that I use when I send off the other set to the manufacturer for free lifetime sharpening. In my opinion, this is by far the best lithium combo for an ice auger. It's not just the torque, it's the handle, it's the weight, it's the speed and the overall reputation of Milwaukee products. Yes, I'm still keeping a backup power auger for those seriously thick ice conditions, but for the majority of my outings, this Milwaukee/K-Drill combo is awesome on all fronts. Thanks Nick for the video and recommendation.
